In the movie, Grug talks about how he hasn't seen a banana for years, since he was a 'cub' - this is in fact a pretty huge issue for him when he comes across bananas in this movie. However in the first movie, Guy hands Grug a banana (while wearing a bunch of bananas on his head) when they're getting to know each other better. Grug promptly throws the banana on the ground in anger before slipping on it. This happens at approximately 52min 32sec into the first movie.
