Hamori died Sept. 2 in Budapest after a long illness that prevented him from working in recent years, his friend Mia Taylor announced.
Hamori, who worked out of Toronto early in his career and was a partner in Alliance Entertainment, also guided the cult horror classic The Gate (1987), starring Stephen Dorff in his first major role; Stephen Frears’ Chéri (2009), starring Michelle Pfeiffer; and the 2014 History Channel miniseries Houdini, starring Adrien Brody.
The Sweet Hereafter (1997), which earned Egoyan Oscar nominations for best director and adapted screenplay, revolved around a school bus accident in a Canadian town that killed 14 children.

“Thank God for each and every one of you,” MGM Motion Picture Group chairman Michael De Luca told theater owners and managers in the crowd at CinemaCon on Tuesday. “There is no industry without all of you. There is no Hollywood without all of you.”
Today’s kickoff to the MGM reel presentation repped the studio’s return to CinemaCon after a 20-year absence.
“Every filmmaker has a movie theater waiting at the end of their dream, and you’ve all made that happen,” added the MGM chief.

In the run-up to Avengers: Infinity War, we’ve heard a lot of talk that it and its currently-untitled sequel, Avengers 4, will act as a grand finale to the McU as we know it – a culmination of everything the franchise has been building up to over the nearly twenty films that have been released this past decade. Now that it’s finally here, the newly released trailer for the pic makes this very clear by calling back to the McU’s past in a major way.
The opening of the Infinity War trailer features the cast reciting a familiar speech for longtime Marvel fans: Nick Fury’s talk about the purpose of the Avenger Initiative back in The Avengers.
“There was an idea…” recalls Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, in what we’re not sure is a repeat of the original quote or a new recording.

Often, what you see on a screen when it comes to Hollywood blockbusters is not at all what the initial footage looked like. Whether it’s CGI, practical effects, models, costumes, make-up or any of the other numerous tactics employed to create movie magic, the finished product is almost always enhanced in some manner, especially when it comes to big budget films.
Thankfully, nearly every major blockbuster has its production recorded and documented by photographers and over the years, some truly incredible, exciting and often hilarious behind the scenes photos have made their way online. And so, on that note, join us today as we settle into another edition of our weekly column, where we’ll be exploring Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Despite the tremendous amount of love fans have for Nick Fury, and the actor who plays him (Samuel L. Jackson), the character hasn’t been featured too heavily in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as of late. Though he was instrumental in putting the Avengers together, his role has been diminished quite a bit and he hasn’t been seen on screen since Age of Ultron. It looks like things will stay that way, too, as the actor isn’t signed on for any future Marvel movies just yet. Or is he?

Last month, Samuel L. Jackson revealed in an interview that his iconic Nick Fury character won't be back for Avengers: Infinity War, which recently wrapped production, nor Avengers 4, which is shooting now, since Marvel hasn't called and asked him back yet. It seems that may not be true, though, at least for Avengers 4, since a new casting call has surfaced, stating flat out that Samuel L. Jackson will in fact star in this game changing sequel. Not only that, but one of the roles this casting call is seeking seems to be a photo double for Samuel L. Jackson. Many believe that this will serve as Fury's adios for the McU.
The news comes from Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which reveals Samuel L. Jackson is starring in the movie, alongside previously-confirmed stars Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Josh Brolin. These actors will be needed for a shoot in either Atlanta or Fayetteville,...

‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ is pretty much bringing every major character that Marvel has ever set up. One person who definitely won’t return will be Samuel L. Jackson, who has confirmed that he will not appear in ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ or the yet to be titled ‘Avengers 4‘. Although we haven’t see Jackson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ (Excluding his small cameo in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘), It makes sense that we haven’t see Fury for some time.
Well, Jackson doesn’t seem too keen on this idea. In a recent interview with Yahoo!, Jackson shared this thoughts on Fury’s lack of inclusion in recent movies.
“I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [Captain America: Civil War], I’m not in Avengers 3 and 4. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet. They wouldn’t let me go to Black Panther-ville, so...

Paul Bettany's Vision character will be back for Avengers 4 while Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury will be sitting this one out. In addition, it appears that Nick Fury will not show in Avengers: Infinity War as well. The news comes after it was announced that filming had started for Avengers 4 last week through a social media post by directors, the Russo Brothers. The production started just over a month after filming wrapped for Infinity War, which was the plan all along, but there has been a lot of speculation about who will make it to Avengers 4 to battle Thanos.
Paul Bettany recently sat down with Collider to promote his new series for Discovery called Manhunt: Unabomber. It is unclear at this time just who will survive Infinity War, but Bettany may have just unintentionally let a secret out. The British actor implied that he was involved in the 4th movie.

Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury has been part of the McU since its very beginnings, leading S.H.I.E.L.D. and spearheading the Avengers Initiative. Jackson appeared as Fury in almost every McU movie between 2008’s “Iron Man” up to 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Then, he disappeared. There have been six additional McU movies since then and he’s appeared in none of them. Where is Nick Fury?

Nick Fury is an incredibly important character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — or rather, he was an incredibly important character. Following the closing credits of the original Iron Man back in 2008, we were introduced to the character, and he brought with him the promise of The Avengers, which eventually came to fruition in 2012. However, following his extended role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Fury’s been almost nowhere to be seen. He had a cameo in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but apart from that, he seems to have all but disappeared.

It was officially announced at Comic-Con this year summer that Nick Fury would play a major role in Captain Marvel. There's an interesting important detail that has come to light, though, recently. That is that Samuel L. Jackson has not signed onto the film to reprise his role. No one at Marvel Studios has talked to him about it. During a recent interview with Yahoo! the actor said:
"I haven't signed a contract, haven't seen a script. I talked to Brie [Larson] the other day, she didn't say anything. She's the only person I know that's actually in the movie."
You would think that someone would have talked to Jackson about reprising his role before they made a big "Nick Fury" announcement at Comic-Con... unless they don't plan on bringing Jackson back to reprise his role.
As far as I know, it's only been confirmed that Nick Fury would be in the film.

Samuel L. Jackson has done it all. He has been in almost every major franchise that exists. Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Avengers are all just a few of the major properties that he has been involved with in his career. And that's just the movie properties with tie-in Lego sets! As you know, he was a key element in bringing the Avengers together and building the McU, however it sounds like he won't be there for their greatest battle.
Recently in an interview with Yahoo Movies UK, Jackson confirmed that he would not be in Avengers: Infinity War or the untitled Avengers 4. This is strange. He made the Avengers the Avengers in the first place. But if you have keen eyes, you'll notice he's been laying low for awhile now. He hasn't appeared in Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Civil War, and it's doubtful he'll appear in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok either.

It’s taken an awful long time – too long, perhaps – for Marvel to begin development on its first live-action, female-led superhero movie, but that prolonged wait has been brought to an end thanks to the upcoming Captain Marvel spinoff.
Headed up by the Oscar-winning Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island, Room), the Carol Danvers origin story made a big splash at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks back, where it was revealed that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s standalone pic will take place in the 1990s, and it’ll feature Samuel L. The Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con revealed a whole heap of tantalizing details about Captain Marvel, the upcoming movie starring Brie Larson that will be the McU’s first female-led film.
First up, we now know that the pic will not be a contemporary piece but will be set in the 1990s. This isn’t the first time that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken a trip to the past, of course. Captain America: The First Avenger was set in World War II and Ant-Man established that Hank Pym had been superhero’ing since the 1960s.
In fact, fans will remember that back in 2008’s Iron Man, Nick Fury told Tony Stark that he wasn’t the only superhero around. Slowly but surely, we’re now finding out who those heroes were that existed before him.

During Marvel’s Comic-Con panel, the studio dropped some interesting reveals for Brie Larson’s upcoming Captain Marvel movie. Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury made his last McU appearance in 2015’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron, so you can hardly blame the guy for wondering when he’ll be brought back into the fold, which is what he recently did in an interview with We Got This Covered. Jackson, who’s played the leader of the now defunct S.H.I.E.L.D. since 2008 (post-credits scenes count), said he’d reprise the role for more Marvel outings, like say, the Black Panther movie, or maybe a solo Fury feature. And while there’s still no word on those projects, Jackson has been confirmed as one of the combatants of the Russo brothers’ Avengers: Infinity War.
But, we have to ask ourselves, is this really enough Samuel L. Jackson, or Nick Fury? The answer is no, obviously—remember how he came through in Sokovia?—so it’s ...

Today we have news that one of old guard of the Avengers collective looks likely to join her – Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury.
Deadline appear to confirm the rumours which have been filling the nooks and crannies of the internet’s rumour mill for some time. It’s a fine time to reintroduce one of the most recognisable faces in the long-running film series. Good afternoon, true believers! It's time to take your long, black trench to the cleaners and adjust your favorite eye-patch, because we just got word that Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury will be joining the character cast of Marvel's Captain Marvel! If you recall, the last time we checked in with Fury, he was still pretty banged up in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, after being in a car accident,... Read More...

Despite the tremendous amount of love fans have for Nick Fury, and the actor who plays him (Samuel L. Jackson), the character hasn’t been featured too heavily in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as of late. And that’s definitely a shame.
Though he was instrumental in putting the Avengers together, his role has been diminished quite a bit and he hasn’t been seen on screen since Age of Ultron. We do know, however, that he’ll be involved in Infinity War and its currently untitled sequel and now, it sounds like he may be sticking around beyond that as well.
Though Jackson’s contract will expire after those aforementioned films, it seems like the actor isn’t ready to leave the McU just yet, as we’re learning today that he’ll have a role to play in Captain Marvel. We first reported on this several months ago,...

There have been some rumblings over the past week about Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) appearing in the Captain Marvel movie, and that now seems to be confirmed. Fury is the connective force in the McU, and so it makes sense for him to be present at the launch of Captain Marvel. Deadline is confirming the rumor first reported by Omega Underground, but the latest language that he will "make an appearance" suggests that it might be a minor role or even a cameo. Initial rumors used the term "co-star" to describe Jackson's potential role, but that may …...

Happy 4th of July everyone! In the spirit of the holiday, we've learned some news that should make us all proud to be Americans: Sam Jackson is rumored to be back, returning as Nick Fury in the highly-anticipated Captain Marvel film, starring Brie Larson. Bad news is, we have to wait until 2019 for this movie to premiere.
While there have been rumors of Jackson's presence on the set of Avengers: Infinity War, all indications are that this is just a minor cameo role. However, given the nature of the Infinity Stones (time, space, mind, reality, power), Fury's appearance could be a flashback, a false future, or just an illusion (or all three). Marvel has been coy about Fury's existence in this movie.

It looks like Brie Larson's Carol Danvers will be joined by another character from the McU in Captain Marvel. I think many of us figured that would be the case. It's fun seeing other characters from the McU crossover into different films. If you don't want to know who this character is, don't read any further.
According to Christopher M. of Omega Underground and IGN, Samuel L. Jackson will “co-star” with Larson in Captain Marvel. Obviously, he'll be reprising his role as Nick Fury. Here's the tweet that was send out announcing the news:
Looks like @SamuelLJackson will indeed be co-starring with @brielarson in #CaptainMarvel. Expected to begin shooting on January 8th in Atl. pic.twitter.com/SQyLdYZGDS

Until Marvel Studios confirms this, treat this as a rumor. However, it's a rumor that isn't really that far-fetched. It would be nice to see Fury back in action!

The big draw for Spider-Man: Homecoming is that it’s the first solo Spidey movie to see Peter Parker exist in a world with other Marvel heroes. The best way of demonstrating that is to feature arguably the McU’s most popular character, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, in a prominent role as Spider-Man’s superhero mentor. It seems like the sort of key idea that would have always been there, especially as Tony and Peter’s relationship was set up in Captain America: Civil War. As it turns out, though, a different McU hero was originally set to star in Iron Man’s place.
Speaking to Io9, Homecoming director Jon Watts revealed that Nick Fury was his first pick for Peter’s mentor in the movie. The site notes that while Tony was the “obvious choice,” Watts told them that he had “created images of Fury as Spidey...

Newly minted blockbuster superstar Gal Gadot was hardly a household name when she was picked to play Wonder Woman in DC’s Extended Universe, including turns in “Batman v Superman” and “Justice League” and a starring role in the studio’s newest smash hit, “Wonder Woman.” Best known to action-loving audiences for her supporting roles in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, the former Israeli soldier is now a bonafide breakout, thanks to her work in the long-awaited and instantly beloved superhero film. Fortunately, she’s not the only actress who made the jump from rising star to tentpole leading lady.

Although we haven’t been seeing as much of Nick Fury as of late on the big screen, it’s undeniable that Samuel L. Jackson can largely be credited for allowing the character to attain the mainstream prominence he’s been enjoying for the past nine years.
It’s certainly no secret that Marvel comics have taken cues from their cinematic counterparts in recent memory, one of which was introducing a Fury that was more Jackson-like into Marvel continuity proper, although he technically has “Junior” on the end of his name. Still, you have to get a kick out of how things came full circle given that Jackson’s onscreen take was informed by the Nick Fury from the Ultimate universe, which was actually modelled after the veteran actor himself. Though Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. has had a good run on ABC, there has always been talk of Samuel L. Jackson getting his own stand-alone Nick Fury movie. But guess what? The actor doesn't seem so interested in that. And he has a better idea. He wants to co-star in John Wick 3.
Samuel L. Jackson hasn't ever really held the same kind of 'franchise viagra' mantra that fueled Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's path to superstardom, but he has appeared in his fare share of sequels, outside of the Marvel universe. After becoming a true household name with his appearance in Pulp Fiction, Jackson immediately took on a key role in Die Hard 3. He also brought quite a bit of gravitas to the Star Wars prequels as Mace Windu. And he's a permanent fixture in the xXx movies. Now, he wants in on John Wick's territory.

When we last saw Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, he was providing some much-needed assistance to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Conspicuous by his absence in Captain America: Civil War, the hero looks set to make his presence felt in Avengers: Infinity War, but will he be joined by a fan-favourite villain?
During a recent interview to promote the release of Kong: Skull Island, Jackson reiterated the fact that he won’t be making an appearance in Black Panther, but when he alluded to what the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director has been up to since we last saw him, he revealed:

Samuel L. Jackson is a very busy actor, having starred in over 20 movies in the past five years. However, one movie he won’t be appearing in is Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther film…and he’s not happy about that!

The Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman—who was a scene stealer in Captain America: Civil War—will feature an impressive cast including Michael B. One name that’s not included on this list is Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the McU. Having expected to be included, Jackson voiced his disappointment about being left out while talking to Sirius Xm to promote his newest film Kong: Skull Island.

We Got This Covered recently had the chance to sit down with Samuel L. Jackson to discuss Kong: Skull Island, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe inevitably came up. We already know that Nick Fury will return in Avengers: Infinity War after sitting out Captain America: Civil War, but what lies beyond that for the fan-favourite former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director? Unsurprsingly, Jackson is still keen on a solo outing for Fury, but he seemed to heavily imply that the hero will make his presence felt in Captain Marvel a few years from now. He also explained why Fury won't be hanging out with T'Challa in Wakanda next year. "Yeah, I’d love to do a Nick Fury movie. I’m always open and game. But they got Infinity Wars, two movies to do there, and after that there’s Brie [Larson’s] movie Captain Marvel, which maybe [Nick] will be part of.

If you cast your mind way back to 2008’s Iron Man, you’ll remember that it was Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury who properly kicked off what’s now become known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealing to Tony Stark his plans for the Avengers initiative. It was a post-credits scene that may not have meant a whole lot to the average moviegoer at the time, but one that’s now spawned what’s become perhaps the biggest franchise in cinema.
Unfortunately, the last time we saw Jackson’s fan-favorite character was quite a while ago. Back in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, in fact. He’s still around though, and with a role in Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War to look forward to, we should be seeing a lot more of him in the near future. But what about the studio’s plans for the character beyond that?...

While the original Nick Fury is now known as “the Unseen” and forced to take on the role once held by The Watcher, his son remains a big part of the Marvel Universe. It just so happens that he bears a striking resemblance to the version played on the big screen by Samuel L. Jackson, and the character is now getting a series of his own later this year.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series is still trucking on, and just kicked off its fourth season last week – but when it comes to the former government agency’s presence in the movie universe, we haven’t seen them in action since Steve Rogers decreed that they were to be taken down along with Hydra towards the climax of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Of course, Nick Fury has dropped in to offer Earth’s Mightiest Heroes some guidance since then, but what are the chances of the former director breaking out the leather jacket and side-pistol and leading his former comrades into battle again? According to Samuel L. Jackson, the chances are very good.
During a recent interview with Coming Soon, the always forthcoming actor was asked if he thought there was still a place for S.H.I.E.L.D. within the McU, and responded very positively:
Yeah!

Just about everyone and their mother had the privilege of showing up in the recent Marvel flick, Captain America: Civil War. With around twelve superheroes running around, the film had more Avengers in it than both Avengers movies. However, that doesn't mean some characters didn't make it into the feature. Of course, both Thor and Hulk were noticeably absent, but so was former Shield director Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson.
With these characters becoming increasingly intertwined in each other's story, it's always a big question of where a specific character is in any given film. We know that Thor and Hulk are probably off in space somewhere, so what about Nick Fury?
"I'm curious too!" Civil War screenwriter Stephen McFeely joked to the La Times.

Now that Captain America: Civil War is out in the wild, pulling in a strong international haul at the box office in the process, screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have continued to dissect the intricate layers of Marvel’s grand juggernaut.

Asked last month who's side Nick Fury would be on in Captain America: Civil War, Samuel L. Jackson almost seemed offended by the question. In fact, he refused to answer, saying that kind of internal conflict was 'above' the character. And as it turns out, the actor's gut reaction was right. Nick Fury had no dog in this fight between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. And that's the main reason we didn't see him show up, even for a second, in this blockbuster sequel.
Nick Fury joins Hulk and Thor as the trifecta not invited to play in the big Civil War sandbox, which unites and then tears apart every other Marvel character introduced thus far. With news that a Black Widow movie may finally be moving, we look at 11 Marvel films stuck in development...
When the next Avengers movie hits cinemas, it will have been ten years since Marvel Studios came onto the scene since Iron Man. At the time of writing, they've already released 13 movies and so far (touch wood), there hasn't really been a single clunker among them, and certainly no box office bombs.
The studio also has dates staked out for the next 11 movies, including sequels to Thor, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Ant-Man, along with films based around Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel, in the run-up to a two part Avengers movie that will tie off a lot of the franchise's over-arcing storyline. They've got plenty to be getting on with, but there have been a few projects along the way that didn't quite get the green light.
