There’s a new “Karate Kid” ready to learn the art of “wax on, wax off.”

Sony has released the official trailer for “Karate Kid: Legends,” the next chapter in the martial arts franchise that’s coming to theaters on May 30.

“Karate Kid: Legends” brings together star Ralph Macchio, who began playing Daniel Larusso back in the original 1984 “Karate Kid” movie, and Jackie Chan, who played Mr. Han in the 2010 “Karate Kid” remake. “American Born Chinese” star Ben Wang plays a new student named Li Fong, who becomes the latest protege to Daniel and Mr. Han.

Wang was found after Chan and Macchio announced a worldwide search that saw thousands of young actors from around the world audition for the role. Wang was chosen in part for his variety of martial arts skills, including karate, wing chun/kung fu, gumdo, kempo and taekwondo.

It’s becoming common for companies to use AI when upscaling images for 4K Uhd releases of movies… but we keep seeing examples that indicate maybe it shouldn’t be common practice. AI turned background extras in Jaws 3D into monstrous creatures, and now fans of Wallace & Gromit are taking to reddit to complain about the AI upscaling used for Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Cracking Collection, which was recently released by Shout Factory and goes for the price of $119.98.

Screen shots shared on reddit show that the AI upscaling has removed texture from some shots, turned text into gibberish, and removed numbers from an alarm clock. A screen shot from the What Happened to the 4K Remaster of Wallace & Gromit? YouTube video even reveals that AI decided to add some kind of hieroglyphics to a moldy canopy.

Jessica Rabbit gets reimagined in different anime styles with original new Who Framed Roger Rabbit art. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is coming back for more space adventures.

Paramount+ announced Tuesday that the sci-fi series has been officially renewed for Season 3. Additionally, Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, June 15; new episodes will stream weekly.

Seven years ago, indie musician Trevor Powers announced the end of his project Youth Lagoon, under which he released three studio albums. “There is nothing left to say through Youth Lagoon,” he said at the time. “It will exist no more.” Now, Powers has turned the microphone on once again.

“I felt like I was in a chokehold,” Powers said in a statement. “Even though it was my music, I lost my way. In a lot of ways, I lost myself.”

His time away proved to be essential to moving forward.

After eight years, Trevor Powers is ready to return to Youth Lagoon. The artist has announced a new album, Heaven Is a Junkyard, out June 9th via Fat Possum, and shared the project’s first single, “Idaho Alien.”

Powers released three albums as Youth Lagoon before retiring the moniker in 2016, announcing that the project was “a space I no longer inhabit, nor want to inhabit.” Now, however, the dream pop artist reveals, “Youth Lagoon was never the chokehold. I was.”
