Traditionally, Halloween is about covering yourself in fake blood and going to a party so that people can repeatedly ask you what you came as. When all you really want is a nice night in, right?
Hence this indispensable guide to 12 classic terrifying movies on Netflix. That's 24 hours of horror (give or take), so you can freak yourself out from sundown to sundown without ever having to leave the comfort of your sofa.
Although we strongly advise that you check behind that sofa first - and the curtains while you're at it - for the sake of your peace of mind.
1. The Omen (1976)
Arriving hot on the heels of The Exorcist, Richard Donner's The Omen solidified the notion that small children are terrifying and probably possessed by the Devil. The '70s horror is still an effective frightener that boasts moments to make you leap out of your seat.

Toby Whithouse's Under The lake is packed with references, from a 7th Doctor story through to Star Trek. Here's what we spotted...
This article contains lots and lots of spoilers for Under The Lake.
Under The Lake may not be the Dalek-filled continuity fest of the last couple of weeks, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t set our geek senses tingling. Here’s everything we were able to spot, from the obvious references to the slightly tenuous connections, from this week’s episode...
Ghosts From The Past
Under The Lake is a perfect example of what’s commonly referred to as a ‘base under siege’ story. These were a staple of the classic series, particularly during the Patrick Troughton era, not least because they meant the ever-stretched production team could save on the set budget. The first proper base-under-siege tale was William Hartnell’s final story, The Tenth Planet,...

Phillip Schofield has spoken about his forthcoming 24-hour challenge.
The presenter will attempt to break the British record for the longest live TV broadcast in December for ITV's Text Santa.
Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, Schofield said: "It's a personal record for me… In the way we are doing it, it is unique. On Monday from 11 o'clock in the morning right the way through until Tuesday 11 o'clock in the morning, I will be live on TV with no hiding place… It's a full 24 hours on TV."
The This Morning presenter went on to say that he has already planned out how and when to take toilet breaks.
"Obviously you have to think when that is possible to do… [it takes] a minute and 40 [seconds to go to the toilet] - because I've timed it - I'm pretty quick so long as the loo is nearby."
He continued to say: "For 24 hours, there is no question that I am worried about swearing.

Jake Quickenden has taken on his first Bushtucker Trial on tonight's (November 23) I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! episode.
The X Factor star had great success in the live trial Critter Cube, an event inspired by Phillip Schofield's game show The Cube.
The contestant won his first two stars by balancing poles in the first cube filled with green ants. He then was challenged to transfer 20 raw pig testicles from one bowl to another.
"Pig's tezzers? You've got to be kidding me," Quickenden joked, before completing the task with ease.
Quickenden added: "They taste quite good!"
Next, he was tasked with a memory challenge. Quickenden had to recreate a sequence by filling tubes with cockroaches and mealworms, which he did successfully to claim another star.
When asked what the worst part was, Quickenden replied: "Probably the testicles in me gob. They smelt a bit like mine, to be honest!

One celebrity will be tested in the first I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! live trial of the series.
The chosen celeb will face the Critter Cube during tomorrow night's (November 23) show, in a trial based on the Phillip Schofield-hosted game show The Cube.
The celebrity will first stop at the Critter-cal Construction station. Here they will have to stack five cylinders into a tower, which must stay upright for three seconds.
The celeb will lose a life if the tower falls, and will be joined by some biting green ants.
Revulsion Expulsion is the name of the second station, and for two stars the celebrity will need to move 20 balls surrounded by raw pig's testicles just using their mouth.
The trial will have its own version of The Body, who demonstrates the tasks before they are carried out, and there will also be narration by The Cube's Colin McFarlane.

Co-founder of UK production company behind Peep Show and Fresh Meat to target horror film-making.

Vine, who set up the All3Media-owned indie alongside Andrew O’Connor in 1996, told Screen’s sister magazine Broadcast that although it was “emotional” to leave Objective, it was the right time to step aside.
“I leave it in the hands of Andrew Newman. When he came here [in 2009] I had to pinch myself because working with such a talent was a privilege,” said Vine.
“I think things will only get better under Discovery and Liberty. To be owned by people sympathetic to what you do is a real advantage, as opposed to faceless men of the city.”

The two television stars will put their mental faculties to the test in the hit ITV game show in an attempt to win money for charity.
ITV suggested that Coronation Street star Marsh "takes a break from pulling pints" but asks whether The Cube will "break" her.
Meanwhile, Essex is described as a "shiny-toothed reality star" who "gives it his best shot".
Essex will be at home with The Cube's host Phillip Schofield, who recently provided the voiceover for his show Educating Joey Essex.
However, it remains to be seen whether either Marsh or Essex will be able to follow in the footsteps of Mo Farah - the only person so far to have beaten The Cube.

Objective's chief on why the magician's Channel 4 special this week had to be different and the return of Peep Show
Andrew Newman, an executive producer on illusionist Derren Brown's latest Channel 4 show, in which he coaches pensioners to steal a Chapman brothers painting from an art exhibition, is no stranger to brazen stunts. Early in his TV career, Newman worked with Sacha Baron Cohen in his Ali G phase and Chris Morris on Brass Eye, so he should have a natural affinity with Brown's high concept pranks.
As chief executive of Objective, the independent producer behind Brown's TV output, Newman oversees a programming slate that mirrors his own background working on offbeat, sometimes spiky series. The likes of Peep Show, Fresh Meat and Toast of London – recommissioned for a second Channel 4 series last week – attract critical plaudits and industry awards, but not always large audiences.

Phillip Schofield has revealed he used to take drugs in the early stages of his TV career.
The This Morning co-host spoke about his "dark side" during an interview with fashion magazine Hunger, in which he also revealed he once spent a weekend with two prostitutes.
He said: "It wasn't a case of hiding it. I did the same as everybody else.
"I was a lad; we partied a bit, but I didn't hide anything. It's just that nobody bothered to look in the right place.
"You have to remember that doing kids' TV then, you were expected to be the son of Enid Blyton, and that was very difficult.
"Now you can be much more open, and have a proper life. But then, it was almost, 'Oh, you've got a girlfriend. What type of girl is she?' But my mates and I very quickly realised: don't go into...
