Deadline reported in October 2024 that Anne Hathaway is returning for Princess Diaries 3, which Hathaway confirmed on Instagram. Other original cast members had not yet been confirmed to return. Julie Andrews had previously said she's not sure where she would fit into a threequel. No mention was made about when production will begin.
