Two previously unreleased tracks from the supergroup Palms, featuring Deftones singer Chino Moreno and members of the defunct post-metal band Isis, have been unearthed.
The songs have been combined under the title “Opening Titles / End Credits” and have been released via Ipecac Recordings. Likely hailing from the sessions that yielded Palms’ sole self-titled LP in 2013, the 10-minute piece serves as a reminder of the gorgeous post-metal music that the Moreno-fronted project produced.
The singer is backed by core instrumentalists in Isis: bassist Jeff Caxide, drummer Aaron Harris and guitarist Bryant Clifford Meyer. As opposed to the more sludgy/metallic nature of that band and Deftones’ harsher tendencies, Palms falls more into the shoegazey dream-pop camp, with Moreno’s soaring vocals bedded by lush guitar lines and tidal crescendos.
Ipecac releasing previously unheard Palms material might be a one-off, though the move could also hint at a possible reissue of their self-titled album.

Mariah Carey paid tribute to the late George Michael on Friday, with a cover of his song “One More Try.”

At Sunday’s Grammy awards, fans watched as Adele struggled to make it through her tribute to the late George Michael. And although the 28-year-old singer ultimately performed an emotional take on Michael’s 1996 hit “Fastlove” by herself — the original tribute idea actually included three more stars.
From the start, Michael’s longtime manager, Michael Lippman, hoped that Grammy host James Corden — whose famed “Carpool Karaoke” series began with Michael as the passenger — would share the stage along with Adele, Beyoncé and Rihanna, reports Billboard.

Mere days after George Michael was found dead in his home on Christmas day, friend and fellow music superstar Sir Elton John paid tribute to the later singer with an emotional performance of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”—which the pair sang together in 1990. Now John has honored the singer on his Beats 1 show, Rocket Hour.
“Not only was he a good friend, but he was probably one of the most brilliant songwriters this country’s ever produced, and certainly one of the best vocalists ever,” he told listeners. “One of the best in the world.

Since George Michael's untimely, tragic death from heart failure on Christmas Day, there has been an outpouring of love for his life and work from his family members and celebrities alike. Close friend Mariah Carey is one of the many struggling to come to terms with the 53-year-old's passing. After tweeting about how he was an "inspiration," the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer penned a lengthy letter on her website about all the ways the legendary musician affected her singing career. "George was only 53 at the time of his passing. He left us way too soon," she began. "He was a genius that gave us classics like 'Faith' as well as boundary pushing singles 'I Want Your Sex' and 'Father Figure.' He also gave us the First modern Christmas classic with 'Last Christmas.'" In addition to touching on his professional accomplishments, Mariah made sure...

Adam Wingard showed a talent for tongue-in-cheek thrills, riffing on the home invasion genre with You're Next, but with The Guest he's one-upped his game and chosen the perfect vessel for doing so in Dan Stevens. The "Downton Abbey" star plays David, a man who introduces himself to the Peterson family as a soldier and friend of their son who died in the war. More specifically he plays something of a Jason Bourne run amuck, though, for the Petersons, that might not necessarily be a bad thing... at first. Since the death of their son the Petersons appear to have grown apart. Mom (Sheila Kelley) and dad (Leland Orser) fight a lot while Luke (Brendan Meyer) is dealing with bullies at school and his older sister, Anna (Maika Monroe), is in her rebelious phase, trying to deal with the fact she's almost 21 and still living at home while saving for college.

George Michael was one of the biggest stars of the 80′s and early 90′s, starting with Wham! and then solo. Since his debut, he’s sold over 100 million records worldwide and notched eight #1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
He’s had a tougher time personally and professionally since the mid-90′s thanks to a prolonged battle with Sony records and very public legal problems, but he’s been publicly out for over fifteen years, and hopefully he’s found his freedom.
Today is his 51st birthday, so let’s take a look back and try to pick out the 20 best singles of his career, both solo and with Wham! This is a good place to start The Essential George Michael Collection.

Year: 1985

It’s been a long wait filled with fits and starts for Mariah Carey’s new album, first titled “The Art Of Letting Go,” and now, awkwardly called “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse.” Yes, I know the background behind the title and she could have gone with “Me,” or “I Am Mariah” or “The Elusive Chanteuse,” but all three is a bit of overkill. And so it is with the album. At 14 tracks on the standard edition, Carey is determined to show us all of her tricks, between her multiple-octave range and her “I’m still really street, R&B” side (not to mention that she can still rock a crocheted bathing suit). The album succeeds in many levels, but on some songs—“Cry,” “Camouflage,” “It’s A Wrap” (a duet with Mary J. Blige on the Deluxe version), the lyrics read like journal entries that don’t...

It’s been in the works for a long time, and Mariah Carey's new record is finally ready to be released into the wild.
Titled “Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse,” the much-anticipated project will hit stores on May 27th and according to Carey it takes its moniker from “a personal possession of mine that’s part of an entity that I’ve had almost all of my life.”
In a new clip, Mariah pleads with her fans, “Please don’t judge me for such a simplistic title. Come on, I was only three and a half.”
As for the tracklisting, it seems that there’s plenty to be excited about:
1. Cry.

Mariah Carey wants you to know a few things about her new album, now titled “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse,” but the first take away is that she looks smoking hot in a bathing suit. Before we think about the music, before we think about the voice, she wants us to think about how after two babies, she can still rock that body. And that makes me sad. I am a Carey fan, both of her music and of her as a person. I’ve interviewed and met her a number of times over the past 20 years and I’ve found her delightfully real, whipsmart, and funny, which is not how she always comes across in one staged, airbrushed photo after another. So when I heard the album title and then saw the album cover, my heart sunk a little. Yes, she looks beautiful, but it makes me...

The final week of blind auditions on The Voice kicked off strong Monday for Team Blake and Team Adam, as each coach earned four more artists and battled for the night's strongest singers.
It was also an evening of memorable and falsetto-filled soul performances, capped by 38-year-old Josh Kaufman, an academic tutor from Indianapolis, who stunned with his passionate version of George Michael's "One More Try," earning the night's only four-chair turn.
So inspired was the singing, that Adam Levine was standing up and pumping his fist in excitement before the song was even over.
"Damn… badass," Levine enthused.

'The Voice' Recap: Blind Auditions Part 5 Attract Standouts Josh Kaufman, Ddendyl And Ceirra Mickens
In the fifth installment of The Voice’s blind auditions, Shakira came out on top, picking up two fabulous female artists, Ddendyl and Cierra Mickens. Coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton continued their fight to be the most ridiculous, while the singers came out ready to sing their hearts out.
First up was Kat Perkins, 33, a cowgirl from a small town who has transformed from country crooner to rocker chic. Her band, Scarlet Haze, even opened for Bon Jovi, but when she broke up with her husband, who was the drummer of the band, Kat became a nanny. Kat auditioned with Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman,” earning her a three-chair turn-around and standing ovation courtesy of Usher, Shakira and Adam. Kat performed with a slow burn, building up her voice until the end, when she finally got Adam and Shakira to turn. In the end, Adam won...

Well, "Voice" fans, its the last week of blind auditions for Season 6 and, as open spaces on each team begin to dwindle, it'll prove awfully hard to earn a spot on either Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher or Shakira's team. So who made it through on Monday (March 10)? Let's get to it.
First up is Kat Perkins, a former country singer-turned-rocker whose band opened for Bon Jovi before she divorced her drummer husband. After disbanding, she became a nanny, but is ready to go back to what she knows she was born to do. She takes the stage with Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman" and she really sounds incredible. It's a bit startling that no one jumps to turn for her, but finally Adam and Shakira make their move, followed by Usher after that massive bridge. In the end, however, she goes with Adam because of how determined...
