Bollywood Director Abhishek Kapoor, actor Bhumi Pednekar and others took to social media on June 14 to mourn the loss of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and wrote heartfelt notes in remembrance.IANSThe Bollywood film fraternity took to social media to remember late actor Sushant Singh Rajput on his first death anniversary on June 14, Monday. Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who had directed Sushant Singh Rajput in his debut film Kai Po Che! (2013) and later in Kedarnath (2018), shared in an Instagram post: "1yr today.. still numb #omnamahshivaya #sushantsinghrajput #superstar forever.” Sushant's Sonchiriya co-star Bhumi Pednekar wrote: "Miss you, your questions and everything we spoke about. From the stars to the things unknown, you showed me the world like I had never seen it before. I hope you've found your peace my curious sweet Ssr...Om Shanti #Forever #Ssr #Peace #neutronstar." Actor Ranvir Shorey, who also acted in Sonchiriya, posted a throwback image from the sets of the movie.

Sushant Singh Rajput, a Bollywood actor who jumped from TV to the big screen and starred in the Netflix action film “Drive,” died Sunday at age 34.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai home; local media report that according to police, his cause of death was an apparent suicide by hanging.

Born in 1986, Rajput began his acting career on television in the 2008 drama “Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil” (“In Which Country Does My Heart Live”). After stints on successful shows like the soap opera “Pavitra Rishta,” Rajput made the jump to film in 2013 beginning with the buddy film “Kai Po Che!” and the romantic comedy “Shuddh Desi Romance.”

Playing the title role in Dibakar Banerjee’s period sleuth film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! was challenging for Sushant Singh Rajput and he says he has worked very hard to get his act right in the movie.

The 29-year-old actor said that before doing the film he did his fair share of research on Bengali literature’s most loved fictional detective created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. “I knew that I had the resources and researches. The bottom line was the authority to play the character Byomkesh. I was aware of what not to do on-screen. Filmmaking is all about what we like to do on-screen. We have attempted that in the film. I have worked very hard to perform the character,” said Rajput. The film is set in Kolkata and has been extensively shot in the city as well as Mumbai.

Dibakar Banerjee’s next, the highly awaited Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is making all the right noises in the industry. The YouTube trailer of the film has already crossed well over a 1 million views. The film is adapted from Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s crime thriller novels, which have the Bengali detective Byomkesh Bakshy as the protagonist. Though the director has bought the rights for all the 33 novels featuring the Bengali sleuth, he is reluctant to say that his film is first of a series.

At a recent event in New Delhi Dibakar confessed that he was very nervous about his film. “I have been fascinated by the stories and by Byomkesh’s character since I read it for the first time. And when I read it I read all the 33 novels all together it took me maybe two to three years but I remember how deep an impression it had on me.

The first motion poster of director Dibakar Banerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! features daring detective Byomkesh Bakshy played by Sushant Singh Rajput, in war torn Kolkata of 1942-43. The motion poster features dhoti-clad Sushant against the backdrop of Kolkata’s iconic Howrah Bridge in his stint to save the city from Japanese invasion.

The poster shows the city being bombed by Japanese choppers and a young detective trying to do his duty with full conviction.

The motion poster of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! was released on the night of December 20, which is symbolic of the night of December 20 in 1942 when Calcutta (now Kolkata), the Second City of the British Empire (which was at war with the three Axis Powers: Germany, Italy and Japan) was bombed by Japan.

Not just Kolkata, but India’s pride, the new Howrah Bridge, thrown open to the public during the peak of the World War II on 3rd February 1943, turned 72 yesterday and there couldn’t have been a better way to rejoice than by paying a cool tribute to the national monument!

Team Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! celebrated the occasion with a live flash mob as a compliment to the Howrah Bridge on its 72nd birthday, while releasing the first song, “Calcutta Kiss” from the film in a completely unique way.

Taking everyone by surprise, over 50 youngsters broke into a live fun and spontaneous flash mob dance early morning on the bridge which had pedestrians and vehicular traffic in full swing… bringing everything to a halt.

As with many a rising star, the rumors about which film he will be doing next run rampant and the same is true for Sushant Singh Rajput. The young actor, most recently seen in Pk, does have some very exciting films lined up for the future but one of them is not the Bollywood remake of Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini.

A statement from his team says, “There has been some completely false news reports doing the rounds that Sushant Singh Rajput will be starring in the Bollywood remake of Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini.Just wanted to let you know that there is no truth to it whatsoever.”

The statement went on to clarify what films fans can look forward too, “Sushant’s upcoming release is Byomkesh Bakshi apart from that the other films he is committed to are the Dhoni biopic, Paani and Homi Adijania’s next.”

As a symbolic and fitting tribute today to a World War II air-raid in the war-torn history of Calcutta (now Kolkata), director Dibakar Banerjee along with his lead actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, released the first look poster of the upcoming film, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! at the Great Eastern Hotel (now The Lalit Great Eastern Hotel).

Well, if there’s one thing to expect from this movie, it’s the unexpected. What you think is going to happen, will not happen. And we all got a glimpse of it when the makers of this highly anticipated Detective Byomkesh Bakshy stepped out of the general norm and used Vine videos to release the teaser trailer. Not only that, the latest buzz is that the thriller now teases the audiences by an unexpected date shift of the final movie release.

Swastika Mukherjee, who is making her Bollywood debut opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, has been accused of shoplifting.

The actress was caught by security cameras while tucking in a pair of gold earrings into her handbag at a top jewellery showroom in Singapore.

Swastika is in Singapore to attend Bengali film festival, Darpan. The incident has left prominent members of the Bengali film industry red-faced, most of whom are attending the festival there.

The theft was reported Saturday after the actress had gone shopping for jewellery along with her friend, Bengali film director Sumon Mukopadhyay. The CCTV cameras caught her picking up a pair of gold earring and putting it in her bag. She didn't pay for the earrings at the cash counter.

Though Swastika claimed to have receipts for all her purchases, she hasn't been able to produce a receipt for the gold earrings.

For Sushant Singh Rajput, it is time for leap of generations that could fracture any actor's performing abilities. But Sushant, who with just three films, has prepared a roster of character-portraits rather than star-vehicles for his career, is all set to make a 110-year journey in the course of two films. After gaining popularity on small screen, Sushant Singh seems to be climbing the ladder of success in Bollywood quite quickly. The actor has bagged some meaty projects this year including Yrf and Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. While he will be reprising the title role of Byomkesh, the details of the rest of the cast were being kept under wraps. Now, we hear that the assistant of popular designer Sabyasachi, Divya Menon, will be making her debut as an actress in this film. She has apparently been roped in to play the role of Byomkesh's wife. It seems every young actor is doing an accent. While Aditya Roy Kapoor had to work really hard on his Urdu diction in Habib Faisal's Daawat-e-Ishq, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sushant Singh Rajput have been practising their Marathi and Bangla for their respective characters in Vibhu Puri's Mumbaai Fairytale and Dibakar Bannerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy respectively.
