Netflix seems to have checked the audience’s pulse for what the genre of the year is and is coming out with a medical drama to compete with Grey’s Anatomy and The Pitt. The streaming platform’s first foray into the genre will be the drama Pulse, which is set to premiere on April 3, 2025, and will see an emergency crew deal with hurricane victims.
The series comes on the heels of Max’s The Pitt, which has been garnering rave reviews so far. The cast of Netflix’s show seems to include former alumni from the streaming platform and some new faces. While Willa Fitzgerald headlines the series as the recently promoted chief resident, several others round out the cast. Here is the cast of Pulse.

Are you a fan of Grey's Anatomy and are looking for something new to obsess over? If so, you'll be glad to know that Netflix is set to release its own medical drama that looks to be just as addictive. In fact, the show is already being referred to as the streaming service's take on Grey’s Anatomy. That's a pretty big claim, but early buzz suggests it might just live up to the hype.
The show is called Pulse, and it's the streamer's first-ever English-language medical series. That being said, there's a significant amount of anticipation surrounding its release, and people are eager to see if it can capture the same magic that made Grey's Anatomy a global phenomenon. I guess we'll have to wait until it releases to see if Pulse can live up to the comparisons, but this is definitely not a show you want to miss!

Apple’s video streaming business is still firmly in the red, according to a new report.
The Apple TV+ premium subscription service is losing more than $1 billion per year, according to an anonymously sourced report by The Information published Thursday. The tech giant is spending around $4.5 billion on content annually, down from $5 billion in past years, according to the article. Apple TV+ — which features virtually an all-original lineup — has about 45 million subscribers, per the report.
Reps for Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
Of course, $1 billion in annual losses are practically a rounding error for Apple in the context of its overall business, which is mostly fueled by iPhone sales. Apple generated $391 billion in revenue and posted a net profit of $93.7 billion for its fiscal year ended in September 2024.

Streaming is hard, and for most companies that aren’t Netflix, launching your own SVOD streaming service is a difficult way of earning a profit. So it should be no surprise that Apple TV+ isn’t among the profitable streamers either.
A report in The Information on Thursday said that Apple TV+ loses $1 billion on streaming annually, and it’s doing that despite 45 million subscribers. Those are two numbers that, despite launching in 2019, have never been released publicly by Apple. That’s because Apple TV+ is housed within Apple Services, a division of Apple that also includes Apple Music, Apple Fitness, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, Apple Books, and iCloud.
Per the company’s most recent earnings, the three months ending in January saw Apple bring in $124.3 billion in revenue, $26.3 billion of which came from Services, a record for the division. That’s just for one quarter. For the year, Services brought in more than $96 billion.

It took me a second viewing to appreciate what Margaret Qualley was up to in "The Substance". Great work!
Reckless sex workers, repressed CEOs, witches-in-training, and a triple helping of “Elizabeths” (!?!) factor into the incredible characterizations offered up by gifted actresses in leading roles this past film season. As we say goodbye to the year in cinema just behind us, a tribute to my personal dozen favourites (alpha order) from leading ladies. Though it’s a full dozen I still had to leave out highly enjoyable star turns from June Squibb in Thelma and Scarlett Johansson in Fly Me to the Moon, as well as Amy Adams' funny and underappreciated juggling of dowdy and feral as “Mother” in Nightbitch. The actual shortlist for my own Best Lead Actress honors is revealed at the end.

If you ever wanted to watch a show where the lead character is a suave, brooding, impossibly well-dressed advertising executive who just can’t stop self-sabotaging, Mad Men was your dream come true. But what if that same character, known for juggling mistresses like an overworked circus performer, suddenly decided to be… faithful? That, dear reader, is exactly what happened in season five, and let’s just say fans were not ready.

Don Draper, played by the effortlessly cool Jon Hamm, built his entire brand on forbidden glances, office affairs, and emotionally charged existential crises. But when he tied the knot with Megan, a bright and ambitious young woman who actually loved him, things took a turn. Not a turn toward happiness, mind you, this is Mad Men, after all, but a turn toward something fans apparently found even worse,...

Social media may be important in today’s entertainment world, as Maya Hawke recently lamented regarding dynamics between follower counts and the casting process, but it seems that even a cemented veteran, Scarlett Johansson, is not immune to pressures related to the digital sphere.
In a recent cover story for InStyle, the MCU alumna shared that she is often asked by film studios or her team to join Instagram to promote her projects.
“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?’ get a lot of pressure to join social media,” she explained, adding, “‘Is there a way I could do this and stay true to who I am?’ It didn’t feel like I could.”

Although Scarlett Johansson achieved household fame and success through her work over the years, nothing brings the same joy as having a successful parenthood. On one hand, the actress was giving Marvel blockbusters; on the other, she still lives a very private family life.
Her personal life has gone through some challenges over the years, as the actress has had two divorces in the past. Johansson learned about splitting responsibility between co-parents and adapting to present-day family systems. Her two kids – daughter Rose and son Cosmo, represent separate stages that brought different experiences and challenges into her personal life.

Scarlett Johnsson recounted the events leading up to Saturday Night Live's "Costco roast beef" joke. She was given a heads up that husband Colin Jost would be "compelled" to read something vulgar, but she had no idea it would be that gross.
Michael Che pulled a fast one on Colin Jost at a recent Saturday Night Live episode. As co-anchors of Weekend Update, some of their best bits had them reading jokes they've never seen before. Scarlett Johansson was told her husband Jost would at one point read a "vagina joke" (that Che wrote), but she only knew how far it would go when that roast beef photo showed up. "It was so vulgar," she told InStyle. "I just can't believe that they went there. I was like—it was so gross. It was really gross. And, like, old-school gross." She said she also had no idea what that camera ambush was for,...

At least one member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s original Avengers lineup won’t be coming back anytime soon — not if Scarlett Johansson has anything to say about it.
In an interview with InStyle published Tuesday, Johansson insisted that Marvel fans need to let go of Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a Black Widow, the MCU hero she played onscreen for 11 years. Natasha famously sacrificed her life in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.” While Johansson subsequently reprised the role in 2021’s “Black Widow,” a prequel set years before “Endgame,” she has no plans of undoing her character’s tragic, heroic death.
“Natasha is dead. She is dead. She’s dead. Ok?” Johansson exasperatedly told InStyle, noting that Marvel fans remain convinced that she is going to return to the MCU at some point. “They just don’t want to believe it. They’re like, ‘But she could come back!’”

Over the course of the past three decades, Scarlett Johansson has shown her excellent acting chops across numerous genres and uniquely sculpted roles to the point where no one could have done it better. And yet, hardly any of them have left as tremendous an impact on audiences worldwide as that of Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For one, it was Johansson’s performance only that established the character as one of the most fan-favorite characters in the eyes of many. But her character was chosen to be killed off in Avengers: Endgame, which served as an epic conclusive arc but has fans yearning to see her return nonetheless. However, Johansson has the most ruthless response to fans wanting her to return.

Hollywood’s top actors are making more money than ever according to Forbes’ analysis, thanks to big movie deals, streaming partnerships, and their ability to promote their own work. While blockbuster hits still matter, stars who can turn their fans into paying customers are earning the highest paychecks.
Dwayne Johnson takes the top spot with $88 million in earnings. His massive paycheck came from his role in Red One, a deal that reportedly earned him $50 million, making it the biggest single-movie payday ever. He also benefited from the success of Moana 2, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

Should we be freaking the freak out over who might be under the Coral mask on “The Masked Singer?” This week, Robin Thicke thinks maybe so.
In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek at Wednesday night’s episode, Thicke guesses that it may just be former Nickelodeon and current “Suits LA” star Victoria Justice performing as Coral, recalling how he first met her at The Preakness Stakes.
“I met this lovely actress, and she can sing,” he recalled. “I think the high school ring might mean because she plays a high schooler on the show ‘Victorious,’ could this be Victoria Justice?”
You can watch “The Masked Singer” clip below:
Thicke’s fellow panelists seem to be on board with the guess, with Rita Ora even saying point blank “I love that!” Whether or not he is actually correct, well, we will just have to wait and see.

These seven movies prove Apple TV+ is making a serious play for your movie nights.
I find myself on Apple TV+ a lot these days, and while most people think of the streamer for its high-quality TV shows, it’s actually been making a serious play for your movie nights, too. Apple TV+ has been stacking its lineup with a mix of big-name projects and under-the-radar films that are actually pretty good - including the recent action-comedy “Wolfs,” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The selection isn’t as deep as some other streamers, but what’s there is worth a watch. If you’re looking for something new to check out, here are the top 7 movies streaming on Apple TV+ right now.

It might come as a surprise that Netflix has never had its own English-language medical drama. Not that those shows are easier to make than any other genre, but there sure have been enough of them on television over the last several decades that Netflix might have made making one a priority. They didn't, but they are now.
Given a network-level budget, Pulse, starring Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell, will debut on Thursday, April 3. There will be a first-time creator, Zoe Robyn, in charge with the help of veteran showrunner, Carlton Cuse. Cuse might be best known for his work on the iconic series Lost.
The plot line involves a hospital in Miami that is beginning to deal with the effects of a hurricane hitting the area. The issue is that there is drama among the doctors. Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips, played by Woodell, has been suspended, and third-year resident Dr.

Remember when Natasha Romanoff sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone and made entire theatres cry? It was the end of an era, especially for those who have been loving the badass Avenger since her first appearance in Iron Man 2. Even though Scarlett Johansson “returned” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Black Widow, it was melancholic for her fans to watch knowing that the film was set before the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Scarlett Johansson sure played the hell out of Natasha all these years, so much so that it is impossible for us to imagine another actress in her shoes. However, her career outside of the MCU is equally impressive, if not more. Her upcoming Wes Anderson project proves that the actress has juicy roles all lined up and ready to go!

Actress, singer, songwriter, and rapper Janelle Monáe can now add “Michael Jackson impersonator” to her résumé.
The 10-time Grammy nominee brought down the house with her cover of M.J.’s “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough,” complete with a moonwalk, during the ceremony’s Quincy Jones tribute on Sunday night. There are an assortment of reasons leading up to a film's release that make it obvious to audiences it's destined to fail at the box office. Many of the biggest box office flops in the previous year were from celebrated directors and featured a stacked cast full of beloved actors, and yet, it wasn't much of a surprise to see their box office numbers were less than ideal. Many of the other box office failures that were no surprise were surrounded by discouraging conversations detailing messy productions and constantly delayed release dates. Early reviews of such films were also mostly negative and were a telltale...

Romantic comedy movies are a tough subgenre to nail down these days in terms of quality storytelling, but Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum's space-centric 2024 movie, Fly Me to the Moon, deserves a look from rom-com fans. Coincidentally, Johansson's notable release the year prior also involved elements of space. The actress was part of Wes Anderson's ensemble cast for Asteroid City, an offbeat dramedy that focused on a group attending a convention in the desert get quarantined after an alien visit. She also voiced Elita-1 in 2024's Transformers One, which reunited her with fellow MCU actor Chris Hemsworth.
Technically, Johansson's Fly Me to the Moon co-star Channing Tatum is also an MCU actor now after his cameo appearance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine. While that was surely a career highlight for Tatum, especially since he'd been linked to the role for a decade, 2024 also saw the actor star and produce Blink Twice,...
