... I have no idea what to make of what I got.
First off, I saw two of those that featured Katrina Halili and the last one (as of today) that featured JC de Vera.
When you call your show "Obra", the viewer is led to believe that they are about to see a masterpiece, or if not, at least a story that is both believable and will at least provoke thinking.
The "Wild Things" inspired episode featuring Katrina Halili, Eddie Garcia and Polo Ravales did provoke some thought when Katrina's character began to cry after she pretty much eliminated everyone dear to her from the face of the earth. But at that point, you really just didn't care anymore.
As for Katrina as the hobo/taong grasa character, I just couldn't get beyond the flaws... like having her tied down with ropes in a professional mental facility. I mean, really? They do that? Please... Also, the cop shooting her out of nowhere just so we could arrive at the bitter end. It would've worked far better if the focus was more on Paolo Contis' character - an "atonement" type of thing, where his guilt is killing him for having left Katrina's character in the first place; thus, leading to her demise.
As for the JC de Vera episode... I hated his character. Period.
I can see the concept that the show is trying to get at. It just fails to work because well... it doesn't connect with the viewer. I don't know if it's the direction or the production or the acting or just the writing or whatever... Something's wrong.
I just want to see a masterpiece and I hope I eventually get it.
