After working their magic to bring Trick or Treat to 4K Ultra HD, Red Shirt Pictures and Synapse Films have announced six upcoming titles in the works.

The releases include: Fright Night Part II, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, Prom Night III: The Last Kiss, Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil, 976-Evil II, and Angel of H.E.A.T.

“There are no release dates for any of these titles at this time,” Synapse writes, noting that Fright Night Part II will not be out in 2025.

“We can’t even say ‘Still in production. No release date.’ because several of them have not started production yet! Just as it was with Trick or Treat, Red Shirt Pictures will be overseeing the production of each release, while Synapse will oversee the audio/video and distribution of each title, all of which will be in production throughout 2025 and into 2026.”

We found out last year that the 1986 rock ‘n roll horror film Trick or Treat, one of my all-time favorite movies, would be getting a Blu-ray and 4K Uhd release from Synapse Films. They were originally aiming for a Halloween 2023 release, but since they missed that month they ended up giving the movie a limited edition release last month. Those 6,666 units sold out so fast, with fans crashing the Synapse Films website along the way, that the company has now wisely decided to put together a standard edition of the Blu-ray and 4K Uhd release as well. Today, they announced that the street date for the standard edition is March 11th.

Fan-favorite horror film Trick 'r Treat is receiving a comic book extension from Legendary Comics, which just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project and has already nearly reached its goals. Now, horror fans can begin to get excited about the return of franchise mascot Sam, and the exciting anthology format of the movie, in comic book form.

The Kickstarter page is now live for Trick 'r Treat: Witching Hours, agraphic novel that combines the talents of franchise creator Michael Dougherty with an all-star line-up of writers and artists for four new tales of terror set in the Trick 'r Treat universe.

These stories are set to include horrifying creatures, space-age horrors, ghosts and of course, Sam himself, and will hopefully keep fans satisfied until news regarding the long-awaited sequel to the original film, Trick 'r Treat 2 arrives in the future.

New Trick 'r Treat Comic Brings Back...

Director Mike Dougherty is slowing pushing forward Trick ‘r Treat 2, the long-awaited sequel to his horror anthology film Trick ‘r Treat (watch it Here). Two years ago, he said the sequel is in “very active development“ and last year he mentioned that there is a “really great script” in place that he wrote with his Krampus collaborators Zach Shields and Todd Casey. He also revealed that the new film will give Trick ‘r Treat’s little icon Sam a “proper nemesis” to face off with. While we wait for that movie to make it into production, Legendary Comics has revealed that they’ve teamed up with Dougherty for a new graphic novel called Trick ‘r Treat: Witching Hours – and copies can be purchased through this Kickstarter campaign!

There’s no denying the power a fun and scary short story has over a young mind. At such an unsuspecting age, these horror tales can leave much more of a lasting impression. And just like last Halloween, ten classic children’s anthology books are brought to light after they faded into the darkness over the years. They may be hard to come by, but these vintage collections offer youthful frights just as much as adult nostalgia.

And to help demonstrate why they were — and still are — so appealing, a creepy story from each book is highlighted.

The “Thanksgiving” director produces Meta, Crypt TV, and ShinAwiL series “The Faceless Lady” which will debut exclusively on Meta Horizon Worlds. Billed as the first known live-action VR series, the six-episode “The Faceless Lady” will premiere in stereoscopic (3D) and have weekly installments that transport viewers (players?) into a new world.

The series is set in Ireland and has a storyline inspired by real 17th century Irish folklore, particularly the myths surrounding Lady Margaret Hodnett who haunts Cork’s Belvelly Castle. The “Southern Charm” star has shared the heartbreaking news that her brother Richard Worthington Green, known to family and friends as “Worth,” died on June 8 at 36.

“Worth left this world on top of the world – he had a beautiful passion for life and cared deeply for those around him,” Green and her family said in a statement to People.

We kindly ask for privacy at this time.”

Ciara and Russell Wilson's kids have plenty of spirit. The power couple brought their three children with them to watch game five of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets on June 12. With Wilson the current quarterback for the Denver Broncos, the family of course cheered on the Nuggets, with all three kids dressed in matching jerseys, and Ciara in a black cowgirl hat and boots. The sporty crew included Future, 9, Sienna, 6, and Win, 2.

"What a Historic and Magical night to witness with our family!" Ciara later wrote on her Instagram, congratulating the Nuggets on their first-ever NBA Championship. She posted a video of her kids walking into the stadium and celebrating with confetti raining from the ceiling. Additional clips showed her kissing Wilson on the cheek and holding Win on her hip as Sienna waved a yellow "Bring It In" banner. "Congratulations @Nuggets! Well deserved!

Emma Heming Willis has told her online followers that a clinical trial searching for a cure for frontotemporal dementia – a debilitating brain disease affecting her husband, Bruce Willis – has ended.

Bruce Willis retired from acting at age 68 earlier this year because of the disease’s progress.

“Yesterday I read that Wave Life Sciences ended their clinical trial that could potentially treat frontotemporal dementia (Ftd) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Als). Where I’m not sure it could have helped us over here, it doesn’t really matter, it still feels like a gut punch,” she wrote. She used a photo on the post of her daughters, Evelyn and Mabel, whom she shares with her husband.

Freddie Prinze Jr. regrets his Scooby-Doo movie appearances. Prinze Jr. appeared as Mystery Inc. team leader Fred in both 2002’s live-action Scooby-Doo and its 2004 follow-up Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. As of yet, there has not been a third sequel announced for the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, with the original threequel scrapped following its predecessor's poor performance, though the franchise is expanding due to recent animated film Scoob! and the animated series Velma.

Now, Prinze Jr. reveals to People that he would not return to Scooby-Doo were there to be another film. The Fred actor chalks this up to bad on-set experiences consisting of dishonesty from the studio and a lack of “straightforwardness", even going so far as to say he regrets appearing in the first two movies. Scooby-Doo star Sarah Michelle Gellar reveals that a kiss between Daphne and Velma was cut from the film. The 2002 project, which was written by James Gunn and directed by Raja Gosnell, brought the iconic characters of the Scooby-Doo franchise to live-action. In addition to Gellar as Daphne, the cast featured Linda Cardellini as Velma, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy in an adventure that brought the gang to a mysterious new theme park known as Spooky Island, where not all is as it seems.

HBOMax’s Velma is ostensibly meant to be a Scooby-Doo origin story but, almost halfway through season 1, viewers are missing a vital part of the origin story setup. Velma caused a lot of scandal online when the R-rated Scooby-Doo prequel series was first announced. As an adults-only spin on a family-friendly franchise, Velma was met with skepticism from some viewers, while the colorblind casting of the series also lead to racist backlash online.

However, while Velma’s R-rating might be hurting the show more than it helps, this is not the biggest problem that the series faces. The Scooby-Doo spinoff was reportedly already renewed for a second season at HBO Max, and Velma will need this second season if the series is ever to live up to its ostensible premise. Beyond Fest, the highest attended genre festival in the United States, is returning to Los Angeles for its tenth anniversary edition, which will be held from September 27th through October 11th. After much anticipation, the West Side Story remake is officially hitting theaters on Dec. 10. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film centers on Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler as star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria. While the movie is a reimagining of the 1961 classic, Spielberg's remake does away with the harmful stereotypes of Latinxs portrayed in the original. Spielberg also made the conscious decision not to include subtitles for the Spanish dialogue "out of respect for the inclusivity of our intentions to hire a totally Latinx cast to play the Sharks' boys and girls."

In an interview with IGN, the director explained that he gave casting director Cindy Tolan a "mandate" that he "wasn't going to entertain any auditions that aren't parents or grandparents or themselves from Latinx countries." He added, "Especially Puerto Rico, we looked a lot in Puerto Rico, we have 20 performers in our film from Puerto Rico or they're Nuyorican.

Chung Mong-hong’s The Falls won best narrative feature and three other prizes at Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards on Saturday night (November 27), while Kiwi Chow’s Revolution Of Our Times took best documentary feature.

Selected as Taiwan’s submission for best international feature at the Oscars, The Falls also won awards for best leading actress (Alyssa Chia), best original screenplay (Chung and Chang Yaosheng) and best original score (Lu Luming). The film received its world premiere at this year’s Venice film festival.
