Tracie Brennan, who spent about two decades as an executive with Al Roker’s production company, died Saturday in a hospital in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, after a battle with Als, a publicist announced. She was 64.
Brennan joined Al Roker Entertainment in 2005 as vp production & operations, then was upped to executive vp in 2013.
During her stay there, she worked on such reality projects as The Show, The D.E.A., Coast Guard Alaska, Life Aid: A Story of Hope, ChefShock, Side-By-Side for Northwell Health, The Graduates NYC and the upcoming Weather Hunters for PBS Kids.
“I lost a dear friend and integral part of Al Roker Entertainment over the weekend,” Roker, the longtime Today show weatherman and co-host, wrote in a post on LinkedIn. “Tracie Brennan was with me for more than 20 years. She lost a tough fight with Als.”

NBCU’s Wilshire Studios Inks Overall Deals With Producers Stephanie Bloch Chambers & C. Russell Muth
NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s Wilshire Studios is ramping up its unscripted development slate, inking new overall deals with Stephanie Bloch Chambers (Chrisley Knows Best, Married To Jonas) and C. Russell Muth (DEA, Bordertown Laredo). Chambers worked on Bravo’s Toned Up, It’s A Brad Brad World and three seasons of Bethenny Ever After. Muth produced shows for Discovery Channel and TruTV such as American Chopper, American Casino, Tiger Team, and America’s Toughest Bars. He also produced Coast Guard Alaska for the Weather Channel and Big Easy Justice for Spike. Wilshire Studios also is growing its internal development team, hiring reality vet Benny Reuven as VP Development and Programming. Reuven previously served as a development executive at Own and produced shows including Chef Wanted for Food Network.

Exclusive: Former Real Housewives Of New Jersey star Dina Manzo is returning to the docu-reality genre with a new series project chronicling her life. Manzo has signed a development deal with Al Roker‘s Al Roker Entertainment for the project, which “will document Dina’s new chapter.” Manzo recently announced her split from Tommy Manzo, her husband of seven years. The couple’s lavish 2005 wedding was documented on VH1′s My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding. “This collaboration will be an opportunity for Dina’s fans to go behind the scenes into her world — which is different than most people would expect,” Roker said. The Weather Channel, which has been diversifying its content away from covering just weather for years, has added to its slate of original programming a spin-off to its successful Coast Guard Alaska series. Coast Guard Florida mirrors the content of its Alaskan brother and shares the same producers, but this time expands the scope -- instead of focusing on just one Coast Guard station, it splits its time among outposts in Miami, the Keys and Clearwater.
