DocuBay, the Indian documentary streaming platform under IN10 Media Network, is set to release “Bad Toys Inc.,” a 45-minute original film exploring India’s burgeoning sex toy industry. The doc, slated for a July 26 debut, offers a peek into the country’s evolving attitudes towards pleasure products.

The film delves into regional preferences, consumer stories and industry insights, featuring interviews with sexologist Dr. Prakash Kothari and founders of emerging sex toy startups. It also touches on legal aspects and historical context of pleasure accessories in India.

Girish Dwibhashyam, COO of DocuBay, touted the film as a “novel viewing experience” that uncovers surprising facts about the Indian market. Producer Richa Sahai of Black Iris noted the challenges and excitement of creating content on this taboo topic.

Netflix’s Anime Onmyoji introduced Abe no Seimei as a divine and all-knowing Onmyoji whom Lord Hiromasa of the capital visited to ask for his help to protect the Emperor from a demon who rode in a phantom oxcart. The demon princess had made a week-long journey to reach the capital to make the Emperor pay for what he did to her. Hesitant at first, Seimei eventually decided to accompany Hiromasa to the capital. Seimei wasn’t like other Onmyoji, and he didn’t merely vanquish demons; he made sure that their souls were cleansed and they didn’t harbor any bittersweet grudges.

Seimei was rational and strategic; thus, he rarely jumped the gun like Marihara. His biggest strength wasn’t his mystic powers but the ability to rein in his haughtiness when faced with a superior threat. However, there were many in the capital who were weary of his cold and stone-hearted demeanor.

In prosperous ancient Kyoto, court musician Minamoto Hiromasa, grandson of Emperor Daigo, visits the residence of the official onmyoji — the yin-yang diviners — in hopes of unraveling the mysteries of the demons that disturb the city. Streaming service Netflix dropped a trailer for its next Original project, simply titled Onymoji. The series is both the first anime adaptation for the popular Japanese historical fantasy book series, and the first standalone production for the studio Marvy Jack. Interested viewers can expect this new show to appear on November 28, 2023.

The new anime likely faces some difficulty with international recognition, as it shares many similarities with an unrelated videogame of the same name. Studio Marvy Jack will also be under scrutiny for its first standalone production, which hopefully will be up to fans' standards.

Nonetheless, the Heian era of Japan is an uncommon setting for anime, which ought to make it stand out enough among a sea of other fantasy tales.
