Apple TV+ has given the greenlight to a second season of its debut German original Where’s Wanda?.
Starring Heike Makatsch (Love Actually) and Axel Stein (The Vault), the dark comedy follows the Klatts. Just as they thought their lives were finally returning to normal, their daughter Wanda (Lea Drinda) is caught seemingly red-handed, standing over a dead body. They will need to do everything in their power to prove her innocence and to avoid losing her again, as their investigation to find the real murderer takes them into the criminal underbelly of their sleepy suburban town.
Where’s Wanda? is produced by Germany’s UFA Fiction. It is one of a number of Apple TV+ non-English language shows, joining the likes of France’s La Maison and Spain’s You Would Do It Too. Yesterday, Apple launched Berlin ER, the German-language medical drama co-created by former emergency room physician-turned-screenwriter Samuel Jefferson.

Ben Stiller On ‘Zoolander 2’ Being Unfairly Treated By Critics: “It’s Hard To Think It Was That Bad”

Ben Stiller is looking back at Zoolander 2 and still doesn’t understand why it didn’t match the first film’s success.
In an appearance on Hot Ones on December 5, Stiller opened up about the Zoolander sequel after host Sean Evans asked which of his movies “was most misunderstood or treated unfairly by critics.”
“It’s very hard to analyze why critics like something or don’t. I’m always surprised when critics love something and I’m always surprised when they hate something because it’s so subjective,” Stiller said.
He added, “It’s hard to think it was that bad, that people didn’t like it that much. But maybe I’m wrong.”
Earlier this year, Stiller said he felt “blindsided” by the comedy sequel’s box office results.
“I thought everybody wanted this,” Stiller said on David Duchovny’s podcast Fail Better (via People). “And then it’s like,...

The original author has weighed in on Wicked. The 2024 Wizard of Oz prequel movie, which was directed by Jon M. Chu and stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba (the future Wicked Witch of the West) opposite Ariana Grande-Butera as Galinda (the future Glinda the Good Witch), is based on the 2003 stage musical of the same name with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. In turn, that musical was based on the Gregory Maguire novel Wicked, which was originally published in 1995.
Maguire recently sat down for an interview with Yahoo Entertainment. When asked about his opinion on the new movie, he said that "I hardly recognize it as my book anymore," though he also shared that he found it to be "far better than it has any right to be." It was no small feat to get “Saturday Night Live” off the ground at NBC, and as a result, the cast of “Saturday Night” is pretty huge. In many cases, the actors also look eerily similar to the people they’re playing.
Hitting theaters everywhere on Oct. 11 after a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles, Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night” tells the story of the 90 minutes right before the first-ever episode of “SNL.” It’s chaotic and at the time, even Lorne Michaels couldn’t explain what the show was going to be.
Below, you’ll find the cast of “Saturday Night” alongside what their real-life counterparts looked like back then.
Sony/Getty Images Lorne Michaels (Gabriel Labelle)
Lorne Michaels is the creator and, to this day, producer of “Saturday Night Live.” He’s played in “Saturday Night” by Gabriel Labelle, who had his breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans.

“Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost — currently in Tahiti covering surfing (and injuring his toes) for NBC’s Summer Olympics coverage — has another new job: Host of “Pop Culture Jeopardy!”
The “Jeopardy!” spin-off, announced in May, will run on Amazon’s Prime Video and start production in August, presumably once Jost gets back from the islands. The series, which comes from Sony Pictures Television (and its game show division), is being billed as “the first ‘Jeopardy!’ series created exclusively for a major streaming service”.
“Colin’s sharp wit and intelligence epitomize ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!,’” said Suzanne Prete, the president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, said in a statement. “He’s smart and quick, like our contestants, and we know he’ll be able to keep up with them while making this new series his own. We could not be happier that he is joining us for this new journey.

Well, who could forget the time when Christian Ditter’s How to Be Single’s very own Dakota Johnson & Leslie Mann flipped the script during a seemingly routine promotional interview with Wsvn Miami’s Chris Van Vliet?
The chemistry of the encounter was as indisputable as it was refreshing. Compliments on cute socks quickly turned into flirtatious quips, inviting Johnson and Mann to join in the fun while graciously avoiding the monotonous press junket questions. Through their laughter and wit, the actresses didn’t spare any chance to hit on the reporter. Mann asked the reporter if he was single and remarked on his socks, quickly throwing the interview off course.

“I thought everybody wanted this,” Stiller said on David Duchovny’s podcast Fail Better (via People). “And then it’s like, ‘Wow, I must have really f***ed this up. Everybody didn’t go to it. And it’s gotten these horrible reviews.”

Actress Dakota Johnson is known for her dry humor and quick wit, which people can see in various interviews. Johnson has turned in several brilliant performances in more serious fare, such as her collaborations with director Luca Guadagnino: the horror remake Suspiria and the drama A Bigger Splash. However, one of the actress' most underrated performances comes in the rom-com/breakup comedy, How to Be Single, as it puts her natural flare for dry humor on full display. How to Be Single is not your average rom-com because instead of focusing on finding "the One," it revolves around Johnson's Alice finding herself after breaking up with her long-term boyfriend. While there is still tons of traditional romance to be found in the film, it's more about gaining independence in your 20s and the fun that comes from being single. And it's all held together by Johnson's relatable and hilarious performance.

A car crash interview with a delusional prince, a new series adaptation featuring Patricia Highsmith’s most infamous creation, the second part of Zack Snyder’s pricey space opera and a paranormal detective show set within Neil Gaiman’s celebrated Sandman universe are among the big titles hitting Netflix in April.
Debuting April 4 is Ripley, Netflix’s glossy new take on Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. Fresh from the critical acclaim he received for All of Us Strangers, Irish actor Andrew Scott will be inhabiting the role of Tom Ripley in an adaptation that will be screened in black-and-white. The eight-episode series also stars Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, and acting newcomer Eliot Sumner (son of Sting and Trudie Styler) as Freddie Miles. Written and directed by Oscar winner Steven Zaillian, Ripley was originally set for release on Showtime before it found a new home on Netflix.

Fifty Shades of Grey's box office success launched a trilogy but started an unfortunate trend for Dakota Johnson's career choices. Johnson's critical acclaim pre-Fifty Shades trilogy contrasts starkly with more mixed reviews post-trilogy releases, like Madame Web. With potential to excel in acting, Johnson's recent Rotten Tomatoes scores indicate hope for a turnaround in her future roles.
As Dakota Johnson returns to the big screen, Screen Rant's own Pitch Meeting series is looking back at its Fifty Shades of Grey episode. The 2015 movie served as an adaptation of E.L. James' novel of the same name exploring the relationship between the titular sadist CEO and journalist Anastasia Steele, played by Johnson. Though critically panned, the movie was a box office smash, grossing nearly $570 million against its $40 million production budget and launching a trilogy based on James' subsequent novels.

Warning: This post contains Spoilers for Madame Web
Sony's Madame Web expands the Spider-Man Universe with a star-studded cast, including Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney. Dakota Johnson's portrayal of Cassandra Webb offers a younger, more action-oriented version of the character. The addition of characters like Julia Carpenter and Mattie Franklin, establishes multiple versions of Spider-Woman in Sony's Spider-Man lore, as well as introducing other major Spider-Man characters.
Sony's Spider-Man Universe expands with the Madame Web ensemble cast, which includes various famous actors. Madame Web is the latest installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, releasing after Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius. While it doesn't feature Marvel icon Spider-Man - or at least not in a prominent onscreen role - Madame Web's protagonist and her ties to the Marvel hero suggest the movie's plot can affect all wall-crawlers across the multiverse.
In Marvel Comics, Cassandra Webb a.k.

Dakota Johnson is most well-known for playing Anastasia Steele in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise. The films, which are based on the book series of the same name by E.L. James, marked her breakthrough role as an actress. Since then, she's led so many other films like "How to be Single," "Suspiria," and "The Lost Daughter." Next up, she's set to join Sony's Spider-Man universe as the titular character in "Madame Web."
Dakota's success is unsurprising, especially considering her parents are famous actors, themselves. Her father, Don Johnson, has starred in hit TV series like "Miami Vice" and "Nash Bridges," while her mother, Melanie Griffith, rose to fame by appearing in films like "Working Girl," "Body Double," and "Something Wild." Not to mention, Dakota's grandmother is "The Birds" star Tippi Hedren, and her former stepfather is the award-winning Spanish actor and director Antonio Banderas. That's right. Acting...

Rebel Wilson says her contract for the “Pitch Perfect” franchise prevented her from losing weight.
The actress-writer-producer, who played Fat Amy in the 2012 musical comedy and its 2015 and 2017 sequels, told “Call Her Daddy” podcast host Alex Cooper that she could not lose or gain more than 10 pounds.
“I couldn’t lose a massive amount of weight, because it was in the contracts for that movie,” she said on Wednesday’s episode. “You can’t lose, I think it’s not more than 10 pounds or gain more than 10 pounds. You have to kind of stay at the weight that’s in your contract.”
Universal, which distributed the “Pitch Perfect” films, did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Exclusive: Momo, one of the best-loved works by The Neverending Story scribe Michael Ende, is getting a big-canvas, English-language screen adaption from leading German producer Christian Becker and bilingual writer-director Christian Ditter (How To Be Single).
The ambitious movie version of Ende’s popular fantasy novel will chart the story of the eponymous Momo, an orphan girl who must do battle with the soulless and otherworldly ‘grey men’ who stealthily take over her city and steal time. Ende’s book has long been considered a critique of consumerism, stress and unfeeling individualism, themes that should strongly resonate in a contemporary context.
Published in more than 40 languages, this year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the book’s first publication and producers are hoping to begin filmmaking towards the end of 2023.
“For almost 35 years it was impossible to make a new adaptation of Momo,” explains Becker, who...

Exclusive: Emmy nominee Jake Lacy (The White Lotus) is set to star opposite Kiefer Sutherland in The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, Deadline has learned. He is set to portray Stephen Maryk, Queeg’s (Sutherland) executive officer aboard Caine, and the officer who relieved Queeg of duty.
The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial is an update on the 1953 play by Herman Wouk, itself an adaptation of his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Caine Mutiny. It hails from Paramount Global Content Distribution for Showtime.
The original story follows a naval officer who stands trial for mutiny after taking command from a ship captain he feels is acting in unstable fashion, endangering both the ship and its crew. While the original is set during World War II, the new project is being updated by director William Friedkin.
“The original piece was written for WWII, and Wouk included all the pent-up anger in this country over Pearl Harbor,...

Before Jake Lacy became Shane, the odious newlywed in last year’s smash-hit class satire The White Lotus, the 37-year-old actor was famous for playing nice guys. Not just good guys, but human beings so exceedingly pleasant in looks and affect that they could only be fiction.
In HBO’s Girls, for example, Lacy was Fran, the kindly schoolteacher who still offered Hannah a ride after she dumped him hundreds of miles from home. In the 2020 remake of High Fidelity, he played a harmless rock-climbing fanatic – the guy you date when you’re on the rebound from heartache.
Lacy thinks the nicest guy he ever played – I asked – was probably Ken from the film How to Be Single, a goofy one-night stand who coasts into unexpected fatherhood with uncanny aplomb. “But that’s a caricature almost,” Lacy says. “The idea of a nice guy.”
That said, the actor is incorrect.

Spooky Season is in session on Hulu, as the streaming service is adding a ton of horror-themed content this month. But not to worry, there’s plenty of other non-spooky new movies and shows to watch, too.
In the horror realm, director David Bruckner’s new (and well-received) take on “Hellraiser” arrives on Oct. 7, while horror films ranging from “Annabelle: Creation” to “The ABCs of Death” to “Monster House” to “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” arrive throughout the month.
In decidedly non-scary new arrivals, the entire series of “Schitt’s Creek” comes to Hulu on Oct. 3 after streaming on Netflix for the last few years, while the Hulu original film “Rosaline” – which tells the “Romeo and Juliet” story from a different point of view – streams on Oct. 14.
Other noteworthy library titles include Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch” on Oct. 25 and David Cronenberg’s “Crimes of the Future” on Oct. 31.

When the name of your streaming service so neatly fits into the word “Halloween,” you have a moral imperative to bring the goods come spooky season. Thankfully Hulu is abiding by that obligation with its list of new releases for October 2022.
Halloween…or rather Huluween is set to be a big deal for the streamer. This month sees a bevy of horror offerings. On the TV side of things, the series adaptation of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser premieres on Oct. 7. That will be accompanied by two animated specials from Solar Opposites co-creator Justin Roiland. The first is A Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special on Oct. 3, which is followed by The Paloni Show! Halloween Special! on Oct. 17.
