Every month, Netflix has to purge some of its catalog and make room for new arrivals. Still, the first week of April 2025 is rough. If you wanted to catch many of the films below, you have two days left.
There is no way to binge-watch everything that is leaving. That is true even if you line up several TVs and your computer(s) next to each other and play different things at once. Don't do that because that would be weird (or would it?).
Several franchises are leaving on day one of the month. The excellent Rush Hour films and early Karate Kid movies are gone, as are several animated movies that are worth watching. Here is everything that is leaving in the first week of the month, though.

Every month, Netflix welcomes a whole new batch of films to its catalog, which is always exciting to see. However, that also means plenty of films inevitably say goodbye to the beloved streaming service. Unfortunately, there are quite a few top-notch films slated for the chopping block that subscribers will want to check out before they leave the platform next month.
Despite the slew of films planning to make an exit from Netflix in April, there’s still plenty of time to watch them while they’re still around. That being said, don’t wait too long because who knows if they’ll ever make a return. Given the list of films scheduled to depart the streaming service, subscribers will undoubtedly want to check them out before it’s too late.

Once again, Netflix is refreshing its catalog, preparing for new releases to enter the platform. While the arrival of new titles is exciting, it can be disappointing for viewers who may not have had the opportunity to catch a favorite film or one that they haven't had the chance to see. Consider this a friendly reminder to queue up that watchlist with these films before they disappear.
With all sorts of genres ranging from children and family to horror and comedy, these films demand a viewing before they're removed from Netflix. Fortunately, not every release is leaving right as the month of April dawns, but that doesn't mean checking out the film should be delayed. For movie lovers who haven't watched a lot in March and are looking to stack their Letterboxd diaries, these are the films to watch out for.

Drake has been having quite the hard time these days. While his beef with Kendrick Lamar keeps taking new turns every day, old beefs are also coming into the light again. Serena Williams joining in the fray has only heated up the controversies regarding him even more.

His new album release, too, has been lackluster to put it mildly. In light of everything, though, another of his old feuds is also seeing the light of day again. That is, the one he had with Kanye West.
While fans aren’t very impressed with any of them right now, the way Drake inserted himself into their relationship drama is still quite the hard pill to swallow for his fans.

A spoiler, and a good one, for one of Sundance’s best films of this year: Ryan White’s loving, luminous documentary “Come See Me in the Good Light” doesn’t end in darkness, or death, or even in the way its own filmmaker and subjects were expecting it to. Instead, the film, which follows genderqueer poet Andrea Gibson and their wife, fellow poet Megan Falley, as they wrestle with Gibson’s aggressive ovarian cancer, is a celebration of life in all its messy glory.
When White was brought on to the film by producer Tig Notaro (who joined him at our studio) and her producing partner Stef Willen, he expected the film would end with Gibson’s death. So did Gibson and Falley, who even joke about it in the opening scene. The spoiler? Gibson was on hand to celebrate the film’s premiere at Sundance last week.

Production is underway on the AI thriller Serena, and Deadline reports that a sinister chatbot in the story is being played by Andi Matichak, who is best known for playing the role of Allyson Nelson, the granddaughter of Laurie Strode, in the recent trilogy of Halloween sequels from Blumhouse Productions and director David Gordon Green.
Directed by Rob Alicea, who is making his feature debut, from a script written by Jonathan Benecke and P.T. Despite being one of fans' most beloved ships in Pokmon, Ash and Misty have proven not to be one of the series' long-term couples. Over the years, the anime has presented the main hero with numerous companions. Of all the girls Ash has been friends with, though, none have been as close to a potential relationship as Serena.
Pokmon began airing in 1997 in Japan, with the English release following a year later. From the beginning, fans have had a number of ships they've cheered on. One of the popular pairings in the Pokmon anime series was Ash and Misty, his long-time traveling companion. Considering the age of the characters (Ash is consistently said to be 10 years old in every Pokmon season) and the audience, it makes sense that there wouldn't be any official relationships early on. However, after twenty-five years, there still haven't been very many romantic developments for the series' long-term hero,...

Amongst the many cameos in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine movie (now in theaters and making all the money in the world), we get a first live-action incarnation of Lady Deadpool.
That the costumed-and-always masked Lady Deadpool is played by Blake Lively is in fact not “meta” (due to her being franchise front man Ryan Reynolds’ real-life wife) but fitting, seeing as the comic book character when introduced back in 2010 was modeled on a Gossip Girl-era Lively.

Lady Deadpool Actor Reveals Original Inspiration for the Character Years Before Deadpool & Wolverine

The following contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine, now playing in theaters.
Deadpool & Wolverine promised many cameos, with several of them revealed ahead of time. One of the cameos the film hinted was Lady Deadpool, which led to many theories about the actor playing the character, and, as it turns out, the universe worked in very surprising ways.
Amid several exciting cameos, Deadpool & Wolverine also introduces the Deadpool Corps, which is a group of other Deadpool variants from the multiverse. Among them are Nicepool, Babypool, Dogpool, Kidpool, Cowboy Deadpool, Headpool, and, of course, Lady Deadpool. Although Lady Deadpool never takes off her mask, the credits confirm the speculation that she is played by Ryan Reynolds' wife, actress Blake Lively. In an Instagram post, Lively described her journey to Lady Deadpool and revealed a surprising connection that dates almost a decade and a half before Deadpool & Wolverine premiered.

Serena van der Woodsen's character in Gossip Girl was 16 years old when the events of the series began. By the end of the show, she was around 26-27 years old due to a time-jump in the series finale. Actress Blake Lively was 20 years old during the filming of Gossip Girl, making her around 25 when the series ended. The age similarity between Lively and her character helped in portraying a balance of maturity and freshness. Serena's character underwent significant growth throughout the show, becoming less interested in social events and more responsible and mature. Her relationship with Dan contributed to her character development, making her less privileged and snobby.

Toxic TV friendships span genres, genders, and age groups, proving that unhealthy relationships can exist in any setting. Friendships like Brooke and Peyton from One Tree Hill may seem fine on the surface but are actually full of betrayal and heartache. From Sherlock and John in BBC's Sherlock to Walter and Jesse in Breaking Bad, these TV friendships are full of deceit, manipulation, and toxicity that keep viewers hooked.
Relationships between characters are the driving force of any good TV show, but some TV friendships prove too toxic to support. A healthy friendship should be one built on mutual admiration, trust, and support, where those involved feel lifted up instead of dragged down. Unfortunately, that can't be said for every friendship shown on TV - even when the show tries to portray it as a "strong" friendship.

On March 6, History of the World, Part II will finally arrive more than 40 years after Mel Brooks’ classic comedy History of the World, Part I. first premiered. Of course, Brooks never had any intention of adding future parts to his ahistorical film, but that yet makes the arrival of Part II so many years later even funnier. Described as a four-night comedy event, History of the World, Part II will release two episodes a day through March 9. Brooks returns to write and executive produce this series and will star alongside Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, and Ike Barinholtz. Guest stars include…everyone. Basically just everyone.

Brooks returns to write and executive produce this series and will star alongside Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, and Ike Barinholtz. Guest stars include…everyone. Basically just everyone.

It’s ironic but unavoidable that the greatest annual celebration of film should be a television special — but that’s just how it is. March often means Oscar season, a time for cinephiles to boot up that small screen you use for movies and use it to see if they win any awards during a telecast.
If you don’t have TV service anymore, Hulu has you covered with a pre-Oscars telecast as well as two red carpet specials before and after the main event. Though the ceremony itself won’t be livestreamed on Hulu, it will be added the next morning, like regular ABC programming. Awards viewership has been in general decline over the past several years, but next-day streaming gives curious viewers a chance to join the conversation and boost those Oscar ratings after the live show. It’s also a chance for superfans to pause and rewind...

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper have starred in some great movies together over the course of their careers, though audiences have conflicting opinions about which one is best. They’re two of the most successful actors of their generation, and despite their individual accolades, it’s together that they’ve been at their best. Lawrence made her acting debut in 2010 with Winter’s Bone and quickly became a household name thanks to her involvement in the Hunger Games franchise. Cooper has been just as successful over the years, starting out in comedies like The Hangover and recently beginning his lucrative career as a director.
Individually, Lawrence and Cooper were two of the most successful actors of the 2010s - but together, their talents really began to shine, and they’ve developed a close off-screen friendship. The pair have been praising each other non-stop since they began collaborating, with each claiming that...

When Ryan White first met Pamela Anderson, she wanted to know all about his mother. “We spent a good 30 minutes talking about my mom,” says the Emmy-nominated director. It was the first thing that surprised him about the Nineties bombshell, who was for a not-so-brief moment in time the most famous person on the planet. Literally. The second surprise was her sense of humour, which, he says, is dark and slapstick. “I really think Pamela has a whole second career in romantic comedies.”
Her big heart and funny bone may not be what made Anderson world-famous, but they are what make the Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story so compelling. Made in collaboration with Anderson, White’s film unspools her life and career as we know it. On the surface, it is a two-hour tour through the big bullet points of both: Playboy, Baywatch, Tommy Lee, sex tape, that campaign...

In a missive sent around to last year’s Oscar nominees, stars were told to “read the room” when delivering speeches at the Academy Awards this month. Translation: Get off the stage before the orchestra is forced to awkwardly play you out.
In 1943, Greer Garson set a Guinness World Record for Longest Oscars Acceptance Speech, with her address upon accepting her Best Actress award forMrs Miniver clocking in at five and a half minutes.
Garson isn’t the only winner guilty of indulgence though. Hilary Swank, Adrien Brody and Al Pacino have all ignored the 45-second limit and consequently found themselves at the receiving end of a passive aggressive “Will you wrap this up?” stare.
Some actors, however, know that not every story needs to be so long and that brevity is an undervalued quality. Franklin D Roosevelt’s adage – “Be sincere, be brief, be seated” – could very well be...

The last time we saw The Handmaid’s Tale’s June Osborne, she’d led a pack of former handmaids to help her murder Commander Fred Waterford in the woods. With Fred’s blood drying on her hands, she returned home and crept into her daughter’s nursery to hold little Nichole for the last time before going on the lam or surrendering to the authorities — it wasn’t clear which. Either way: June knew the jig was up.
So in the Season 5 premiere, she’s shocked to find out that, actually, the jig will go on as scheduled! Nothing to see here!

Sorry, Gossip Girl fans, Serena, Blair & Co. will not be part of HBO Max’s forthcoming take on the CW series — but they do exist in the ethos of the new drama.
“There aren’t, like, new actors playing Serena and Blair. It’s not a remake. [It’s] a continuation of that world,” executive producer Josh Schwartz told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, where he was promoting his Hulu limited series Looking for Alaska.

The catchy tagline in the noteworthy documentary Ask Dr. Ruth boasts "size doesn't matter". It really should not matter especially when it comes to considering America's favorite and adored pint-sized sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer whose diminutive presence has had an impactful influence on pop culture not to mention society in general. Director Ryan White pays homage to the famed soon-to-be nonasegenarian (she turned age 90 in June 2018) as he chronicles a rather interesting and topsy-turvy life of the treasured German-born love doctor on call. Dr. Ruth secured a prominent legacy not only as a heralded sex therapist but also as a ubiquitous media personality, author, and carnal confidante to millions of people during her illustrious career in radio, television, and print....

Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier has bounced back in a big way. Her career came into sharp focus in the early aughts, but was minted later that decade when “After the Wedding” (2006; it made Mads Mikkelsen a household name) and “In a Better World” (2010) both scored Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Language Film (“In A Better World” would win). She had done Hollywood in between (the underrated “Things We Lost In The Fire”; 2007), but she was poised for huge things when Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper had agreed to star in “Serena” just as both their stars were going supernova (Lawrence was already an Academy Award winner before the film’s release).

(Spoiler alert: Please do not read ahead if you haven’t seen “The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2 finale, “The Word.”)
June (Elisabeth Moss) made a huge decision on Wednesday’s Season 2 finale of “The Handmaid’s Tale” when she chose to hand her newborn baby, Holly/Nicole, over to Emily (Alexis Bledel) and stay behind in Gilead to try and get her older daughter, Hannah, back.
Oh, and that was after a whole mess of Marthas helped her get away from the Waterford house in an epic Underground Railroad-fashion and she convinced Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) to let her and the infant go.
And while it’s pretty impossible to tell what you would do when faced with a conundrum like that (escape a dystopian regime with one child or remain in danger to have a chance to possibly save another), plenty of viewers who saw the Hulu series’ sophomore...

We didn’t see much of him on screens last year, but Oscar Isaac has been quite busy. This year, we’ll see him in the next Star Wars film, along with the George Clooney-directed Suburbicon, as well as alongside Christian Bale in The Promise next month, not to mention next year in Alex Garland’s Annihilation next year. He’s now found his next role, according to Deadline.
The Inside Llewyn Davis star is set to lead the WWII drama Operation Finale, which will be directed by Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Twilight Saga: New Moon). Described as a drama akin to Argo and Munich, it will follow his character as an Israeli spy named Peter Malkin, who hunts down the Nazi general Adolf Eichmann, as scripted by Matthew Orton. Production is expected to begin this fall in Argentina, so we could see it by next year.

What if we lived in a world where the norm is to be homosexual and heterosexuality is taboo? How would we react to societal transgressions? The new film “Love Is All You Need?” embraces that premise and explores a “Romeo and Juliet”-like story between a Middle American star quarterback and a male sports journalist that rock a small town to its very core, setting off a series of catastrophic events that will forever change the community. Based on the 19-minute short film of the same name that sparked controversy around the country, the film tackles bullying and prejudice head on, examining our most fundamental biases.
