I don't mind small budgeted movies, some a really hidden gems such as House Hunting or Wrong House as it's known in some countries.
Now most small budget films fall into the category that The Box did.
The subject has been done before, think of Phone Booth in which a man confessed to all of his Ill doings, well this is exactly the same but this time the man has to do tasks to himself, if he doesn't he will get electrocuted by a small device attached to his ankle, yes really. They could have thought of a better idea there.
Now such scenes as tattooing rapist on his arm, he could have that covered up with the money he has, didn't the kidnapper think of that. Stapling his lips together, stabbing his eye, then stabbing himself, now a bit more happens but nothing worth writing about.
When you find out who the kidnapper is, it won't come as any surprise to anyone who has watched at least a dozen movies.
So I don't mind movies like this but have a bit of imagination please, nothing holds the viewer here, no tension, you don't care about the story, in fact it's kind of boring, you then don't care if the guy dies or not and like I said you will guess who is doing all this before the so calle d then if reveal.
Not worth watching, sorry, I admire the effort but not this time.
