"This show is not for everyone" should be this show's goddamn tag-line or something. It's violent, and constantly shoves it's satanic references and disgusting body-humor down your throat AT ALL TIMES.
You need a stomach for this kind of show, and if you have it, it's really, really fun. You can't knock it for not being creative. A lot of the voice actors for characters in the show aren't amazing, but at least most of them are convincing, it's stories in each episode are, as well, average but good enough. Where it really shines is how well it handles it's violent situations and characters. One scene can go from seemingly harmless to absolute insanity in the blink of an eye, and it never feels too rushed or out of place. This is mostly due to the fact that the only scenes containing elements of torture, violence, hacking, sawing, and pretty much any other disgustingly gory act you can possibly think of are so brief and inventive in it's own sorta way, that after a while, it becomes normal within the show's confined universe.

Mr. Pickles is alot to handle as a show. One episode is enough to give you an idea of what else is in store for you as a veiwer. I can't tell if it's funny because of how appalling the violence is; the show is truly remarkable in twisted imagination.
Plot- Each epsiode is like a Horror show with happy go lucky main characters (The Goodman's) and an unknowingly satanic dog (Mr. Pickles). The show will always start with Mr Pickles obliterating some random, mostly airheaded innocent people- much like a horror movie. Of course the tone of the show is comedic, but it all revolves around the dogs unimaginably disgusting affairs.
Writing- Not a very funny show honestly. I really only laugh in amazement at how immensely demented it can be. There's funny elements, like how Mr Pickles always manages to seem innocent just before he is about to be exposed, or how the grandpa always seems crazy. Its really only clever in terms of violence. Teenagers would love this- it's packed to the brim with excess. Try to find one normal scene without anything even minutely gross or perverted. It won't happen.
Characters/Acting- The voice acting is good. Some likeable characters that are kinda funny, others are just overexaggerated and annoying.
Quality- Pretty damn good honestly, for being animated on Adobe Flash. It's extremely detailed, fast paced, and the violence is completely crazy. You may laugh at it, but its not for the right reasons.
Overall I would never recommend this to anyone that is easily offended by violence, anyone of strong religious faith, anyone who isnt a teenager, anyone who is looking for a cleverly humorous show. If you wanna wipe your brain, distract yourself, or have a feeling of WTF, turn this on when you can. As for me, I like it for the shock factor, but can only handle about 1 or 2 episodes at a time. I keep using the word "excessive" excessively, but that is the definition of this show.

I love the show just because the plots are so ridiculous. The writers have created an absurd, ongoing situation - "Old town," with a massive telemarketing presence, a sheriff on roller skates, etc. The entire intent is so absurd that it's funny - then add a naive kid with (unexplained) leg braces, and an "evil" dog - which is actually the hero of each episode. I think what I really love are the right wing religious nuts who can't see that it is just a silly cartoon, funny in the absurdity, and think that the show is a sign of Satan at work. Sadly, these people know nothing of biblical or theological history, and are just stupid. I've watched the first season, probably three times. The animation director, or the animators themselves have added funny twists to the animations - look at the pictures on the Sheriff's wall, the magazines in the country store store, the graffiti on the bridge embankments, etc. A lot of imagination has gone into the series. A then there is Mr. Pickles. He's my best friend. Love that theme song.

This show makes me feel like I'm going crazy. And I like that feeling.
The jokes themselves aren't really funny but are delivered in such a graphic and disturbing way and occur so rapidly that it really kind of takes you on a weird journey and then when it's over you think "what the hell did I just watch?"
I would definitely want Mr. Pickles as my own pet though. Him and Tommy are probably the most fleshed out characters. Everybody else is an insane grotesque caricature of some awful person you probably already know and in that regard I really appreciate it's scathingly sarcastic tone in regards to stupid people in general.

I just had to give it a 10 out of 10 out of spite of the first reviews.. I'm not into satanism or anything and I think this will hit a negative cord towards anyone with any type of religious beliefs. It's not for the faint of heart or for the people into mainstream cartoons. (Unlike a couple people..) I think the storyline and setup is great. Pretty sure people based their opinion on the pilot.. You have the young blonde haired all American boy and his average looking dog, who has a terrible secret. The grandpa that gets easily mistaken for crazy, when he finds out the secret.. It fast past, gruesome, twisted, dark humor. Something a lot of people can't agree on being "funny".. but they are usually the ones who comment. The ones who couldn't see the talent and art that went behind such short episodes. I watched ALL of season 1 before reviewing this show. I suggest anyone to watch at least 3 episodes before judging.
It's like Leave it to Beaver meets Hellraiser.. There's an extremely wide range, which makes me question people who say this show has "no storyline"..

This is definitely one of the best cartoons ever. It's a shame that they have only made 4 hours of this show in 6 years. Mr. Pickles is a good boy.
Mr. Pickles is a great show that many people including friends, youtubers and critics like to shit all over. Now im gore's worst fan, i faint if i see more than 2 drops of blood but i dont know what it is about Mr. Pickles but the literal murdering that happens in the show doesnt make me want to temporarily die. Out of the 3 seasons and 1 special episode ive watched the special and the first two seasons because after watching something like "Telemarketers Are The Devil" and "S.H.O.E.S" i dont want anything to do with that season. Yes it is humour that 100% is shock value but i like it.

A sweet story about a young boy and his loyal dog. The only problem is that the dog is a devils spawn, going around town murdering people and using their body parts for Satanic rituals and orgies. The only one who knows what he is the Grandfather, but who would believe a senile old man?
And that's the story. Is it any good? Sure, if you're looking for a cheap laughs. The show knows that it is a schlock and never tries to rise above that. Be warned though, it doesn't hold back on violence and gore.

I could care less for the violence and the "satanic" theme, but this seems written by an "edgy" teenager trying to do a list of every taboo he can think of. Not a single joke is funny, everything falls flat.
The rhythm of the show is frantic, which gets tiring pretty quickly.
Also, the "art" is some of the ugliest crap I've ever seen on TV. Badly drawn, hardly animated. I like crude adult humor in the vein of Drawn Together, South Park, et al. but this is just plain bad.
Stay away at all costs.

This is the kind of late night cartoon I have a soft spot for. Yes it's over the top, yes it's dark and twisted, yes it can be revolting; but all these things are good when they're framed in funny jokes. I like the writing, I like it's fast pace, and I enjoy the premise. Bring on more death metal dog doing frocked up things with a panting smile.
I'm sure this cartoon pisses off a lot of people and I'm sure some people find it tasteless, but honestly I think if you're willing to look past some of the more "shock" stuff, or for some people (like me) actually enjoy them, you'll see there is still clever writing and solid absurd humour. I can't say I expect this to get super popular or even for it to go on for very long, but if you like death metal, slasher movies that have subtle and twisted comedy, dirty and manic cartoons, then I think you might be the kind of person that likes this. Not that those things are all related, except that they are all offbeat from the mainstream, snobs stick their noses up at it, but yet there's something about them that entertains some of us.

Mr. Pickles is nowhere near as smart and clever as Happy Tree Friends, But Mr. Pickles is still fun if you turn off your brain.

This show is awful. I know some people don't like it because they don't like violence or references to satanism, but for everyone else considering watching this show let me tell you: I don't care about those things but this show is still just complete garbage.
The first thing you'll notice is that the animation and voice acting is just terrible. It looks and sounds like no editing was done at all. And yet somehow the terrible animation and voice acting actually looks good compared to the show's writing. If you've seen one episode of Mr Pickles you've basically seen all of them because the punchline is the same every single time: the dog is evil and kills people. Hilarious, right? There are really bad attempts at other jokes in the show, but about 90% of them boil down to "everyone except the dog is a complete idiot." To summarize, every single episode of this show is "the dog is evil and kills people, and everyone else is an idiot." That's the set up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's like the creators of this show basically just came up with the pitch for the show and never even attempted to expand on it. They just re-write the pitch every week, but since it's on Adult Swim it remains on the air. Don't get me wrong, I like a decent amount of AS programming, but they have about 20 terrible shows for every good one, and this is one of the truly terrible ones. Don't waste your time with this awful show.

I recently saw the first season of Mr. Pickles, despite seeing hatred towards it on YouTube. And, I enjoy it. I'm not a fan of Satan, not a very religious person but I think you should go into the show, expecting lots of animated gore and gross images. Sure, the show doesn't look perfect, but it isn't bad. Yes, the characters aren't that memorable, except from Mr. Pickles, though I enjoy Grandpa also. The humor is most of the time sick or black but I kinda like it. There isn't a story going on also. The best episode so far is Season 1's end. Overall Mr. Pickles isn't show for everybody, though I have fun with it. If you want some blood, black or gross humor, this show may be for you.

Mr pickles is a unique and graphic series about a boy and his dog what get up to shenanigans and it will question your faith in god and expand your horizons in music taste. The gore and odd characters will have you laughing like an immature adult and question why it isn't censored on TV.
The Animation fits well with this type of genre, It isn't massive budget stuff because there is no need.
I really enjoyed this series and have yet to find anything like it, probably due to censorship and complaints of people who just like to complain about shows they have no interest in or don't know how to switch off the TV before their pea sized brains get triggered

This show is a really strange, psychotic show and you have to have a quick mind in order to keep up with it. There's not a whole lot of substance in terms of storyline, but the humor is out there! I quote a certain episode with my friends all the time. Don't bother with the other reviews. I don't know any show that's spectacular and full of amazing writing when it's less than ten minutes long. The main character, the dog Mr. Pickles, is adorable and this show is great for quick laughs. I would really love a plush of Mr. Pickles, but I know that won't ever happen. But it's really cute for adults and I recommend it for any fan of Assy McGee, since this show is similar in humor. People are taking this too seriously!
Anybody can clearly see just by watching a ad for this show that its clearly bassed on shock humor and gore.
For me this is absolutely okay as long as there is a) humor to it and or b) good story writing. Mr. Pickles got maybe some laughs out of me, but nothing that had me coming back for more or really interested in it.
Like most shock value shows the humor comes quick and is gone like that, everything moves at a quick pace. There is always something new happening on screen. However you find after a while the episodes fall into a pattern and it looses a but of its flare after a while.
Basically if you like happy tree friends, you may like this show. For me the novelty wore off after a couple episodes. I most likely won't end up revisiting this show at all.

i thought mr. pickles was a fantastic show and so did the two co- workers i recommended it to. yes it is sick and gross and dark but who gives a s&$#? if you are religious or a prude don't watch and certainly don't review because this show is not made for you. while mr. pickles is sick he is a great dog to the young boy and most of the crazy stuff he does is to protect or avenge the boy, or to screw with the grandpa and make him out to be insane. the sheriff is also pretty funny, a pretty good take on some law enforcers. it certainly blows super jail out of the water and is probably tied with squidbillies for the best show on adult swim. i really hope there is a second season

Mr. Pickles is described as being absolutely sick, twisted and hardcore. While these things are true, it disappoints me as an avid fan of the psychological thriller genre to see so many people highly praise a series for being so senselessly vulgar.
I, personally, have never found myself cringe at the visuals within Mr. Pickles more than I did at the thoughtless presentation of the vulgarity. Mr. Pickles tries way too hard with shock humor and ends up being neither shocking nor humorous. With hardly ever any punchline or respite in sight, Mr. Pickles seems like its gory for the sake of being gory, and this seems to be enough to attract people who think edginess is cool -- but without a punchline or respite, the shock humor ends up becoming predictable, falling flat on its face, being more failed shock and loses the right to be considered a joke at all instead of a joke that failed.
I normally go on to do longer reviews than this, but honestly, that paragraph describes all there is to describe when it comes to Mr. Pickles. I would not recommend this show to anybody -- even those who like gore and shock value would do better to go find somewhere else with more interesting context and a better plot to go along with it.

The fact that anybody in these reviews is claiming this show to be inappropriate for children just demonstrates that they have no idea how to parent. The fact that any parent would even think about letting a child watch this is mind boggling. It's rated MA for a reason. It is hard not to laugh out loud through these episodes-I wish they were longer and more frequent. I can't get enough of this show, butt there's so much detail in every scene that it's very re-watchable. Highly recommend it. This is a show that never disappoints, regardless of the theme of an episode. It's just... so creative.
I mentioned this in my review of Brickleberry, but I don't like the current mindset of adult cartoons being there just to shock people. Mr Pickles is no different. The animation is just hideous. It's like a rancid barf bag had a baby. The gore in this show is just mindless, with no sense of wit, charm, or direction. If it's meant to be serious, it's too fast paced to let anything sink in. If it's meant to be funny, then there's no sense of a joke. It's just "Here's some messed up junk because we can do it.". The characters are either bland, stupid, jerks, punching bags, or even all of the above. The show has no sense of pacing, with things going by too fast or too slow. The show needs major retooling before I can even tolerate it.
My grade: 0/10 (If I could, this would be my score)

I have no idea where this show will go on from here, don't see how the storyline hasn't been milked in one episode but i'm open to be surprised. Where that i do love storyline above the rest of the content, the sheer recklessness it's willing to show and cause, i believe the animators folly know what they are doing. Throwing away the plane rudeness most show try to cover up with an unguided story arch, this show confronts you with what we most like in adult cartoons. Uncensored craziness and mind-blowing creativity. Leaving dignity and respect for anything in this world behind, Mr pickles has the potential to become something memorable in the adult cartoon industry. I can't speak for the episodes to come, but the pilot is certainly a must watch if you like something that deviates from the norm. it's rude, gory and has no self-control...i love it.
