For their 4th annual edition, the Minneapolis Underground Film Festival is pulling out all the stops, spotlighting great local and international filmmaking talent over the course of three days, Dec. 2-4, on two screens at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (McAd).
The fest opens with an ambitious Minneapolis-based move: Tyler Jensen’s 30 Films 30 Days. Working with hundreds of local participants, Jensen and his team completed a short film a day over the course of one month and this feature compiles all of them into one package. Plus, also screening on the same night is the groovy grindhouse horror flick The Disco Exorcist by Richard Griffin.
Over the course of the next two full days and nights, two of the best highlights of this year’s Muff include Usama Alshaibi‘s masterful mix of sex and religion Profane, Stuart Simpson‘s retro-sleazetastic monster flick El Monstro Del Mar!, neither of which are to be missed!

Indie film darlings Rachel Grubb and Brooke Lemke have a twisted new project planned, but this time they're taking it to the Internet.
Lemke and Grubb are producing a 12-episode webseries called Safe Word. Lemke will be directing this "dark and revealing taboo-laden story about a man with a secret, and the lengths he will go to come to terms with it." [Editor's note: This is just conjecture, but I'm willing to bet the secret has something to do with sex…at least, it better.] Written by Grubb, the project began life as a feature but morphed into a webseries along the way.
The ladies have a locked a pretty solid cast for Safe Word, including Grubb (Why Am I in a Box?), Ryan Kiser (the upcoming Potpourri), Anne Westcott (Third Party '08), Devanny Pinn (Piranha) and Scott McClure (The Joker Blogs).
The series will be produced under the aegis of Silent-But-Deadly Productions, Grubb and Lemke's Minneapolis-based production company. I know that Grubb made the big move to Los Angeles a while back,...

Drugs. Drugs are bad. Especially manufactured drugs. If it's not grown directly out of the Earth, you probably shouldn't be messing with it. However, if it's made in a lab and causes an undead epidemic, screw it, dude - toke up!
The new indie flick Potpourri is having its world premiere Thursday, October 6th, at the Riverview Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Starring Ryan Kiser, Mike Borka, Shannon McDonough, and Scarlet Salem, the flick is written and directed by Elliot Diviney, who has been making films since he was seven years old. Elliot brought his daring and ambitious script to producer/actor Brandon Van Vliet from Restraining Hollywood in November 2009, and together they set out to make something truly fun, daring and unique:

Sarah French aka Scarlet Salem burst onto the horror scene only four years ago diving in head first. She also models, she even hangs out at the conventions when she can and is a really grounded and cool girl, oh and really pretty; which you're fixing to find out! Check out what we talked about below, everything from her past and present projects and modeling , to the Comic Book Divas project we are involved in together, to her putting me in my place with my pretend alter ego Captain Awesome. Brian S- Hi Sarah, first off can you tell me where your alter-ego Scarlet Salem came from? You know I have one too, I'm Captain Awesome! Scarlet- Oh, cool! I think your friend, Lieutenant Lame has hit on me a few times, haha! My very first photographer told me I needed a ‘stage name’ so I could stand out and be on the safe side.
