Paramount+ is known for hosting some of the best TV shows on any streaming platform, and in January 2025, the lineup remains just as strong as ever. The first month of 2025 sees the arrival of the original Matlock TV series as it joins the new Kathy Bates reboot. This classic courtroom drama, starring Andy Griffith, includes all nine seasons. Sci-fi fans get a treat in January, as the new Star Trek series Section 31 premieres on January 24. Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.

The biggest news coming in December was that Paramount+ is removing several TV shows from its streaming service. This isn't anything new since both Paramount and Showtime removed several shows last year. The streamer is doing a little housekeeping ahead of the new year, to the chagrin of kids and nostalgic adults.

Paramount has decided not to wait until spring to get a little spring cleaning done. Specifically, the company has undertaken a new round of content removals from its streamer Paramount+, and like previous culls this batch of pulled titles is heavily affecting kids and families. It’s all in the name of lowering backend streaming costs, but that’s of little comfort to customers who might be seeing their favorite titles removed.

Key Details: Arguably the most well-known title removed from Paramount+ is the 1990s cartoon “Doug.” Movies from the “Kung Fu Panda” and “Madagascar” franchise have also been pulled. Paramount+ has begun removing numerous beloved Nickelodeon shows from its streaming catalog, including iconic series like Doug and Big Time Rush. Nickelodeon, which launched in 1979, has been a cornerstone of children's television entertainment for decades and continues to produce countless animated and live-action series.

According to Deadline, over a dozen Nickelodeon titles are being removed from Paramount+, including classic Nicktoons like Doug, popular live-action series such as Big Time Rush, and newer shows like Breadwinners and Sanjay & Craig.

Well this is a big time bummer: Big Time Rush is no longer available on Paramount+.

As first reported by our sister site Deadline, the streamer has removed a bunch of series made for children and tweens, including the former Nickelodeon sitcom about high school friends who become a wildly successful boy band.

Paramount+ is removing Nickelodeon titles from its library, including some big properties like Doug, Blue’s Room, and Big Time Rush.

December has seen Doug being taken off the streamer. The animated series premiered in 1991 on Nickelodeon and ran for four seasons. Doug was one of the earliest titles of the “Nicktoons” in the 1990s, which would later include shows like Rugrats, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold! and more.

Other titles purged from Paramount+ include My Life As A Teenage Robot and shows based on DreamWorks Animation films like Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar.

AwesomenessTV, Breadwinners, Game Shakers, House of Anubis, Let’s Just Play: Go Healthy Challenge, Welcome to the Wayne, Wonder Pets, and Zoofari were also removed from Paramount+.

American rap musician Cardi B has joined the voice cast of upcoming animation film “Baby Shark’s Big Movie!”

The film is the first feature-length spin-off from “Baby Shark’s Big Show!,” a pre-school series which began in 2021 on Nickelodeon-branded channels and platforms and is now in its second season.

The show is co-produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Seoul, Korea-based The Pinkfong Company and directed by Alan Foreman. Its narrative follows Baby Shark and his family as they move to Chomp City, the big city of sharks.

Cardi B is joined by several members of her own family. While the multi-platinum icon portrays Sharki B, her partner and fellow musician Offset gives voice to Offshark, while children Kulture plays Kulture Sharki and Wave as Wavey Shark.

The film is set to premiere later this year exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S and shortly after on Paramount+ internationally where the service is available.

Network 10 is set to launch a new free-to-air channel, 10 Shake, which by day will air children’s content and from 6pm-6am focus on edgier content for adults under 40.

Joining other multichannels 10 Peach and 10 Bold, 10 Shake will include a variety of programming made available through parent company ViacomCBS, including from Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central.

The children’s slate promises Bubble Guppies, Henry Danger, Ready Set Dance, SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol, Henry Danger, iCarly, Breadwinners, Bubble Guppies, Dora the Explorer, The Loud House, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, Sam & Cat, Sanjay and Craig, Shimmer and Shine, Team Umizoomi, The Thundermans and Top Wing.

Network 10 will also house its Australian C classified dramas on the channel, as well as other local kids shows Totally Wild, Scope, Gamify, Calvin and Kaison’s Play Power and Crocamole.

The International Animated Film Society, Asifa-Hollywood, has announced the nominations for the 43rd Annual Annie Awards and "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur," both Pixar movies, led the pack! "Inside Out" received fourteen nominations while "The Good Dinosaur" got nine.

My pick of the year for best animated feature is "Inside Out" but I love Charlie Kaufman's "Anomalisa" as well which picked five noms.

We'll find out the winners of the Annie Awards on February 6th!

The thing I love about voice actors is that even if you don’t know their names or faces, you will “know that voice.” And considering voice actor Eric Bauza was responsible for one of my favorite scenes in the voice actor documentary I Know That Voice, I’m super glad that I not only know that voice, but got to interview it (and the man behind it!) at this year’s New York Comic Con.

The cable network said today it will be bringing the animated series about a duck duo and their rocket van delivery service back for a second season with a 20-episode order. “The popularity and success of Breadwinners is a testament to our commitment to creator-driven animation,” said Nickelodeon’s Russell Hicks, President, Content Development and Production. “We’re thrilled to bring our audience another season of this great show as part of our continued pledge to building our pipeline of original animation.” Nickelodeon picked up the show from animator from Gary “Doodles” Diraffaele and former Mad and Teen Titans Go! writer Steve Borst last February.
