- Following an extended tour of duty in the Middle East, a veteran Jacob Nicks (Russ Russo) returns home only to face new enemy. Battling insomnia & Undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder, he finds a job as a projectionist working the night shift at a decrepit theater. As he struggles to adapt to civilian life, he quickly finds himself tangled in an inescapable web of seduction, addiction, & violence. Frank, the theatre boss, has hired Nicks as Nicks does not fall asleep at all. It is clear that Nicks has PTSD and is still haunted by his memories from his time in the military. He keeps a gun and an army hunting knife in his home drawer. He occasionally gets a call from his mother but refuses to meet her or his brother. He has his meals at a local diner, sitting all by himself.
Marlon (Doug E. Doug) is his drug supplier & he regularly sleeps with a prostitute named Ivana (Natasha Alam). He wants to have a relationship with Ivana (and wants to take her out for a date), but she doesn't see him anything more than a client. Nicks narrates his story to Ivana. Basically, he was captured by the enemy, who tortured and killed Nicks's friend Pvt Locklear (Kiowa Gordon) (who was only 18 or 19 years old), because Nicks wouldn't divulge military secrets (like the location of an rangers' platoon hiding in the mountains) to the enemy. Nicks says that he could not jeopardize 30 lives for just the 2 of them. Nicks blames himself for the death of his friend, who was chopped up one tiny piece at a time.
Sully (Robert Miano) is an old man who own a video store & develops films for Nicks. Sully is the only true friend Nicks has, & Sully treats Nicks as his own son. Nicks makes a sex tape of him having sex with Ivana (he sets up a camera in his room and starts the recording just before Ivana walks in) & gives him to Sully to develop. Nicks tells Sully that the tape is personal and asks him not to watch. Sully watches the tape regardless & that angers Nicks. Nicks watches the tape at home with him drilling into Ivana, who lies completely still on the sofa.
Nicks befriends a homeless man named Balling at the diner. Balling says that 100 million Americans have had marijuana at least once, and 25 million Americans lit up a joint in the last 1 year. Nicks confides in Balling that someone has been watching him. Balling puts on his glasses and confirms that he can also see the man stalking Nicks.
Then Ivana finds that Nicks is secretly taping her having sex with him. She finds the carefully hidden camera in Nicks' room by the sound of the film rolling. This time Nicks was trying different sexual positions to make sure that Ivana was not lying still on her back and had to do some action. She storms off, but not before insulting Nicks about his cowardice, which led to Nicks's friends' death. Ivana says that Nicks intentionally did not save his friend, so he could save himself. Nicks is angry & the next time Ivana brings a client to his projection theater; he projects her sex tape. The theater boss Frank (Joseph R. Gannascoli) fires Nicks as he has lost many customers due to Nicks's stunt that night.
His disdain for those around him reaches a boiling point and he embarks on a new war against society, vowing to take drastic action against it in an attempt to defend the country he loves. Nicks finally flips & decides to turn vigilante, to rid of the world of the scum. He first kills the theatre boss, who fired him, and was needlessly mean to him. The he murders Marlon, the drug dealer. He then kidnaps & murders Ivana.
A man (Kevin Interdonato) had been stalking Nicks, for reasons unknown. He witnesses Nicks commit all these murders, so finally Nicks corners him & pushes him off the top of a building. He then finds that his stalker had the picture of the man's family. Nick shoots himself in the head.
As the investigation unfolds Lt. Sullivan (Chris LaPanta), calls Det. Nicks (Dominik Tiefenthaler), who is Nicks brother, into his office. Sullivan explains that Nicks left a video in which he claimed killing 4 people before he killed himself, & also said where he had left the bodies. But there were no bodies. Sullivan explains that Nicks never worked at a theatre, never met Marlon or Ivana. & the stalker's picture, was basically the picture of his father, standing with his 2 young sons.
Det. Nicks says that his brother was a PoW for 8 months & never told the enemy anything. Sullivan promises Det. Nicks that he would help him bury the case.
