Good afternoon my lovelies!
The founder of Pflag (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Jeanne Manford has died at the age of 92. Manford began her activism in 1972 after her gay son Morty was beaten during a Gay Activists Alliance demonstration. Subsequently, Manford wrote a letter to the editor of The New York Post, stating "I have a homosexual son and I love him." Rest in Peace Jeanne.
One a lighter not, happy birthday to Joey Lauren Adams, Joely Richardson, Kate Middleton and Joan Baez! (Be honest, do any of you take issue with Joey Lauren Adams' lesbionic film Chasing Amy, or is it just me?)
The anti-gay One Million Moms organization is after The Biggest Loser's Jillian Michaels, not for being queer but for swearing. Wtf?

Back in October Bloody Disgusting exclusively reported that Katee Sackhoff (White Noise 2: The Light, Growl, The Haunting in Georgia) was in talks to star in Riddick for Universal Pictures and director David Twohy. Deadline confirms this evening that talks continue for her to play the female lead opposite Vin Diesel. The "Battlestar Galactica" alumna will play Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick (Diesel). Variety adds that Spanish thesp Jordi Molla - who came close to nabbing the coveted villain role in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek 2 - is taking his sinister sneer to another sci-fi franchise, as he's in negotiations to play the villain opposite Sackhoff in the untitled pic. He would play Santana, a mercenary who heads up an eight-man crew tasked with finding and killing Riddick. Production on the second "Pitch Black" sequel recently resumed after a two-month hiatus while the producers finalized financing.

While production picks back up in Montreal, Bloody Disgusting has been digging for the full cast of David Twohy's Riddick, the third film in the trilogy that will star Vin Diesel and Karl Urban. We have exclusively reported that Andreas Apergis, Katee Sackhoff (White Noise 2: The Light, Growl, The Haunting in Georgia), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, Devil) and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) have all been given offers. Add Matthew Nable to the list as "Boss Johns". Apergis would play "Krone", commander of the dark theocracy. Sackhoff would pay "Dahl", a Nordic merc tracking Riddick. We've also learned that there's strong interest in both Cliff Curtis and Holt McCallany as "Santana" and "Vargas", respectively.

Back in September, we brought you the news about Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek), who portrayed Vaako, the villainous Necromonger Commander in 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick returning with Vin Diesel for the third installment of David Twohy‘s franchise.
Now, B-d reports that Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall) and the always lovely and super-cool Katee Sackhoff (Longmire, Growl) have been offered roles in the forthcoming Riddick sequel. While no information was available on Woodbine’s role, its said that Sackhoff would portray “Dahl”, a Nordic merc tracking Riddick.
In addition to Woodbine and Sackhoff, the site reports that Andreas Apergis (Durham County) and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) have also been offered roles in the film.
Synopsis:
Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before.

Oh Katee Sackhoff. We all want such good things for you. You're pretty and seem quite charming and yet, you can be impressively badass. You kicked our collective asses in "Battlestar Galactica," even when the show was taking a turn into crazytown. You were the only remotely interesting part of that hideous "Bionic Woman" remake (yes, I watched it. Don't you dare judge me). You're like Summer Glau -- you just seemed destined for mediocrity after your shot at greatness.
Sackhoff has a couple of projects coming up, for those who are curious (and of course you should be). First is A Haunting In Georgia, which is not the Southern-set sequel to The Haunting In Connecticut. There's not much info available for it, and IMDb has this as the synopsis: In the rural South, a young family is terrorized by supernatural entities in their home.
Oh, what the crap. Not exactly bursting with originality,...

The first rule of new werewolf screamer Growl, is you do not talk about Growl. Unless, that is, you're the film's star and you're talking exclusively to us. "Battlestar Galactica" alumni Katee Sackhoff gave Bloody Disgusting the first details on the gory horror flick and said "it's like 'An American Werewolf In Paris' meets 'Fight Club.' " You had us at werewolf. Sackhoff, speaking from the Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Australia, said she plays Camden, the fight promoter for a traveling fight club who arrive in a ghost town tucked away in the Colorado Rockies. The only residents in town are the Maxilla family, who buy their way on to the fight card and soon reveal they're packing more than a mean right hook. They're werewolves and the fate of the fight club members varies between being eaten, killed or recruited to the family. Hell yes.

See, I have this problem where I came late into the "Battlestar Galactica" phenomenon (two years ago) so I am completely obsessed with Katee Sackhoff's badass portrayal of Starbuck, while most other fans were a bit turned off by the way "24" failed to sufficiently use her talents in the show's final season. That being said, it is to my great pleasure that The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Sackhoff will be starring in the upcoming film "Sexy Evil Genius," created by screenwriter Scott Lew and directed by Shawn Piller. Finally, not a horror flick!
Since her runs on "Battlestar Galactica" and "24," Sackhoff has slowly and steadily started to get film work. She is filming "The Haunting in Georgia" right now with Chad Michael Murray and Abigail Spencer, and is set to start on the horror flick "Growl" soon. Literally, all this woman has ever done is horror films. Her...

Score one for Battlestar Galactica fans! Katee Sackhoff’s rep confirms to EW that the actress has landed the leading role in Shawn Piller’s Sexy Evil Genius. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film centers on a woman who brings together her ex-boyfriends in a revenge plot. Genius is just one of three film projects Sackhoff has in the works: She’s currently filming The Haunting in Georgia and is set to star in the horror film Growl. The TV alum (Battlestar, 24, Nip/Tuck) previously appeared in films like Halloween: Resurrection and My First Mister.

A trio of new werewolf films is slated to kick off next year with Sxv'leithan Essex's new Growl, a film described as Fight Club with lycanthropes. Shock recently got the grabs on some new stills from the film, which is being shot in Los Angeles, including a still of Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame. Included below for your enjoyment!
The synopsis involves some sort of traveling 'fight club' which hits up a tiny ghost town set in the Colorado mountains. They take up some matches against the local toughs, only to find that the denizens of the town can get a little hairy and long of tooth.
This film sounds interesting, if perplexing - this breakdown might make an entertaining 90 minutes, but a trilogy? There has to be more involved. Especially considering the director has said there is also a graphic novel and video game planned. The bonus...

The werewolf subgenre has always been somewhat of a bastard stepchild in the world of horror, but what exactly is it about the cursed creatures that prevents so much fiction and filmmaking on the subject from being all that great? And, more importantly, will the upcoming Growl be one of the good ones?
Shock Till You Drop got the first look at what can only be described as Fight Club with werewolves. Director Sxv'Leithan Essex explains:
"Two of my favorite things thrown in the ring to see what will come out alive. But what I love most about it is it's completely character driven. I started writing and wanting to direct after seeing Aliens in theaters and how James Cameron made you care about the characters who would eventually be in peril. I love the characters in Growl like they are my family, and it sucks to have to kill some of them off.

Katee Sackoff has managed a sort of teflon magic in her post Battlestar career. She keeps landing in roles tacked onto the last seasons of shows or borderline B-movies that normally would be the sign of a waning career. Because starring in a movie described as a mix between Fight Club and werewolves, which is directed and written by a guy named Sxv'Leithan just screams of a climbing career right? That's how Sxv'Leithan Essex (what is that? ancient Assyrian?) describes his new film Growl, set to hit theaters in 2011.
