Maestro star Carey Mulligan will receive the International Star Award, Actress at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The film awards, at which the actress will be honored, will take place on Jan. 4, with the festival running through Jan. 15.

“In this historical and personal examination of famed composer Leonard Bernstein, Carey Mulligan measures both ends of true love – its extraordinary heights and intense lows – conveying a striking role as Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein,” festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi says. “For this performance and her remarkable stature in world cinema, we are honored to present the International Star Award, Actress to Carey Mulligan.”

Mulligan’s previous film credits include An Education, Promising Young Woman, She Said, Wildlife, Mudbound, Suffragette, The Great Gatsby, Never Let Me Go, Public Enemies, Pride & Prejudice, among many others. Following her superb feature film debut, Promising Young Woman, writer/director Emerald Fennell made history by becoming the first British woman to be nominated for Best Director by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In addition to Best Director, Fennell also drew nominations for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

Prior to becoming a writer/director, Fennell spent the first decade of her career as an actress working in European film and television. She made her on-screen debut via the crime series Trial & Retribution in 2006 and now stars as Camilla Parker Bowles on the original Netflix hit drama, The Crown.

Rob Lowe is to star in and exec produce six-part crime drama “Wild Bill” for British broadcaster ITV. The miniseries is produced by 42, Shiver and Anonymous Content.

Lowe will play high-flying U.S. cop Bill Hixon, who is appointed chief of police in East Lincolnshire, a rural part of Eastern England.

When Hixon arrives in Boston, Lincolnshire, with his 14 year-old daughter Kelsey in tow, he’s hoping they can flee their painful recent past. But this unfamiliar, unimpressed community will force Bill to question everything about himself and leave him asking whether it’s Boston that needs Bill, or Bill that needs Boston?

The drama is the first time 42 Anonymous Content and ITV Studios label Shiver have collaborated to produce a drama series for ITV.

“Wild Bill” is created by David Griffiths, Kyle Killen, and Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, and will be written by lead writers and showrunners Keeble and Appleton.
