The remote beach house location in Corolla, North Carolina where much of the film takes place was only accessible by driving onto the actual beach. As a result, filming was sometimes delayed when the tide rose too high, and the cast and crew could not reach the set.
The role of Diana was originally conceived to be American like the others, but director Nicholas Bushman was so impressed with Delphine Chanéac that he rewrote the character as French.
Third consecutive film collaboration between longtime friends Nicholas Bushman and Mike Dwyer, who previously starred in Union Furnace (2015) and Sandbar (2012) for the director.
Mike Dwyer performed the stunt where his character drives the car into the ocean himself. It was done on the last day of filming, after Dwyer had completed all of his other scenes, in case anything went wrong with the stunt.
