Shortly after completing the shoot of Tumhari Sulu, Neha Dhupia, who plays Maria, Sulu’s radio boss, invited her co-star and new friend, Vidya Balan on her much – discussed celebrity show, “No Filter Neha”.
The conversation between the two was as fun, no-holds barred and uncensored as it could get.
When asked if a “shaadi” had any “side effects”, Vidya said, “I don’t think I’ve experienced any. My name did not change. I didn’t let it. My address changed, for the better. I’d never lived with anyone before so I wondered how it would be to share the same space, but we’re quite alike, so it’s fun.”
Years back, when Vidya had No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture and Kahaani, she was called a Khan. She laughed, “At a press conference after The Dirty Picture Ekta (Kapoor) called me Vidya Balan Khan and that became a thing.

Though I couldn’t relate to her endless boozing and snoozing, Noor Roy Choudhary as played by Sonakshi Sinha , is someone I’ve known in passing. And that’s I would keep her if I met her. At a safe distance.
Noor is not one of the best films on journalistic ethics. It doesn’t do to the contemporary Mumbai media world what the Paul Newman-Sally Field starrer Absence Of Malice did 30 years ago. It pricks at the conscience in a rather undemanding way. Noor takes sly and slender satirical swipes at sensationalism in journalism, more...

In a recent interview, Vidya Balan, who in her career has shouldered multiple female-centric movies like Parineeta, Ishqiya, No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Bobby Jasoos and Kahaani 2, typically went the sensible way to state, unlike the hardcore feminist brigade of colleagues and media persons, that she had no objection to theRead More

Gender inequality is one issue where the sensitive nerve of the society lies. 'Sexism' not only curses the rural areas or few sections of Urban India but the ever-twinkling tinsel town as well! Just that ‘sexism’ in the industry rarely gets unveiled. It’s not the case with Vidya Balan anymore. Yes, the much-acclaimed star who is known to speak her heart-out, took off that veil of honor and revealed a few disheartening facts that are still prevalent in Bollywood. Vidya is known to be the protagonist in most of her films that include 'No one killed Jessica', 'Kahani', 'The Dirty picture' and now the upcoming one, 'Kahani 2'. During her interaction while promoting 'Kahani 2', she revealed how difficult it is to overcome ‘sexism’ in the film fraternity. Starting with the pay scale she remarked that on a ‘particular’ film she was paid less but...

Vidya Balan has done a lot of challenging roles in her 11 years of acting career. From playing a bespectacled young girl in TV sitcom Hum Paanch to Durga Rani Singh in Kahaani 2, the talented actress has surely come a long way and has set a brand for herself with the kind of films she has done. I am annoyed arrey script toh achchi honi chahiye - Kareena Kapoor Khan on walking out of Section 84
Kareena Kapoor Khan is annoyed, in fact super annoyed. Reason being that those unknown to her seem to know a lot more about the films that she is rejecting, the reasons behind that as well as the advice they are happy to give away freely about the career choices that she must be making. This, when they haven't gone through the scripts coming her way, the treatment a director has in mind to offer to a film, and the criteria that she has set for the movies that she wants to be a part of henceforth. No wonder, with the whole brouhaha around Section 84 and Kareena Kapoor Khan politely saying no to proceeding with the film, the lady is hardly left amused with her exit continuing to make news. "Arrey I don't understand why are people talking about it so much. They don't even know anything about the character.

With his magnum opus Bombay Velvet now entering the final stage, the director decided to take a breather and shift his attention towards short films. It is not new for the filmmaker to venture into this familiar zone but this time around, he has found a space to feature his film on an international platform. MTV International has approached Anurag Kashyap for an anthology based on theme of extra marital relationships. Anurag who has given his thumbs up for it, stated that it is a rare chance where he can explore creativity devoid of commercial pressures. He also further added that the film will star his favourite Radhika Apte and Satyadeep Mishra of No One Killed Jessica fame and he has already started shooting for it.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is enjoying her married life right now, has been taking her career at a comparatively slower pace. Though we only got rare glimpses of the actress in 2014, 2015 promises to be a better year for the actress, with three movies in the pipeline for release. Just a month ago, we had reported about Kareena Kapoor Khan being signed by No One Killed Jessica fame Raj Kumar Gupta for his upcoming film. Though he refrained from talking about the film then, now the filmmaker confirms that not only is the actress playing a protagonist in this thriller but she will be seen as a schizophrenia patient in the film. From what we hear, the dark and mysterious tale revolves around Kareena's character; who is caught up in trouble, when she is released from a mental asylum. Amidst this dangerous mental condition, situations are created where she gets trapped...

Bobby Jasoos has released and it is time for Vidya Balan to move on to her next. While on a personal front, she has gained good appreciation and acknowledgment for her Bobby act, Vidya is now stepping into a romantic zone after a hiatus with Hamari Adhuri Kahaani which is all set to go on floor. For Vidya, it is a different territory altogether as the last film with a strong romantic element was Ishqiya (2010) and that too had its own share of deceit, intrigue and suspense element to it. Ever since then she has experimented with the likes of No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Ghanchakkar, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Bobby Jasoos where she has basically played on her versatility. With Hamari Adhuri Kahaani, she gets into a romantic space after a hiatus. "Well yes, this is indeed an intense love story and as the title itself conveys,...

We are back with another look at what happened on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa! This week’s show opened with the international judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy dancing to the song ‘Criminal’ from Ra One. The audience really loved his performance, as it was the first time Maksim had danced solo on the show.
Host Ranvir, then tricked the contestants into a “pass the parcel” game, by throwing them a mirror ball and saying that whoever caught the ball, would go directly into the face-off. But judge Karan Johar used his “jhoothameter” and said that Ranvir was fooling around, the mirror ball would say who was safe from the eliminations.
This week’s theme was Made in India which meant the contestants would be performing on dance styles that originated from India.
Actor Ashish Sharma & his choreographer Shampa were the first to perform. They danced on the song ‘Har Kisi Ko Nahin Milta’ from the film Boss.

A central metaphorical symbol, a socio-political commentary, an independent rock band and a National award-winning director. These elements of Yeh Hai Bakrapur make for fantastic shades individually. Unfortunately, once weaved into the narrative design of cinema, the celluloid mosaic loses its aesthetic appeal and entertaining lustre.
A well-stroked hue of this silver screen sojourn lies in its cinematographer (Abinandhan Ramanujam) who awards a point of view to key moments in the motion picture. The first market scene that has sharp focus on the goat (the protagonist) while the human characters are out of focus, reiterates the sentiment of the title. Reversing the light-illuminating-darkness convention, Ramanujam hides his camera within the dingy, narrow folds of dark, narrow holes.
It seems irrational that while the audience unpacks the movie, it is left locating the absurd in logical character motivations and plot progression

Vidya Balan doesn’t like the “female hero” label as much as you might think.
“I understand where it’s coming from, but still there’s sexism,” she says while on an Iifa press tour with press materials that have touted her as that female hero.
“And I want to say something romantic — all females are heroes anyway.”
She’s earned a reputation for making women’s roles meatier than the typical heroine, a shift she says that is also happening in society as it and film mirror one another. But, she says, she’s just always “played roles of women who have been in control of their own lives.”
Such is the case in her upcoming movie Bobby Jasoos, releasing in June or July, in which she plays a female detective. “A female Sherlock Holmes,” she says, then corrects herself to say it’s a more simple human story than that.

For someone who delivered five back to back successes (Kahaani, The Dirty Picture, No One Killed Jessica, Ishqiya, Paa), one would have expected Vidya Balan to sign films by the dozens.
