The houses which the real hotel was built around in Amsterdam featured in the story really exist and can be seen on the Prins Hendrikkade.
This is the second most expensive film production in the Netherlands.
Filmed in location such as Amsterdam and Kockengen but mainly parts were shot in Hungary.
