This could have been a decent film, the lead actor was miscast, he doesn't have much acting experience, and he was a bit wooden. The rest of the cast was okay, the Mexican cartel leaders are probably the best performances, but they couldn't save the film. The directing was poor, they overused the drone landscape footage, and they were just really out of their league. It felt like a really low budget production, and was not particularly entertaining.

"American Sicario" is an action movie based on a true story. For all the fans of the "Sicario" movies with Benicio Del Toro, do not have your hopes high. This movie does not belong in the same category. Yes, you have plenty of action, swearing, and graphic scenes in this movie. Although it is based on a true story, there is no plot nor twist that you do not see coming from a mile away. The acting of Philippe A. Haddad (Erik Vasquez) is not bad. But the whole cast sucks. The longer down in the movie, the worse it gets. No kidding. And I am not even speaking about the plot holes. Even if you are a Danny Trejo fan, you will be disappointed. It is like he is doing this movie against his will. You are better of watching the trailer and skip the movie. Waste of time. Unless you are really bored, like I was....

To be honest the movie starts off real good. Moody and interesting, with good acting and directing.

But then somewhere around the half way mark it takes a really bad turn. And somehow the same actors who were doing a real good job acting, suddenly become really bad actors.

And the script gets stoopid.

Too bad. Could have been a really entertaining movie.

Don't waste your time buddies. Go for a walk or anything else instead.

That's the worst acting I have ever seen. Waste of money making this movie unless the actors paid the director.

Who voted !? Actor's relatives ??!! U really watched that ? If this is a 7.3 movie.... ok...nevermind. At the middle of the movie that cia girl agent says "hmmm...why a pretty rich boy like you choose this kind of life?" pretty indeed i'd say... and by the way, "sicario" is a soldier hired for his killing skills. That narco boss was the sicario ? Hehehe...poor guys...

Cheap actors, boring dialogs, zero talent, The main actor can even talk let alone act.

They literally wasted good source material on this movie and I don't even know who green lighted the production of this movie.

Although based on a true story the plot is just flat and only shows the stupidity of the person the movie was based on. The only surprise within the movie is that a "boss" who made it to a level where he dealt with thee cartels would be this basic.

Acting is quite bad and the characters totally underdeveloped with no background story.

I don't know who gave the money for this to be shot. This is the lamest most boring movie I ever saw. The acting from the main character down to Danny Trejo is so poor, and the directing is non existent. I think that this is ac lear example of money laundering or some other scheme.

Just a spoiled American thinking he's a criminal when he's not so he goes to the land of real violent criminals & the rest is all predictable after that. It's a decent watch but nothing more.

This is by far the best and most well produced movie I have ever seen. The way that our main character keeps changing from an American to a maxican accent shows perfectly how your social group affects your behavior. And when our main character told his friend that they should go for a walk when he would tell his friend about the death of his friends sister and then proceeded to go one step before ending the walk and telling him the bad news. It paints a perfect example of how he's the boss and he decides when the walk will end. But then again. The tragic ending of our main character is a very good way of showing no matter tough you get there will always be someone tougher. And the constant use of the word "orale" is magnificent. A beautiful way to simplify the Mexican/Spanish language while still keeping it tasteful. "When it happens, you will see it coming" I did not see this one coming. Overall a perfect movie. Would indeed recommend.

Make no mistake: This is a B-movie.

Just like the terrible post-jurassic park dinosaur movies of the 90s before it, and the terrible post-star wars sci-fi movies before that.; this is someone's sicario-project

If you watch it with friends to laugh, then it's actually not too bad of a time.

If you're looming for sicario, you're better off watching sicario.

Horrible acting. Horrible storyline. Garbage movie. Don't waste your time. I watched til the end because I actually thought this was a mean joke that was being played.

If a group of college students make a film like this as a graduation work, I guess they should be able to graduate... The lighting may contain some ideas, other aspects are mediocre or worse, nothing more.

If you woulda told me going in that this movie was gonna be a comedy instead of action I wouldn't have believed it

American Sicario was so unbelievably horrible and cheesy that I HAD to finish the movie just because I was laughing at how awful it was

Favorite part had to be the ELITE tactical "Sicario" training they got from "Portuguese", I'm completely surprised they didn't shoot BB guns out in the desert with the level of "training" they received, it was no wonder they were completely slaughtered in the first 10 seconds of a gun fight with a real drug cartel.

I typically find redeeming qualities in bad movies. I watch many bad movies and still find entertainment. There is not a thing this movie has to offer. It is terrible. The 6.3 it has right now has to be a sham. There is no way anyone thinks this is worthy of that. The acting is awful and the dialogue is worse. The plot was written terribly as well. This movie is a waste of time. Oh and they tried to hop on the Sicario bandwagon despite not a single American acting as a sicario. The title doesn't even fit the film, that's how bad it is.

Compte and Haddad did some very good acting. Danny Trejo was good too. Pretty good movie for a B list. At first, i thought the lead actors accent was fake but after some research i found out he was born in an American hospital in Mexico.

One star is generous. This movie is beyond bad. Quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. The storyline and acting were laughable, at best. I am actually still mad I wasted an hour and forty-one minutes of my life on this movie. It was physically painful to try and get through this. The picture/overall quality is so cheap seeming and most of the filming is done at nauseating angles. Don't waste your time.

Movie has some gun actions and some.exciting scenes So those thing made my time killing. Nice acting and Nice scenario.

I recommend this movie if you need killing time moive.

What a waste of an hour and a half......poor acting continuity, and writing. Great example of Hollywood's rejects getting together and working for a week and cobbling together a "production". They ripped off parts of the original Sacario movies (foreboding music and cutaway drone shots of the vastness and serenity of the desert) and tease you into the opening and then the eye rolls begin.

This movie is so bad it does not even deserve to be on IMDb. This was such trash, it was painful to watch. My head hurts, my feelings are hurt and I am contemplating suicide after watching this. If someone without brain, hands, movie equipment, 0 sense for writing a script and 0 talent for acting made a movie - it would probably still be better than this. Oh my god, please someone help me after this.

I am trying to figure out who rated this higher than a 1 . Pathetic. The acting is some of the worst I have seen . The lead doesnt even look like his profile pic anymore. Worst of the worst .
