Every month, Netflix has to purge some of its catalog and make room for new arrivals. Still, the first week of April 2025 is rough. If you wanted to catch many of the films below, you have two days left.

There is no way to binge-watch everything that is leaving. That is true even if you line up several TVs and your computer(s) next to each other and play different things at once. Don't do that because that would be weird (or would it?).

Several franchises are leaving on day one of the month. The excellent Rush Hour films and early Karate Kid movies are gone, as are several animated movies that are worth watching. Here is everything that is leaving in the first week of the month, though.

A spoiler, and a good one, for one of Sundance’s best films of this year: Ryan White’s loving, luminous documentary “Come See Me in the Good Light” doesn’t end in darkness, or death, or even in the way its own filmmaker and subjects were expecting it to. Instead, the film, which follows genderqueer poet Andrea Gibson and their wife, fellow poet Megan Falley, as they wrestle with Gibson’s aggressive ovarian cancer, is a celebration of life in all its messy glory.

Amongst the many cameos in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine movie (now in theaters and making all the money in the world), we get a first live-action incarnation of Lady Deadpool.

That the costumed-and-always masked Lady Deadpool is played by Blake Lively is in fact not “meta” (due to her being franchise front man Ryan Reynolds’ real-life wife) but fitting, seeing as the comic book character when introduced back in 2010 was modeled on a Gossip Girl-era Lively.

On March 6, History of the World, Part II will finally arrive more than 40 years after Mel Brooks’ classic comedy History of the World, Part I. first premiered. Of course, Brooks never had any intention of adding future parts to his ahistorical film, but that yet makes the arrival of Part II so many years later even funnier. Described as a four-night comedy event, History of the World, Part II will release two episodes a day through March 9. Brooks returns to write and executive produce this series and will star alongside Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, and Ike Barinholtz. Guest stars include…everyone. Basically just everyone.

Horror delights, rom-coms and a new sci-fi series starring Christoph Waltz are just a few of the highlights arriving on Amazon Prime Video in February. This month sees the debut of the second and final season of “Carnival Row” on Feb. 17, while Feb. 24 is when “The Consultant” – a “Severance”-like thriller series starring Waltz and directed by “WandaVision’s” Matt Shakman – drops.

In terms of new original Prime Video movies, on Feb. 10 there’s “Somebody I Used to Know,” a romantic comedy starring Alison Brie who co-wrote the script with her husband Dave Franco (who serves as director).

And you’ll find last year’s buzzy horror hit “Smile” on the streaming service on Feb. 21, while “Mad Max: Fury Road” filmmaker George Miller’s “Three Thousand Years of Longing” arrives on Feb. 17.

Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier has bounced back in a big way. Her career came into sharp focus in the early aughts, but was minted later that decade when “After the Wedding” (2006; it made Mads Mikkelsen a household name) and “In a Better World” (2010) both scored Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Language Film (“In A Better World” would win). She had done Hollywood in between (the underrated “Things We Lost In The Fire”; 2007), but she was poised for huge things when Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper had agreed to star in “Serena” just as both their stars were going supernova (Lawrence was already an Academy Award winner before the film’s release).

The award recognizes industry leaders who have made a significant contribution to the business of entertainment. Gossip Girl co-creator Josh Schwartz recently told Vulture that Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence almost had her big break on the CW hit series he created with Stephanie Savage courtesy of the Serena van der Woodsen role that eventually went to Blake Lively.

The Inside Llewyn Davis star is set to lead the WWII drama Operation Finale, which will be directed by Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Twilight Saga: New Moon). Described as a drama akin to Argo and Munich, it will follow his character as an Israeli spy named Peter Malkin, who hunts down the Nazi general Adolf Eichmann, as scripted by Matthew Orton. Production is expected to begin this fall in Argentina, so we could see it by next year.

Award-winning writer-director Susanne Bier, fresh from the success of hit BBC/AMC mini-series The Night Manager, will deliver the keynote speech at the Screen Film Summit 2016, to be held on November 24 at Picturehouse Central in London.

The accomplished Danish film-maker, who has directed 14 feature films to date including Brothers (2004), Things We Lost In The Fire (2006), Love Is All You Need (2012) and Serena (2014), won a Primetime Emmy this year for her direction on The Night Manager. She also has an Oscar win, with drama In A Better World scoring Best Foreign-Language Film in 2011.

Bier will deliver the Film Summit’s keynote address followed by an on-stage conversation with Screen editor Matt Mueller.
