Last year’s San Diego Comic-Con was a subdued event for the MCU, largely due to the SAG-AFTRA strike preventing actors and writers from promoting their movies.
Recently, Marvel Studios confirmed their return to Hall H. While the exact lineup remains a mystery, speculation points to ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ as a major focus, especially with the film premiering that same weekend. Rumors also suggest we may get glimpses of ‘Thunderbolts,’ ‘Wonder Man,’ and updates on ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’
However, as is tradition, Sdcc also serves as a platform to unveil new projects in development. Despite Bob Iger’s announcement about reducing MCU’s creative output, rumors persist about several undisclosed projects currently in the works. Here’s what we’re eagerly anticipating.

Last year’s San Diego Comic-Con was a sad affair in terms of MCU primarily due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that prohibited the actors and writers from promoting their movies.
Recently, we’ve gotten confirmation that Marvel Studios is returning to Hall H. As for what Marvel could be showing off, that’s still up in the air, but we can guess that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ will be a huge topic of discussion considering that the movie premiers that same weekend. It’s also been rumored that we’re going to get our first glimpse at ‘Thunderbolts*,’ ‘Wonder Man,’ and a few more sneak peeks into the overall state of ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’
But as always, Sdcc is also an opportunity to announce new projects in development. Bob Iger did announce that MCU will be reducing its creative output, still, rumors pointed out that there are still...

With just over a week to go until this year's San Diego Comic-Con takes place, excitement is building for an event which, in recent years, has ended up being a pretty low-key affair.
DC Studios will be sitting it out, but Marvel Studios plans to return for the first time since 2022 with not one, but two Hall H panels.
While their main panel will only be an hour long on Saturday night, we're expecting plenty of huge updates about what the future holds in store for the MCU and the Multiverse Saga. In this feature, we share both our predictions and the announcements and reveals we believe are most likely to blow the roof off Hall H courtesy of Kevin Feige.
To see what could be on the way, you just need to hit that "Next"/"View List" button below...

‘Wonder Man’ is one of the upcoming live-action shows in the MCU, based on the comic book character of the same name. The show faced development challenges and was rumored to be canceled multiple times over the past few years. However, it has recently been confirmed that the show is still in production and has added a notable cast member.
According to Deadline, Byron Bowers, known for his roles in ‘The Chi’ and ‘Lady in the Lake,’ has joined the show, although his role remains undisclosed.
That, however, doesn’t stop us from speculating about which character he might play. With much of the main cast already announced and Wonder Man being a relatively obscure character, the pool of possible roles for Byron is limited.

‘Wonder Man’ is just one more in line of upcoming MCU live-action shows. The show is based on the comic book character of the same name. Despite rumors that the show had been scrapped, Marvel Studios' Wonder Man is still very much alive, and is continuing to round out its supporting cast.
According to Deadline, the latest actor to join the series is Byron Bowers, who is set to appear in the Alma Har’el-directed limited series Lady In The Lake alongside Natalie Portman. His other credits include Showtime’s The Chi, Honey Boy, Concrete Cowboy, No Sudden Move, and Kimi.
Bowers' character has not been disclosed - though that doesn't necessarily mean his role is being kept under wraps for any interesting reason.
As some predicted, it seems "Wonder Man" is going to be its own film franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as recent set photos gave us a look at the movie's logo. Though the silhouette didn't feature Simon Williams' (Yahya Abdul-Mateen) likeness, it did give us a glimpse of the character's superhero chest emblem.

After a decade of domination starting with 2008’s Iron Man upto 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Marvel and the MCU’s fortunes dwindled a little bit in the 5th Phase. With films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels not finding favor with audiences and critics, and series like Secret Invasion sinking without a trace, a lot is riding on the franchise to resurrect itself in future projects.

Angel Studios' Sound Of Hope: The Story Of Possum Trot tells the true story of Bishop and First Lady Donna Martin, and their tiny Bennett Chapel church, in the town of Possum Trot in the woods of East Texas.
Twenty-two families linked arms and courageously adopted seventy-seven of the most difficult-to-place children in the local foster care system, igniting a national movement for vulnerable children that continues today.
Last week, we sat down with stars Demetrius Grosse (Fear The Walking Dead) and Nika King (Euphoria) to discuss their roles as Reverend Wc Martin and First Lady Donna Martin.
Explaining how they tapped into the charming dynamic between the husband and wife, we hear from the actors about getting to meet the real-life Reverand and First Lady, what it was like delivering sermons on set, and working with rising star Diaana Babnicova.

Many fans will be surprised to learn that the relationship between Kevin Feige and Hugh Jackman goes way back to the latter’s X-Men days. When Jackman came to audition for the last-minute role of Wolverine, Feige was a low-level producer’s assistant on the set. Jackman recalled Feige’s kindness to him when he felt that he had failed the audition.

We've already shared some exciting MCU rumours with you today - including the possible identity of the next Black Panther - but there are so many doing the rounds that it's time for another roundup!
To start, we're going back to The Cosmic Circus. According to the site, Marvel Studios "is not holding back" with Daredevil: Born Again, and the show supposedly takes bigger risks with its story than the Netflix series (it also supposedly has much higher stakes).
Sticking in that corner of the MCU, it's said neither Luke Cage nor Iron Fist will be recast if they return before Avengers: Secret Wars. However, we should "expect Cage to be a more prominent character as opposed to Rand, who is expected to take a backseat role."
It sounds like some big Defenders-related cameos are being lined up for Daredevil: Born Again.
There are other miscellaneous details, including Armor Wars still being in development,...

How many times have we heard interviewers try to get some sort of Marvel Cinematic Universe scoop from an actor? And it basically never works because these folks have been through some serious media training. That said, sometimes you get a little nugget, such as with Letitia Wright talking about Black Panther.

Last year, the industry had to skip many usual promotional events since the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers’ Guild were on strike. Press for films being showcased at film festivals would not feature any actors, and for an event such as San Diego’s Comic-Con International, the panels normally reserved for big movie reveals would become an unforeseen barren wasteland with many canceled appearances. This included panels for Dune: Part Two, The Boys spin-off series Gen V, Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, Lionsgate’s upcoming The Strangers trilogy, and more.

San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 25-28, and Marvel usually comes in at the tail end on the second to last day.

9-1-1 crew member Rico Priem, whose May death brought fresh concern over working hours on sets, died of sudden cardiac dysfunction, according to local officials in Los Angeles. His body was found inside his crashed vehicle after he’d worked two consecutive 14-hour overnight shifts.
Priem, a grip for the Fox procedural, died on May 11 of sudden cardiac dysfunction and cardiomegaly with left ventricular hypertrophy, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, which released his autopsy results this week. Last December, Marvel Studios revealed its plans to release Echo under a new "Marvel Spotlight" banner which gives them "the platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen, and in the case of Echo, focusing on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity."
It's unclear whether the plan moving forward is for all of these TV shows to be rated TV-ma and kept separate from the wider MCU, but with Wonder Man also set to boast that banner, we'd say a combination of both is likely. That allows Marvel Studios to tell a greater range of stories and, with so much talk of "superhero fatigue," it comes at a good time.
However, with Kevin Feige and company also dialling back its streaming offerings, they'll need to be more selective than ever when it comes to deciding which projects will head down this route. Below, we've selected seven characters who...

One of the biggest complaints about the MCU is its size and the number of projects it includes. For a while now, people have criticized the vast cinematic universe because you need to watch a lot of movies and shows to understand references or post-credit scenes in other projects.
This has been called homework since many casual fans don’t like having to watch Disney+ shows that tie into movies. For example, to understand ‘The Marvels,’ you needed to watch ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘WandaVision’ to know how Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan got their powers.
Now that James Gunn is creating his own cinematic universe known as the “Dcu,” fans are curious if they’ll need to do the same amount of catching up before each new project. Gunn clarified on Threads that while all projects will be connected in theory across animation, TV, movies, and video games, each one...

One of the most criticized aspects of the MCU is its sheer size and amount of projects that it, at this point, encompasses. For quite a while now the massive cinematic universe has been criticized because you have to watch tons of movies & shows to perhaps understand a reference or a post-credit scene of a seemingly unrelated project.
This was referred to as homework, since plenty of casual fans don’t appreciate watching Disney+ shows that wrap their stories up in a feature film, like was the case recently with ‘The Marvels,’ in which you had to watch ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘WandaVision’ to understand some aspects of the movie, including how Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan got their powers.
Since James Gunn is now also building his own cinematic universe, newly dubbed “Dcu” and since he recently made some comments on how all projects across animation, television, movies, and video games will be connected,...

Despite Bob Iger’s recent announcement that the MCU will produce fewer new projects, we still have many shows to look forward to that started before the strikes.
One of these is a live-action adaptation of ‘Wonder Man,’ based on the comic book character. The show faced many delays and was rumored to be canceled several times over the past few years. Recently, it was confirmed that the show is still happening, so we decided to summarize everything we know about it so far.
‘Wonder Man’ will follow the story of a stuntman who hits a rough patch
The show will focus on Simon Williams, an actor and stuntman who gains superpowers and becomes a superhero known as Wonder Man. It is described as “Hollywood satire.”
In the comics, Simon Williams is the son of a wealthy industrialist whose business struggles due to competition with Stark Industries. To save the family business,...

We have another round of Marvel Cinematic Universe-related rumors here, with (possible) updates on the X-Men reboot, Disney+'s Wonder Man series, the still not officially-announced Scarlet Witch solo movie, and more.
We'll start with an update on a rumor that did the rounds last week after the Atlanta Filming Instagram page shared a photo of Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong with the caption "why would a sorcerer be in Cap 4?"
As you might expect, this morphed into a rumor that Wong was set to make an appearance in Captain America: Brave New World, but it seems the 3 Body Problem actor was simply in town filming a different project while the MCU movie was undergoing reshoots.
"Yes, he is in town," the photographer clarified in a new post. "People have seen him walking around midtown. But, whether or not he sorcery-ing or not you will have to wait to find out.

Netflix‘s Man on Fire is ready to turn up the heat with Yahya Abdul-Matten II as its lead. In addition to his starring role, Abdul-Mateen II is an executive producer of the project, with Steven Caple Jr. directing the first two episodes. A.J. Quinnell’s first two novels, “Man on Fire” and “The Perfect Kill,” inspired the episodic adaptation focusing on French Foreign Legion soldier John Creasy.
Denzel Washington played John W. Creasy in the Tony Scott-directed feature adaptation Man on Fire. Christopher Walken, Dakota Fanning, Radha Mitchell, and Marc Anthony round out the primary cast. The plot focuses on a former CIA operative who swears vengeance on those who committed an unspeakable act against the family he was hired to protect.

June 4, 2024 – Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley, beloved James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and Star Wars universe luminary Mark Hamill form the ultimate vocal rogues’ gallery in Mofac Animation’s upcoming The King of Kings, an animated family film inspired by a little-known short story by Charles Dickens depicting the life and times of Jesus Christ.
Kingsley voices High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus. Hamill takes on the role of King Herod, who, according to the Gospel of Matthew, ordered the Massacre of the Innocents in an attempt to kill Jesus as an infant. And Brosnan gives animated life to Pontius Pilate, who ultimately ordered the crucifixion of Jesus. The triumvirate of villainous voices further enhances the A-list cast behind the faith-based animated film, which also includes Academy Award & Emmy Award winners Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Golden Globe...

Pierce Brosnan, Mark Hamill and Ben Kingsley are set to bring Jesus Christ’s adversaries to life in an animated feature inspired by a posthumously published story from Charles Dickens.
The three performers will portray villains as part of the star-studded voice cast for director Seong-ho “Jay” Jang’s The King of Kings. Hailing from South Korea-based animation house Mofac Animation, the film is loosely based on The Life of Our Lord, the Dickens short story that was published decades after the author’s death and focuses on the life and times of Christ.
Brosnan voices Pontius Pilate, the biblical figure who ordered Jesus’ crucifixion. Hamill will tackle the role of King Herod, who is described in the Bible as ordering the Massacre of the Innocents shortly after Jesus’ birth. Kingsley is taking on the part of High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus.

At the end of a long week in February 2015, after working an overnight shift as a gaffer and lightning technician on an independent feature film, Chris Walters fell asleep as he was driving home and totaled his truck. Walters, a lifelong Los Angeles resident who joined the entertainment industry right out of high school, was exhausted from consecutive days on set that wrapped late at night or early in the morning. While he was accustomed to such long hours, Walters says, his fatigue finally caught up with him that morning on Interstate 5. Nodding off,...

We all remember Vision, right? He was created after Tony Stark almost doomed the world to be destroyed by a robot, then killed by Thanos and kind of, sort of brought back to life by his wife Wanda in "WandaVision," where he went through a whole identity crisis. He was everyone's favorite Marvel character for about five minutes when he said the whole "What is grief, if not love persevering" thing.
Well, now Vision is back, whether we want it or not. According to Variety, Marvel just ordered a Vision TV series for 2026, with Paul Bettany returning to star as the titular character. Additionally, "Star Trek: Picard" executive producer Terry Matalas will serve as a showrunner of the "Vision" show.

With the release of ‘Echo,’ the MCU underwent significant changes. It became the first TV-ma-rated show in the MCU and the inaugural series under the ‘Marvel Spotlight’ banner, emphasizing character-driven stories that don’t require prior knowledge of previous projects.
During the recent Disney Upfronts presentation, it was revealed that Marvel Studios has segmented its development into several divisions: Marvel Animation, Marvel Television, and Marvel Spotlight. This new strategy aims to simplify the MCU for new fans, making it easier to understand and engage with the universe.
We have long known that more Marvel Spotlight shows are in the works, such as ‘Marvel Zombies,’ which will also be TV-ma rated. There has been speculation that ‘Wonder Man’ could be released under the same banner.
This was recently confirmed by Variety in an interview with Brad Winderbaum. ‘Wonder Man’ will indeed be part of Marvel Spotlight. Since the character has not previously appeared in the MCU,...

With the release of ‘Echo’ plenty of things changed in the MCU. It was the first TV-ma-rated show in the MCU, and the first to be released under the ‘Marvel Spotlight’ banner, meaning that it’s heavily character-oriented and that you don’t have to watch previous projects to understand the story.
Recently, during the Disney Upfronts presentation we saw that MCU, or rather Marvel Studios had separated its development into several segments: Marvel Animation, Marvel Television, and Marvel Spotlight which is also a part of the new strategy to make it easier for new fans to get a good sense regarding what the MCU is about.
Now we always knew that more Marvel Spotlight shows are on the way, primarily ‘Marvel Zombies’ which will likewise be TV-ma rated, and we speculated that ‘Wonder Man’ could also be released under the same banner.
Variety confirmed this fact in a recent interview with Brad Winderbaum.

With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Daniel Destin Cretton no longer attached to Avengers 5, he's been able to focus on Disney+'s upcoming Wonder Man series.
While the show has never been "officially" announced by Marvel Studios, we have a new update from Variety. In a piece addressing the decision to bring back the "Marvel Television" label to better differentiate big and small screen stories, the trade confirms that Wonder Man will fall under the "Marvel Spotlight" banner Echo debuted with in January.
That's meant for one-off, character-driven TV shows which can serve as standalone projects with fewer connections to the wider MCU. However, with Echo, that decision seems to have been made relatively last-minute seeing as it set the stage for Daredevil: Born Again.

Marvel has been coming up with a lot of new strategies to fix the mistakes they have made these past few years. One of the most creative solutions has to be the concept of Marvel Spotlight. Many fans were upset with how every single project in Marvel had a level of continuity to another, which made casual watching impossible.

IATSE, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, announced Friday, May 17 that it has for now concluded negotiations on its Basic Agreement with the AMPTP without yet reaching a tentative agreement on a new contract.
The guild expects to resume talks for the Basic Agreement in early June and will now shift its focus to its Area Standards Agreement, which covers film and TV workers outside of Los Angeles and encompasses another 23 locals around the country. Negotiations for that contract, as previously scheduled, will begin May 20 and continue through May 31. All of this follows IATSE’s 13 individual locals each reaching a tentative deal with the AMPTP on issues specific to their locals.
IATSE’s Basic Agreement contract and the Asa do not expire until July 31, so not reaching a deal does not mean talks broke down. However, some members are demanding more transparency. Earlier this week, a group known as...

A crew member on 9-1-1 died early Saturday morning in a car accident on the highway following a 14-hour overnight shift.
Rico Priem, a grip for the Fox procedural and a member of the crew union IATSE Local 80, was involved in a car crash after working Friday night through Saturday morning on a location shoot in Pomona, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. IATSE and the show’s studio, 20th Television, confirmed the death in statements on Monday after crew members began posting about the tragedy on social media over the weekend.
“We are fully committed to the safety and the well-being of all our members and express our heartfelt condolences to the member’s family,” IATSE said in its statement. “Workers have a reasonable expectation that they can get to work and come home safely. No one should be put in unsafe circumstances while trying to earn a living.

Avengers 5 was originally titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, only for the movie to lose that shortly after Marvel Studios decided to take the focus off Kang the Conqueror (a result of the mixed response to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Jonathan Majors' legal troubles).
However, a new actor is expected to play a Kang Variant who will still be the Multiverse Saga's main threat. Meanwhile, Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron is overhauling Avengers 5's script after Jeff Loveness first took a crack at it.
He was supposedly fired from the project shortly after the Ant-Man threequel flopped, while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton has moved on to Wonder Man and the Shang-Chi sequel.

How much Marvel is too much? That question has hung over the MCU for more than five years, since Avengers: Endgame gave viewers an easy jumping off point. In that time, Marvel has released 25 movies, TV series, and specials, few of them pleasing all but the most committed fans.
It’s no surprise that, since he came back as Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger has talked several times about reducing MCU output. He hasn’t offered much in the way of specifics until now, but that still raises questions about the franchise’s future success.

One of the highly anticipated projects in the MCU that has been generating buzz among fans is ‘Wonder Man.’ This Hollywood satire features Williams as an actor-turned-superhero in Tinseltown.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is set to portray Simon Williams (Wonder Man), alongside Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Grosse, and Ed Harris. Recently, amidst speculation surrounding the fate of ‘Wonder Man,’ which had endured a prolonged period in development with minimal updates, rumors circulated about its potential cancellation, particularly before the historic SAG-AFTRA project concluded.
Nexus Point News has uncovered new details about the production team. A crew member’s resume lists director Tiffany Johnson, recognized for her work on ‘Poker Face’ and ‘Dear White People,’ alongside Destin Daniel Cretton and Stella Meghie, hinting at Johnson potentially directing an episode of ‘Wonder Man.’

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made a solid $432 million when it opened in 2021. While that may look like a disappointing number on paper, the box office was still struggling massively in the closing months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Regardless, with a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score, it remains one of Marvel Studios' best-reviewed Phase 4 titles and put Simu Liu on the map. Unfortunately, the character has been sidelined ever since and it's now been close to three years since we last saw Shang-Chi on our screens.
Destin Daniel Cretton is expected to helm a sequel - rumoured to be titled Shang-Chi and the Wreckage of Time - after moving on from Avengers 5. However, he's currently busy working on Disney+'s Wonder Man series, leaving us to wonder just how much of a priority the Shang-Chi follow-up is.

Fans still couldn’t get over the terrible climax episode, My Struggle IV, of the eleventh and final season of The X-Files. While the show was a pop culture phenomenon, the show’s quality descended throughout the final seasons. However, the nail in the coffin was the controversial final episode where Dana Scully and Fox Mulder realized that William was not their child but an experiment. Further to make matters worse, Scully reveals that she is pregnant.

However, he has finally confirmed the fan theories during the 30th anniversary celebrations of the show.

Marvel has plenty of projects bound to be released in the next few years, and we know that most of these projects have been stuck in a sort of limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the whole industry as a whole, causing plenty of projects to be both delayed or altogether canceled.
One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an McU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today.
‘Blade’ had hellish production so far, and it was delayed who knows how many times. The most recent rumors indicate that the movie will be delayed once again. This time from November 7, 2025 release to unspecified 2026 release.

Marvel has a bunch of upcoming projects, and many of them got caught in the mess of the big industry strike. This strike caused delays or even cancellations for lots of projects.
One of the highly anticipated Marvel movies, ‘Blade,’ was already facing issues even before the strikes. It’s a reboot of the famous ‘Blade’ trilogy, focusing on Eric Brooks, a well-known vampire hunter from the comics.
‘Blade’ has faced a rocky production journey with numerous delays. The latest rumors suggest that the film will be postponed yet again, shifting its release date from November 7, 2025, to an unspecified date in 2026.
My personal ranking for MCU 2025:

Two crew members were hospitalized and several more were injured in an accident on the set of the Amazon MGM Studios film “The Pickup” starring Eddie Murphy that’s filming near Atlanta.
According to the Associated Press, a car and a truck collided during filming on Saturday, April 20 when the truck seized up and struck the other vehicle. A source described the incident to the AP as a “freak accident” and said the sequence had been rehearsed with proper safety precautions in place.
Of the two hospitalized crew members, whose names have not been released, one remains hospitalized. The injuries included bumps, bruises, and broken bones, according to the AP, and all the injured crew members are expected to make full recoveries.

While Marvel fans await the sole theatrical release of the year i.e. Deadpool & Wolverine, one particular film sequel has been on the minds of fans since the original’s success three years ago. Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a huge hit upon release and earned over $432 million amidst the global pandemic.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton was previously attached to Avengers: Kang Dynasty before stepping down to concentrate on Shang-Chi 2. Despite there being no updates, actor Simu Liu recently mentioned that the sequel was definitely in the works.

One of the upcoming projects in the MCU that fans were often buzzing about was ‘Wonder Man.’ ‘Wonder Man’ is a Hollywood satire featuring Williams as an actor-turned-superhero in Tinseltown.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star as Simon Williams alongside Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Grosse, and Ed Harris. Just recently, before the historic SAG-AFTRA project was over, ‘Wonder Man’ was heavily rumored to be canceled, which at the time made sense considering that the show spent a lot of time in development hell, with little to no news regarding it.
‘Wonder Man’ filming started in January 2024, the production was reportedly delayed due to the strikes, which isn’t as surprising considering that plenty of other anticipated projects were severely delayed or are in the middle of reworks now that the strikes have ended. Just a few days into filming the project, sadly one of the set workers lost his life in a tragic accident.
