Although news of his exit from “General Hospital” was first announced in December, with his character being killed off after being injected with digitalis by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), actor Evan Hofer has now officially exited the daytime drama series with his name removed from the show’s contract cast list as shown at the end of the Friday, February 28 episode.

The change in status comes as Hofer continued appearing on the series, often in flashbacks and mourning scenes involving Dex’s girlfriend, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), despite remaining a corpse. He most recently appeared in a flashback where Cyrus removed Dex’s hospital band while his body was in the General Hospital morgue.

Making his daytime debut in the soap opera’s May 6, 2022 episode, Hofer’s name had appeared on the contract list between cast members Josh Kelly (Cody Bell) and Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine).

Bassinger got her acting start in the world of Nickelodeon, having a recurring role in the supernatural sitcom The Haunted Hathaways and leading the comedy Bella and the Bulldogs. Bassinger stars in The Man in the White Van as Margaret, the older sister to Madison Wolfe's Annie who, as she gets closer to becoming 18, wants to follow in her mom's footsteps to become a prim and formal woman. This, in turn, has alienated the two sisters as they frequently find themselves at odds, particularly as Margaret begins dating a new person.

General Hospital has recently revealed the departure of actor Evan Hofer. Notably, the actor has been portraying Dex Heller on the soap since May 5, 2022. The actor himself and his cast-mates, have also talked about the decision to write off the character.

In 2022, Hofer joined the cast of General Hospital. He plays the character of Dex Heller, a discharged army vet. At one point, the character notably got hired as a mole within Sonny Corinthos’ organization by his adopted son Michael.

A body that washed ashore on Venice Beach on Wednesday has been identified as missing former WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard.

“A body was recovered from the water early this morning near Ocean Front Walk and Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles. The person was later identified as Shad Gaspard,” a rep for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed to TheWrap, adding that an examination is pending.

Gaspard, 39, who alongside fellow wrestler Jtg was one-half of WWE tag team Cryme Tyme, was swept away by a rip current on Sunday while swimming with his 10-year-old son. Lifeguards were able to save Gaspard’s son. A search commenced for the missing person.

The body was found early this morning by passersby. Gaspard’s family was seen at the beach this morning with investigators.

Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard, one-half of tag team Cryme Tyme, has gone missing after being dragged out to sea by a strong undertow in the Marina Del Rey Beach area.

Gaspard, 39, was swimming with his 10-year-old son when lifeguards began rescuing swimmers from the dangerous waters around 4 p.m., according to TMZ. Gaspard’s son was saved, the outlet added, after the ex-wrestler instructed lifeguards to help the boy first before coming back for him.

Officials also told TMZ that they believe Gaspard “did submerge” in the ocean.

Representatives for the Los Angeles County Fire Department did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Brec Bassinger is definitely one to watch. With the premiere of Stargirl, the 20-year-old actress has taken the titular role and made it her own. The Texas native is best known for her role of unlikely quarterback Bella Dawson on Nickelodeon's Bella and the Bulldogs, though she's also had roles in a handful of other shows including The Goldbergs and The Haunted Hathaways, as well as movies like 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Both her portrayals of Bella and Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl share the idea that the characters are taking on a role traditionally played by a man.

Stargirl is certainly a more obscure superhero than say Supergirl or Wonder Woman, but she isn't any less heroic. Bassinger expertly portrays the teenage girl who takes on a little more than she can probably handle. NBC has put in development multi-camera comedy Save the Deli, based on David Sax’s book of the same name, from writer Lauren Bachelis (Single By 30), This is Us star Milo Ventimiglia and Russ Cundiff’s Divide Pictures and 20th Century Fox TV, where Divide is under a deal.

Written by Bachelis, Save the Deli is a family workplace comedy centering on a 30-year-old woman, who much to the shock of her family, friends and mostly herself, becomes the new owner of her Chicago family deli after her grandfather dies. Naturally, her very opinionated staff and family members make the job unbearable since they all have conflicting ideas of how to save the deli.

In addition to using Sax’s book, published by Houghton Mifflin in 2009, as source material, Save the Deli draws on Bachelis’ personal experiences. Her grandfather owned Mort’s, the Jewish deli in Tarzana.

The project follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (aka Stargirl), who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes — the Justice Society of America — to stop the villains of the past.

The world of Web Series is about as diverse as it gets. From format, to genre, to production quality, they’re everywhere, and some of them take the opportunity to go for a risk.

Gearing up for another year of excitement, the 46th Annual NAACP Image Awards just unveiled the first round of hopefuls and there are plenty of worthy contenders.

In the television categories, Shonda Rhimes’ series “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder” are among the most nominated, though “Black-ish” is also up there. Meanwhile, “Selma” and “Get on Up” are the top two movies on the docket, ahead of the big event on Friday, February 6th, 2015. Per the official website, “The NAACP Image Awards honors the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film, and honors those who promote social justice through creative endeavors.”

Paramount’s Selma, Universal’s Get On Up and Lionsgate’s Dear White People are among the Outstanding Motion Picture nominees for the NAACP’s Image Awards, which will be bestowed live on TVOne on February 6. The nominees for the 46th annual NAACP Image Awards were announced Tuesday, lauding the year's best films and television shows -- among other artforms -- featuring people of color.

"Selma" led the pack with eight nominations, including nods for best picture, best actor (David Oyelowo), three supporting actor nods (André Holland, Common, and Wendell Pierce), and two supporting actress nods (Carmen Ejogo and Oprah Winfrey). Director Ava DuVernay was also nominated for her work behind the camera.

On the television front, "Scandal" and "Orange Is the New Black" tied with six nominations apiece, while fellow freshman series "black-ish" and "How to Get Away with Murder" each received five nods.

The Writers Guild of America announced the TV nominees for the 2015 WGA Awards on Thursday (December 4) morning and several new shows broke into the fields in a big way. And, of course, there were a number of big WGA Award nomination head-scratchers. Specifically, where the heck was FX's "Fargo"? The answer is below. Making perhaps the biggest splash was "Transparent," which earned three nominations and, since "Orange Is The New Black" earned two nods and "House of Cards" pick up one, that meant that Amazon Prime and Netflix are, at least for one award-giving organization, on equal footing as creators of original programming. Fifth Harmony has landed another gig. The five-member girl group, formed on season two of The X Factor, will take the stage as the latest performer at the sixth annual Nickelodeon Halo Awards on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., The Hollywood Reporter has learned. They join a previously announced musical lineup that includes Jessie J, Nick Jonas, Meghan Trainor, Echosmith and The Vamps. Exclusive: New full-service management and production company Leibo has opened in Los Angeles anchored by Jason Leibovitch, who most recently served as VP Distribution and Development for California Pictures (Scavengers, A Warrior’s Heart). Leibovitch’s client roster includes WGA-winning screenwriter Bryce Zabel (Pandemic, M.A.N.T.I.S., Dark Skies, The Crow, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation), who served as Chairman and CEO of the TV Academy from 2001-2003.

Leibo is also repping actor Shad Gaspard, the WWE wrestler-turned-actor who made over 100 WWE appearances and recently appeared on Nickelodeon’s Haunted Hathaways. Gaspard also has a role in Dan Pritzker’s Buddy Bolden biopic Bolden! and Warner Bros’ upcoming Will Ferrell comedy Get Hard.

The nominees for the 29th Annual Imagen Awards, honoring portrayals of Latinos and Latino cultures in television and film, have been announced and Diego Luna's "Cesar Chavez" is up for four awards:

Ride Along isn't really a movie made for kids, but a Kevin Hart comedy with Ice Cube and "Haunted Hathaways" Benjamin Flores Jr. - well, that's enough to get us interested! KidsPickFlicks' Movie Star Movie Crix Joel Courtney (Super 8) and Katherine McNamara (Contest) say, as advertised, Ride Along is Really Funny, but for younger kids, well, it's not. 

"Ice Cube and Kevin Hart make a great team in the action-packed comedy Ride Along. This bad-cop/crazy-cop duo takes on a major crime lord on the streets of Atlanta, allowing Ben (Kevin Hart) to prove that he is worthy of James' (Ice Cube) sister, Angela (Tika Sumpter). The comedy in this movie is top notch! The perfect blend of a comedy and an action film, Ride Along keeps you laughing on the edge of your seat! However, the language and subject matter of some scenes may is a bit mature for younger audiences.

Nickelodeon has renewed The Haunted Hathaways for a full second season of 22 episodes. They're expected to kick off some time in 2014.

Only 11 episodes of the series' first season have aired so far. Nickelodeon intitially ordered 20 episodes and then wanted more, bringing the first season total to 26 installments. The next original episode will run on November 2nd.

The Haunted Hathaways follows a single mom and her two daughters as they move into a new home that's haunted by a dad and his two sons. The cast includes Amber Montana, Curtis Harris, Benjamin Flores Jr., Breanna Yde, Ginifer King, and Chico Benymon.

Additionally, the cable network has extended the second season of Nick at Nite‘s See Dad Run with an order for 13 additionally episodes. In its first season, Haunted Hathaways is drawing 2.3 million total viewers and averages a 4.0/1.3M with kids 2-11 and a 5.0/959K with kids 6-11. The series is posting 13% year-over-year gains with kids 2-11 and 6-11 in the Saturday 8:30 Pm slot. In its second season, See Dad Run is averaging 1.2 million total viewers, up 3% among adults 18-49 in the Sunday 8 Pm period.
