Lex Scott Davis has joined the cast as a series regular in CBS’ drama pilot based on Antoine Fuqua's "Training Day." This will be at least the 3rd cop movie with a black lead that CBS has considered turning into a weekly TV series - "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Rush Hour" are the other 2. Of course we know that the network would eventually pass on the "Beverly Hills Cop" TV series which was to star Brandon T. Jackson as Axel Foley's son (although a pilot was produced); the "Rush Hour" series, on the other hand, was ordered and is set to debut this year, as a mid-season replacement. He has two drama projects with significant commitments at the broadcast networks: an untitled 1950s Hawaii put pilot at Fox, which he is co-writing with Davey Holmes, with Justin Lin directing; and an ABC drama with Last Resort co-creator Karl Gajdusek, which has a sizable penalty. Ryan also has projects in the works on cable, including a mining town drama at HBO and FX limited series Mad Dogs, based on the British black comedy/psychological thriller miniseries. The pilot of the Beverly Hills Cop TV show has been turned down by another network. But there's another movie in the works instead...
It's been a little while now since there was news of the planned TV show of Beverly Hills Cop. It was being devleoped by the genius behind The Shield, Shawn Ryan, and a pilot had been made, that put Percy Jackson's Brandon T Jackson centre stage.
However, Ryan has now posted an update on his Twitter page, and for fans of Beverly Hills Cop, it sounds a bit two steps forward, two steps back. The two steps back come with the news that "efforts to land Beverly Hills Cop pilot at another network have failed", with Ryan declaring "this iteration is dead for now".

"Beverly Hills Cop: The Series" is officially dead, but "Beverly Hills Cop 4" has come back to life.
"The Shield" and "Last Resort" creator Shawn Ryan's attempt to revive the Bhc franchise as a TV series hit a snag back in May when CBS passed on the already produced pilot.
Ryan has since been trying to shop the pilot around to other networks, but admitted yesterday on Twitter that those efforts have been for nought. It has, however, had an unexpected side effect. Ryan tweets:
"Sad to report that efforts to land Beverly Hills Cop pilot at another network have failed. This iteration is dead for now. Good news for fans of franchise is that the pilot tested so well, it has caused Paramount to put another #Bhc movie into development."
No further details were on hand about the movie and whether the series pilot star Brandon T. Jackson...

Season 3 of "Hawaii Five-0" looked for all the world that it was going to end with a few unanswered questions, but well short of the cliffhangers that have marked the close of the first two seasons.
Yes, Kono, Adam and Doris McGarrett are on their way to China at the end of Monday's (May 20) episode, and Doris and Steve still haven't talked about what the heck is up with her and Wo Fat. But had it ended there, we would still konw that Kono is in the clear and promising to return, that Danny and Gabrielle end up back in each other's arms and that Charlie is going to be Ok.
And Doris? Well, CBS didn't pick up "Beverly Hills Cop," so Christine Lahti might be available to return. And besides, maybe Wo Fat will just tell Steve what the deal is ...
And then we get to that final scene.

< Nearly everyone involved in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief has moved on and grown up a bit-- Logan Lerman warring in last fall's The Perks of Being A Wallflower, Brandon T. Jackson to TV's Beverly Hills Cop TV series and Jake Abel to The Host just last weekend. But the gang's all back, with Nathan Fillion inexplicably added to the mix, for Percy Jackson and the Sea Monsters, whose first trailer just debuted at MTV. When I interviewed Abel about The Host last week it was interesting hearing him admit that the Percy Jackson series is pretty much exclusively for kids at this point, which might be tough for a twenty-something actor making his way in the world but also provides a pretty steady paycheck. And as evidenced by all the work these actors have gotten since Lightning Thief, it's definitely not hurting that they're most recognizable to elementary...

If you barely remember “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” we don’t blame you. It came out over three years ago and raked in only $88 million in the domestic box office, making a large majority of its money in the foreign market. So now we have the sequel, “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,” which comes out this summer and the first images from the movie have just landed online. Hopefully, viewing these photos will help refresh your memory regarding the franchise. The movie stars Logan Lerman (“Perks of Being a Wallflower”) as well as Stanley Tucci, Nathan Fillion, Missi Pyle, Mary Birdsong, and Brandon T. Jackson (“Tropic Thunder, the new "Beverly Hills Cop"). In 'Sea of Monsters,' Percy Jackson and his friends’ adventures continue as they look for the golden fleece in order to save Camp Half-Blood’s magical borders from sinister foes. Sounds exciting. For those...

It's pilot season, which means the broadcast networks are in an order frenzy for episodes of potential new shows for the fall season. While the more covered likes of Shawn Ryan's "Beverly Hills Cop" and Joss Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." are out there in the mix, here's a look at five of the most intriguing projects we hadn't heard of to have gotten orders to far, based on descriptions, what they're being adapted from and who's involved. Some of these will be heading to a TV near you someday -- and some will be lost in limbo forever. The Returned (ABC) Based on a novel by Jason Mott that's due out in September, "The Returned" is a drama being written by Aaron Zelman ("The Killing," "Damages") and produced by Plan B, Brillstein Entertainment and ABC Studios. ABC has opted not to give full season orders for its new dramas "Last Resort" and "666 Park Avenue," effectively axing both shows.
Though the network picked up two additional scripts for each show, they've decided not to produce them or further episodes beyond the original thirteen episode order. Both series will be allowed to finish airing their already produced thirteen episodes.
ABC passed on both shows due to underwhelming ratings. 'Resort' was averaging over seven million viewers per episode in its 8pm Thursday timeslot, one of the hardest for the network to fill. Shows like "Missing" and the "Charlie's Angels" reboot have all died in the same timeslot over the past eighteen months.
'666' was pulling in around five million viewers per episode. ABC will likely fill those slots with some of its new mid-season dramas like "Zero Hour," "Mistresses" and "Red Widow."
