The show is one of two ABC Family ordered to series on Monday. The other is "Young & Hungry," which stars Emily Osment ("Hannah Montana") as a food blogger who lands a job as personal chef to a hotshot tech entrepreneur (Jonathan Sadowski). Both are set to begin production in the coming weeks and premiere later in the year.
"Mystery Girls" stars Garth and Spelling as the former stars of a TV detective show. Own's original series "Raising Whitley" follows comedian Kym Whitley's challenges raising her adopted son Joshua with a group of friends. While the first season wrapped up last month, Whitley and crew will be back in 2014 for Season 2 and dropped by TCA's summer press tour to discuss the show.
One of Whitley's best known roles remains the 2004 episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Car Pool Lane," in which she played a prostitute hired by Larry David so he could drive in a Los Angeles car pool lane. When Whitley was asked if David might drop by her reality show, she gamely played along. "I would love to have Larry David come by, as long as I don't have to wear those clothes again. I can't fit in them anymore," Whitley joked.
"We do have a lot of people who come by," she added. "I have celebrity friends and a lot...
