Jeff Dunham continues to rack up records around the planet. The premiere of "Jeff Dunham: Birth of a Dummy" on November 22 became the Bio network's top-rated telecast ever, and posted the most viewers ever on the channel with adults 18-49 and 25-54. Its second airing the following night earned Dunham the second most watched show on Bio to date. The record joins such other Dunham TV triumphs as having the best-rated show ever on Comedy Central with the 2009 premiere of his "A Very Special Christmas Special" and most watched series premiere with "The Jeff Dunham Show" in 2010. He has also had the most-watched cable show of the evening with both his holiday special and...

At a recent tour stop in Albany, Glenn Beck made a few announcements that roused the press. Chief among them: he planned sell his Connecticut mansion and leave New York City.
But he also made another, more surprising statement. "I'm going to make sure," Beck told the sold-out crowd, "that Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart don't occupy the space of comedy alone."
Despite his reigning status as resident media melodramatist, Beck has always had an interest in the comedy form. In 2008 he traveled the country with "Unelectable," traipsing around the stage sporting a neon-orange hunting jacket and holding a toy rifle, mocking the liberal view of right-wingers. In 2009, he followed suit with his "Common Sense Comedy Tour," which was simulcast across the country in 440 theaters.
But taking one's act on the road, amidst fans, is different than becoming the conservative version of Stewart or Colbert. Thus far, no successful news...

"How many push-ups was that?"

"Is that in Marine numbers?"
Yes, that's the caliber of comedy to be found here.
Imagine your sense of humor as an immune system. Life experiences work something akin to vitamin C, strengthening and fortifying your resistances to bad jokes, letting them pass harmlessly through your system. In this analogy, that would make The Jeff Dunham Show the equivalent of AIDS. Your sense of humor, typically the thing that makes you a prime audience for comedy, will wither and die because Comedy Central gave a hack comedian a TV show. With all the spark of a wet match, Jeff Dunham has always catered his ventriloquism comedy to the blandest purveyors of laughter.
“I want to laugh, but I don’t want my personal beliefs to ever be confronted or have to think about anything…at all.”
Then have we got a show for you. Jeff Dunham...

A couple weeks ago, we reported that Comedy Central had decided to cancel The Jeff Dunham Show after just one season.
The ventriloquist/comedian isn't going anywhere though. Jeff Dunham's still got a very popular act that he performs around the country and Comedy Central has said they'll continue to work with him on his live tour, a stand-up special, DVDs, and other products.
When the news of the show's cancellation came out, some were confused as to why the show had been cancelled. After all, The Jeff Dunham Show had the biggest premiere in the cable channel's history with 5.3 million viewers and a 2.2 demo rating. Unfortunately, those great ratings didn't last and viewership went way down for the subsequent episodes. The season (now series) finale only attracted 1.3 million viewers. Like most, Dunham's show was cancelled because of low ratings.

While the premiere of The Jeff Dunham Show attracted a record number of viewers for Comedy Central, the show's not coming back for a second season.
The Jeff Dunham Show is a sketch comedy series that features ventriloquist Dunham and his stable of characters. Segments of Dunham onstage in front of a live audience are combined with footage from around Los Angeles.
The October 2009 debut brought great ratings for the series and Comedy Central. An estimated 5.3 million viewers watched, with a 2.2 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic. Both numbers represented a record for the cable channel. Following multiple airings, the tally of viewers amounted to 7.9 million.
Unfortunately, the audience for the second episode of Jeff Dunham fell by 55% and subsequent installments fell even further. The season (now series) finale hit a low of 1.3 million...

Jeff Dunham scored the most-watched series premiere in Comedy Central history, but his "The Jeff Dunham Show" won't return for a second season.
Following Dunham's record-breaking October series debut that drew 5.3 million viewers, the puppet master's audience dropped 55% for episode two. His December episodes drew between 1.3 and 1.8 million viewers.
Asked whether "Jeff Dunham" has been canceled, a Comedy Central spokesperson said, "We have no plans to renew the series at this time."
Even near the end of his run, Dunham still earned a higher average rating than fellow Comedy Central series newcomer Daniel Tosh, whose series "Tosh.0" scored a 25-episode second season renewal. The difference is the cost of production -- and to some degree, critical reception.
Dunham's series was part of a larger overall deal with Comedy Central, so the cable channel continues to be in business with the ventriloquist who is one of the highest-grossing standups in the country.

Jeff Dunham and his puppets won't be returning to Comedy Central for another season. "The Jeff Dunham Show" won't be renewed, the network said.
Although the show premiered to strong ratings, with 5.3 million for its series premiere, it was the highest-rated Comedy Central premiere of all time. However, with large decreases, that number dropped down to 1.3 million viewers for its finale. Dunham also scored record-high ratings for the network with his Christmas special.
But Variety reports that a Comedy Central spokesman confirmed the network won't produce a second season but will look forward to other aspects of Dunham's deal, which will include TV specials.
Dunham is currently on tour where he'll hit cities throughout the U.S. thru March before heading to Europe for more dates.

In the original version of this post, I wrote about the big success of Jeff Dunham on Comedy Central -- last Thursday night, his new show The Jeff Dunham Show drew 5.3 million viewers, the highest ever premiere for a show on that network. However, I mistakenly thought the show aired Friday and compared the ratings to shows on other networks that night. I sincerely apologize if that confused readers. Here's the story as it should have been written in the first place.
Jeff Dunham's success was surprising and quite a feat. As my mother might say, "Go figure." The Jeff Dunham Show.
And the number of viewers got even better later that night when a repeat of the show aired -- 7.9 million viewers.

He did it again.
After breaking Comedy Central's ratings records with his special last year, ventriloquist Jeff Dunham repeated the feat on the series side.
The Thursday debut of "The Jeff Dunham Show" drew 5.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched series premiere in Comedy Central's history.
The show, mostly panned by critics, also posted all-time records for a Comedy Central series premiere in adults 18-49 (2.2 rating).
Including the same-night replays, the premiere of "Jeff Dunham" attracted 7.9 million viewers.
It was the top cable series on Thursday night and powered Comedy Central to its highest-rated night of the year.
