I don't normally write reviews for short films, but I really didn't enjoy this film and feel like it may be helpful for the filmmaker to hear some feedback to try and grow.
30 seconds in and I wanted this film to end. It felt like a film cliche on top of a film cliche on top of a film cliche. Everything from performance, script, direction.. the lighting was good and sound was good. It's also the third film I've seen in a 12 month span involving a body in an elevator and a heavy handed metaphor.
I don't want to disparage the creatives involved. I know it takes a lot of effort to make a short film, but please learn from this one and do the opposite of everything this film was.
I'm also not sure if this was a student or first-time film--it certainly feels like it. If this is the case, please chalk this film up to a learning experience and make several more short films to find your voice! You can do it! Just don't fall into the trap, that many young filmmakers fall into, thinking this film is amazing and audiences just don't understand your artistry.
