Millie Lies Low is a next-level cringe-comedy from Kiwi Country, a New Zealand goof on the Deep Fake lives the savvy among us can live on social media when our real lives are coming off the rails.

This little drama serves as the perfect alternative to the big studio dreck, plus no subtitles! Simple and sweet!

Savill keeps the tone upbeat, homing in on her character study. From goofy grins to anxiety-ridden wide eyes, Scotney’s range and talent is clear: her comic timing and commitment to Millie’s mania are exemplary. But in centring her above all else, there are a few too many narrative stones left unturned.

In the end, the movie far too easily waves away the potential interpersonal damage Millie has caused.
