When a horror movie villain is good, they can make even the worst movies watchable if not enjoyable. When they're great, they can become some of the biggest entertainment icons in film history. But when they're bad? Oh, bother...
From cliched ghost children to cheap cash-grab-creatures using intellectual property in the public domain, the last few decades have introduced some truly horrific (in the bad way) additions to the genre that prove not every ghoul is cut out for the silver scream. We braved popular blockbusters, maligned remakes, and indie cult classics, scrutinizing the headlining monsters and murderers of each to assess their originality, design, and how they support their respective stories overall. We found a few truly terrible films were nearly rescued by an antagonist that met these standards with flying colors (our compliments to young Brahms).
On the other hand, when they failed to do so, the film couldn't be totally saved,...

It’s recently been announced that the controversial 1983 satanic film, The Baphomet Seance is being re-released after being shelfed for decades.
There was much political and religious backlash in the 1980’s for films such as Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) that depicted a manic Santa Claus and Faces of Death (1978) that featured “real” footage of death.
These films became very popular during the mom and pop video store boom of the 80’s and they gained a cult following among horror genre movie goers.
This begs the question, why was The Baphomet Seance buried and almost completely forgotten about? In an uncovered police report recently published on Ncn News Channel Nebraska, we find out more about the controversial happenings related to the film.

Last year, fans enjoyed an exceptional entry in the franchise A Quiet Place. But A Quiet Place: Day One wasn't a continuation of the story that captivated worldwide audiences in 2018 and 2021, respectively. A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II tells the story of the Abbott family, a few of the many survivors of an alien invasion that forces humankind to start living in absolute silence. Fans are still eager to know what happened to the surviving Abbotts, and according to producer Brad Fuller, they will find out soon enough. A Quiet Place Part IIIis still on track and in active development.

Night Talkers has a cool premise and an even cooler ending. The stories in between are hits and misses, but the ending—albeit predictable—is a game changer. We’re certainly going to dissect that in this article, and also touch on the three main stories of this little horror anthology, which is written and directed by Topher Chambers.
Spoilers Ahead
What is the movie about?
Ari Hall runs a widely popular late-night horror show—called ‘Night Talkers’—on the local radio station of Marshalltown. He mostly invites guests at the studio, who share their strange experiences, but for once, he has decided to tweak the format. It just so happens to be a night with a storm warning—this bit of setup doesn’t have any impact, though—when Hall asks his listeners to call and share their ghost stories. The phone starts ringing like crazy, and the first...

Jerry Seinfeld has gotten to meet and work with a number of iconic comedians over the years. He appeared on Rodney Dangerfield’s HBO special, went for a ride with Eddie Murphy on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and once hung out with the ghosts of Abbott and Costello for some reason.
Play
But one legendary comic that Seinfeld never got the chance to interact with on his over-caffeinated Crackle/Netflix series was Joan Rivers.
Following her death in 2014, Seinfeld revealed that he had actually asked Rivers to be his “lead guest” on the new season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. He even shared an old text message documenting that she said she would “Love” to be on the show.
Unfortunately, according to Seinfeld, Rivers had to postpone the taping because she was “going in for a medical procedure.” This was in late August; Rivers died on September 4th...

Just over a week ago, we had to share the sad news that director George Armitage, best known for bringing the world Grosse Pointe Blank and Miami Blues, had passed away at the age of 82. Armitage got his start in the entertainment industry at the start of the 1970s, writing the film Gas-s-s for producer Roger Corman and then going on to write and direct Private Duty Nurses and write Night Call Nurses, also for Corman. By the end of the ’70s, he had written and directed the films Hit Man and Vigilante Force, as well as the TV movie Hot Rods, and wrote the scripts for the film Darktown Strutters and an episode of the TV series Monty Nash. Oddly, he did not earn any writing or directing credits in the 1980s – but, of course, this was not for a lack of trying. In fact, Kevin Tenney, the writer...

The best Olivia Cooke movies and TV shows reveal one of the most consistently uphill career trajectories of any actor to enter the spotlight in the last few decades and include a staggeringly consistent number of critically acclaimed projects. Born in 1993 in the UK, Olivia Cooke is most widely recognized for her role as Alicent Hightower in HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, as well as shows like Bates Motel and highly celebrated movies such as Sound of Metal and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.
Olivia Cooke’s on-screen career started in 2012 in BBC miniseries like Blackout and The Secret of Crickley Hall. However, it was the 2014 horror The Quiet Ones (which was filmed several years before it released) that allowed her to lay the foundations of her career. It's a common refrain that the sequel is never as good as the original, with some movie sequels that truly didn't need to happen tainting the first film's legacy. Every so often, a sequel like "The Dark Knight" or "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" comes along that's just as good, if not better, than the first. These are the follow-ups that build upon a solid foundation to keep the characters' journeys going. But what happens when that foundation is filled with cracks and holes?
A bad movie doesn't bode well for a series' future. Whether the first movie got off to a rocky start or a franchise is already a few films deep and starting to lose its luster, it can be easy to write the whole thing off. But there are those rare cases where a sequel to an awful movie turns out to be pretty good, if not downright fantastic.

Just before Halloween back in 2022, it was announced that Willa Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner – who both have experience working in the Scream franchise, as Fitzgerald was in the Scream TV series and Gallner appeared in the 2022 Scream movie – were set to star in the “cat and mouse thriller” Strange Darling. The movie was given a theatrical release back in August, and JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols loved it; you can read his 9/10 review at This Link. It has since moved on to digital and physical media releases… but distributor Magenta Light Productions feels that it should have performed better at the box office, and believe it would have if the film had a better marketing campaign. So they have filed a lawsuit against their marketing partner, Spellbinder.

Will Forte is one of my favourite comic actors, but he may only have 19 years left to live. At least, that’s if you believe what a pissed-off spirit said through an Ouija board. While appearing on Rachel Dratch’s Woo Woo podcast, Forte flashed back to when he was a teenager and asked the Ouija board how he was going to die. The spirit answered that he was going to be stabbed to death at 73. Very specific.
The prediction happened when Forte was a teenager and had visited a girl he was interested in. The girl was friends with a “self-proclaimed witch” who brought over the Ouija board. “I would ask questions of this Ouija board that nobody else would know the answers to, and it would get the answers correct. And so I was pretty blown away,” Forte said. “I was thinking, like, is there a way that...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.
Marvel Television's Agatha All Along included many incredible Agatha Harkness moments, adding to the Salem witch's highlights from her MCU debut in WandaVision. Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness made a huge impact on WandaVision as the magical infiltrator of the Scarlet Witch's Hex around Westview, New Jersey. Three years after Wanda Maximoff put Agatha under a spell, trapping her as nosy neighbor Agnes, Agatha was broken free and set out with a new coven down the Witches' Road in Agatha All Along.
Agatha Harkness is one of the most interesting and complex new characters introduced to the MCU, and Hahn's portrayal of the centuries-old witch has been outstanding. Now that Agatha All Along has come to an end with its dramatic double-finale on October 30, more has been revealed about Agatha Harkness' history in the MCU, including her romance with Aubrey Plaza's Death,...

Warning: Contains major spoilers for the entirety of Agatha All Along
If there's one thing Marvel loves, it's a final battle. According to the MCU handbook, the epic culmination of a hero's journey must end with a big CGI-fuelled spectacle where good and evil clash via pew-pew laser hands before justice is won and the end credits roll. But Agatha Harkness isn't one to play by the rules, and that was especially true of her solo series, which consistently defied expectation — don't say it — all along. WandaVision sequel Agatha All Along followed its predecessor with some big swings that played with the Marvel formula, conjuring key elements into something new and, dare we say, even magical.
Yet the full extent of this didn’t become clear until the two-part finale that turned the show on its head faster than Lilia Calderu flipping those cards and reversing the tower. Because as it turns out,...

The following contains spoilers for Agatha All Along Episode 9, "Maiden Mother Crone," now streaming on Disney+.
Agatha All Along has been full of twists and turns that have kept fans guessing week after week. Its predecessor, WandaVision, took a puzzle box approach to its storytelling, so audiences knew to be on their toes going into the new series. With so much speculation going on about certain characters' true identities and motives, perhaps it was inevitable that some fans would correctly divine a few of its big twists, like Joe Locke's Teen being Billy Maximoff. That said, the show still manages to trick viewers with subtle hints scattered throughout the season.
Although viewers knew to expect certain reveals in Agatha All Along, the series included some successful red herrings and other clues that could easily be misinterpreted or missed altogether on a first watch. These clues also weren't just about surprises that audiences predicted,...

Considering that Agatha All Along is a spinoff from WandaVision, Disney Plus’ first proper MCU television series, there are naturally many links to its predecessor. Several inhabitants of Westview return for this show, both as players in Agatha’s spellbound detective drama dreamscape, as well as ordinary citizens in the real world. Senor Scratchy is also still around – he was the pet bunny that Agatha lent to Wanda for her magic show in WandaVision. Early on, the pendant that Agatha finds in the woods is the same one she wears throughout WandaVision.
In the pilot, Agatha searches for the book from a dead body’s library slip, before she learns it is the deceased Scarlet Witch. At the library, within the “true crime” hex, first she is told that the book was stolen, and then she sees that all the copies were burned. This is a reference to the Darkhold,...

Peacock's Hysteria! is the perfect blend of supernatural horror and the genuine fear that came when the Satanic Panic was at its height. The result is a TV series with a lot of moving parts that delivers thanks to its talented cast and crew. The biggest standouts are the show's main characters, Dylan, Spud and Jordy -- members of a band who get in over their heads when they accidentally start a satanic cult.
Cbr had the opportunity to sit down with actors Emjay Anthony (who plays Dylan), Kezii Curtis (Spud) and Chiara Aurelia (Jordy) to discuss what it was like to be in a band and whether they actually had to learn the instruments they were shown playing in the series. The following contains major spoilers for Agatha All Along, Episode 7, "Death's Hand in Mine," now streaming on Disney+.
The seventh episode of Marvel Studios' Agatha All Along came with yet another major reveal for the series. The previous two episodes confirmed Joe Locke's Teen was actually Billy Maximoff, the son of the Scarlet Witch, revealing how he survived the collapse of Wanda's Hex over Westview. Now Episode 7, "Death's Hand in Mine," has featured the debut appearance of the McU's iteration of Death -- or, at least, the first appearance of Death in her true form. As many fans had predicted, Death has actually been a part of Agatha All Along since its very first episode, hidden among the coven.
In Marvel's comic continuity, Death has often been presented as a female character, most infamously known for being the love interest of Thanos. However, when Thanos was introduced to the MCU,...

Agatha All Along has been all about the surprise character reveals lately. Last week, we learned that Teen (Joe Locke) was actually William Kaplan, a kid interested in witchcraft. And actually, William Kaplan was really Billy Maximoff, the son of Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlett Witch, whose consciousness went inside the then-dead body of William Kaplan after Wanda's weird magical dome from WandaVision collapsed. I mean, it's a confusing answer but it's still an answer.
In the newest episode, "Death's Hand in Mine," we get another reveal: Rio Vidal, the mysterious witch played by Aubrey Plaza, is none other than...Death! Like, Death, the concept of Death, incarnate. We'd actually gotten a few hints to this effect before, like when a Ouija board told the coven that death was in the room with them, and Rio laughed. The board wasn't just talking in the general sense; Death was really there.

In the last episode of Agatha All Along we finally learn who the teen is and how Lilia was the one who placed Sigil upon him. In this episode, we finally learn whom Lilia is, as she faces her trial which reveals more than audiences expected. How will this episode change the show moving forward? Let's find out!

The entire episode focuses on Lilia, whom we learn has lived for hundreds if not thousands of years, learning she had a special ability to predict the future since she was a child living in Italy. However, this gift has done nothing but cause trouble as she still could not save her village from a plague or the old woman (who we assume was her teacher) from death.

This post contains spoilers for "Agatha All Along" and Marvel's comic books.
The quality of a yet-to-be-unveiled season finale often hinges on a show's penultimate episode, and "Agatha All Along" seems to have knocked it out of the park with episode 7, "Death's Hand in Mine." Technically, two more episodes are left to be aired, but as episodes 8 and 9 will drop together as a part of the story's final stretch, it remains to be seen how the narrative pans out in a structural sense. Anyhow, episode 7 does something intriguing by subverting the linear flow of the story, making these changes integral to Lilia (the brilliant Patti LuPone), who finally embraces her true potential as a divination witch and embraces death, realizing that it comes for us all. Midway through her epiphany, however, Lilia learns that Death is none other than Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza), with some of the flashbacks recontextualizing our...

As one of Marvel's most powerful characters, Death joining the MCU is very exciting development. Marvel Studios has never shied away from killing off some of the McU's biggest characters, with any number of villains, and notable heroes such as Quicksilver, Gamora, Black Widow and Iron Man having bitten the dust. The original source of this tragic concept, Death, had been absent from the MCU, but that has all just changed. After years of teasing the formidable cosmic being in the MCU, she's finally here.
Lady Death has been a regular fixture in Marvel Comics for the last five decades, so it's high time she was introduced to the MCU. Luckily, Marvel Studios has subtly been referencing and teasing Lady Death's MCU debut since Phase 1, so her first appearance in the franchise makes a lot of sense, and is set up to be incredibly satisfying. Warning! This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 7.
Agatha All Along episode 7 ended with the reveal of Rio Vidal's true identity as Lilia Calderu's trial on The Witches' Road played out. This trial involved the exploration of Tarot Card reading, fitting with Lilia's role as the head of divination for Agatha All Along's coven. The episode was exceptionally written, jumping back and forth between parts of Lilia's life that showcase how her divination works; not only is the lovable member of Agatha All Along's cast seeing the future, but outright experiencing her timeline of events in a non-linear order.
The trial ended with Lilia outlining her past, her future, what her goal is, and how she will live out the time she has remaining. These reveals were scattered throughout Agatha All Along's ending, as the last trial of the McU's Witches' Road beckons for the show's two-part finale.

In Werewolves, a supermoon event has triggered a latent gene in every human on the planet, turning anyone who entered the moonlight into a werewolf for that one night. Chaos ensued and close to a billion people died. Now, a year later, the Supermoon is back….
Grillo and Miller – whoa yeah! Definitely has a Dog Soldiers vibe to it! The film also features Katrina Law, Ilfenesh Hadera, James Michael Cummings and Lou Diamond Phillips.

The superhero genre has completely enthralled the world, launching actors into global superstardom. Marvel actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are household names thanks to their awe-inspiring performances in the MCU. Despite recent criticism of the superhero genre by Hollywood elites like Martin Scorsese, Marvel actors are capable of doing more than running around in front of a green screen.
Many actors have starred in captivating movies across all genres both before and after their Marvel fame, sometimes with their fellow superhero actors. It is more often than not harder to watch a movie from a decade ago and not recognize an actor from the MCU. Here are some of the movies that have featured MCU actors working together, both new and old.

As our witch coven encounters their next trial on the Witch's road, the Salem Seven aren't far behind. In Agatha All Along season 1 episode 5, Agatha must face her dark past which costs one of the witches their lives.
It seems our solid coven is falling apart leading to one big (although predictable) reveal. Let's not waste another second and talk about it.

Agatha All Along recently dropped its fifth episode, where the coven faced the Trial of Spirits, Agatha’s specialty. Unfortunately, they entered the trial with little preparation, as Salem’s Seven managed to exploit a summoning ritual that wasn’t properly closed in episode 4.
The trial’s theme taps into a familiar trope: teens using an Ouija board during sleepovers. This is precisely what Teen discovers in the house within the first few minutes of the episode.
The rules for using an Ouija board are straightforward: everyone must keep their hands on the board at all times, avoid taunting the spirits, and properly close the ritual by saying goodbye. Agatha kicked off the trial, and the first “spirit” to communicate with the coven was supposedly Mrs. Hart, who died during episode 3.
Agatha attempted to mock Mrs. Hart by imitating her speech and mannerisms, trying to convince the coven that she was possessed.

Remember the movie Demonte Colony? The one where four friends, Raghav, Sajith, Vimal, and Srini went into that terrifying mansion and all ended up dead after retrieving a cursed necklace that belonged to Demonte’s wife? It turns out that we were wrong about Srini being dead. Even though he jumped from the building and we thought he did not make it, he actually survived on June 6, 2015. Shocking, right? In Demonte Colony 2, we find out that Srini is in a coma, and it turns out that the new main character of the sequel, Debbie, actually crossed paths with Srini on June 6, 2015. And why did Srini survive? Because Srini and his estranged brother, Raghu, are both cosmically connected and are a “dual bond,” which means that if one dies, the other dies as well. So on that very day in 2015 Raghu after jumping down from his own building survived, and just like him,...

Agatha All Along, the latest hit in the MCU, has been making waves with both fans and critics alike, as you may already know. The WandaVision spin-off underwent several title changes before settling on its current name, and we were surprised that it stuck when the show premiered.
The first two episodes dropped on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with the remaining seven episodes releasing weekly until the finale on November 6.
We’ve been closely following the series, focusing on its characters, particularly Aubrey Plaza’s mysterious Rio Vidal. Fans are convinced that “Rio Vidal” is a cover for something far more sinister, sparking numerous theories about her true identity.
Speculation has ranged from Mephisto to Blackheart, but a recent promo suggests Rio Vidal might be one of Marvel’s most powerful supernatural figures. Want to know who? Keep reading to find out!

Once upon a creepy time, Mike Flanagan wasn't interested in making a horror sequel. The writer-director of the original spine-chilling features Absentia, Oculus, Hush, and Before I Wake described himself to Esquire in 2016 as "[having] an allergy to sequels and remakes in general." Ouija, a 2014 movie from Universal Pictures, scored poorly with critics but turned an impressive enough profit to warrant a sequel (a worldwide gross of $103 million against a budget of just $5 million). Faced with a creative dilemma, Universal executives, collaborating with Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions (which had co-produced Flanagan's Oculus), sought a filmmaker who could improve Ouija's missteps. Despite Flanagan's disinterest, Blum promised him near-complete freedom on the project.

Earlier this year, we learned that Magenta Light Studios will be giving Strange Darling a wide theatrical release in the United States on August 23rd – and with that date right around the corner, a new trailer for the film has arrived online, along with a pair of posters. The trailer can be seen in the embed above, and the posters can be found at the bottom of this article.
Reviews from audience members who saw the movie at Fantastic Fest last year indicate that it will work best if viewers have as little information as possible going in. We previously...

The 1980s horror film Spookies was a notoriously troubled production. Filming began in 1984 with Brendan Faulkner and Thomas Doran at the helm… but then creative and legal issues arose during post-production, so that version of the film (which was going by the title Twisted Souls) was never completed. Instead, an investor hired Eugenie Joseph to shoot new footage – involving a different cast and a lot more monsters – that was then mixed together with the footage left over from Faulkner and Doran. This mish-mash was released under the title Spookies in 1987, and over the decades it has developed a cult following. And that cult is now so large, Spookies producer/co-writer Frank Farel is moving ahead with Spookies 2!
Farel dropped the sequel news into an interview with The Barrens Hideout Podcast at the Dark Arts Festival in Lincoln, Rhode Island last weekend. He said (with thanks to our friends at Bloody Disgusting for the transcription), “Remarkably,...

Last year, producer/director Louisa Warren announced that she was working on two fractured fairy tale horror movies, Cinderella’s Curse and Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre has been given a VOD release – but it’s not called Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre anymore. The movie can be found on VOD under the title Ouija Castle, and if you want to watch it on Amazon, it’s at This Link. A trailer for the film can be viewed in the embed above.
Coming our way from ChampDog Films and filmed in Scotland, Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre / Ouija Castle was scripted by Jasmine Ebony Thomas and tells the following story: The beautiful Princess Thalia is thrown to ruins after her father’s mysterious death. She lives with Prince Edison who she is in love with but can no longer marry since losing her status.
