From cliched ghost children to cheap cash-grab-creatures using intellectual property in the public domain, the last few decades have introduced some truly horrific (in the bad way) additions to the genre that prove not every ghoul is cut out for the silver scream. We braved popular blockbusters, maligned remakes, and indie cult classics, scrutinizing the headlining monsters and murderers of each to assess their originality, design, and how they support their respective stories overall. It’s recently been announced that the controversial 1983 satanic film, The Baphomet Seance is being re-released after being shelfed for decades.

There was much political and religious backlash in the 1980’s for films such as Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) that depicted a manic Santa Claus and Faces of Death (1978) that featured “real” footage of death.

These films became very popular during the mom and pop video store boom of the 80’s and they gained a cult following among horror genre movie goers.

This begs the question, why was The Baphomet Seance buried and almost completely forgotten about? In an uncovered police report recently published on Ncn News Channel Nebraska, we find out more about the controversial happenings related to the film.

Agatha All Along has been all about the surprise character reveals lately. Last week, we learned that Teen (Joe Locke) was actually William Kaplan, a kid interested in witchcraft. And actually, William Kaplan was really Billy Maximoff, the son of Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlett Witch, whose consciousness went inside the then-dead body of William Kaplan after Wanda's weird magical dome from WandaVision collapsed. I mean, it's a confusing answer but it's still an answer.

In the newest episode, "Death's Hand in Mine," we get another reveal: Rio Vidal, the mysterious witch played by Aubrey Plaza, is none other than...Death! Like, Death, the concept of Death, incarnate. We'd actually gotten a few hints to this effect before, like when a Ouija board told the coven that death was in the room with them, and Rio laughed. Agatha All Along episode 7 ended with the reveal of Rio Vidal's true identity as Lilia Calderu's trial on The Witches' Road played out. This trial involved the exploration of Tarot Card reading, fitting with Lilia's role as the head of divination for Agatha All Along's coven. The episode was exceptionally written, jumping back and forth between parts of Lilia's life that showcase how her divination works; not only is the lovable member of Agatha All Along's cast seeing the future, but outright experiencing her timeline of events in a non-linear order.

The trial ended with Lilia outlining her past, her future, what her goal is, and how she will live out the time she has remaining. These reveals were scattered throughout Agatha All Along's ending, as the last trial of the McU's Witches' Road beckons for the show's two-part finale.

Many actors have starred in captivating movies across all genres both before and after their Marvel fame, sometimes with their fellow superhero actors. It is more often than not harder to watch a movie from a decade ago and not recognize an actor from the MCU. Marvel's Agatha All Along has been expanding the lore surrounding witchcraft in the MCU. The WandaVision spinoff follows Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness on a quest to reach the end of the Witches' Road and reclaim her lost power. However, Agatha cannot walk the Road alone and has assembled a new coven of witches. Each of these witches has shone a light on a different aspect of witchcraft and exhibited their own unique special skills. The trials they have faced on the Road have also explored new supernatural corners of the MCU and Episode 5, "Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power," featured a surprising first for Marvel.

There is never a bad time to watch horror movies, but there is something about watching them in October that just hits differently. And luckily for us, Netflix has us covered with an epic assortment of horror that will keep you spooked all month long.

As our witch coven encounters their next trial on the Witch's road, the Salem Seven aren't far behind. In Agatha All Along season 1 episode 5, Agatha must face her dark past which costs one of the witches their lives.

It seems our solid coven is falling apart leading to one big (although predictable) reveal. Let's not waste another second and talk about it.

The episode begins with a quick reminder of how and why Agatha is so hated. Although this was covered in WandaVision, it seems Agatha was feared and hated by her witch coven, which included her own mother.

Agatha All Along recently dropped its fifth episode, where the coven faced the Trial of Spirits, Agatha’s specialty. Unfortunately, they entered the trial with little preparation, as Salem’s Seven managed to exploit a summoning ritual that wasn’t properly closed in episode 4.

The trial’s theme taps into a familiar trope: teens using an Ouija board during sleepovers. This is precisely what Teen discovers in the house within the first few minutes of the episode.

The rules for using an Ouija board are straightforward: everyone must keep their hands on the board at all times, avoid taunting the spirits, and properly close the ritual by saying goodbye. Agatha kicked off the trial, and the first “spirit” to communicate with the coven was supposedly Mrs. Hart, who died during episode 3.

Agatha attempted to mock Mrs. Hart by imitating her speech and mannerisms, trying to convince the coven that she was possessed.

The latest episode of Agatha All Along, "Darkest Hour / Wake They Power," sees the Salem Saven arrive on the Witches' Road in animal form before returning to their monstrous "human" personas.

The coven panics and we learn that when Agatha Harkness killed her mother's coven, she spared their young children...the only problem is, they've become the Salem Seven and are hellbent on taking revenge.

Our leads escape on brooms but are eventually forced into another house that appears to be themed after a 1980s-style horror movie. Teen has lost his spellbook, though it soon becomes clear this is Agatha's trial thanks to the Blood Moon outside.

Forced to use a Ouija board as another 30-minute countdown begins, it appears they're communicating with Mrs. Hart after she possesses Agatha. Alas, the villain was just pretending.

Just before Halloween back in 2022, it was announced that Willa Fitzgerald and Kyle Gallner – who both have experience working in the Scream franchise, as Fitzgerald was in the Scream TV series and Gallner appeared in the 2022 Scream movie – were set to star in the “cat and mouse thriller” Strange Darling. Agatha All Along, the latest hit in the MCU, has been making waves with both fans and critics alike, as you may already know. The WandaVision spin-off underwent several title changes before settling on its current name, and we were surprised that it stuck when the show premiered.

The first two episodes dropped on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with the remaining seven episodes releasing weekly until the finale on November 6.

We’ve been closely following the series, focusing on its characters, particularly Aubrey Plaza’s mysterious Rio Vidal. Fans are convinced that “Rio Vidal” is a cover for something far more sinister, sparking numerous theories about her true identity.

Aubrey Plaza’s character in Agatha All Along remains...

Once upon a creepy time, Mike Flanagan wasn't interested in making a horror sequel. The writer-director of the original spine-chilling features Absentia, Oculus, Hush, and Before I Wake described himself to Esquire in 2016 as "[having] an allergy to sequels and remakes in general." Ouija, a 2014 movie from Universal Pictures, scored poorly with critics but turned an impressive enough profit to warrant a sequel (a worldwide gross of $103 million against a budget of just $5 million). Faced with a creative dilemma, Universal executives, collaborating with Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions (which had co-produced Flanagan's Oculus), sought a filmmaker who could improve Ouija's missteps. Despite Flanagan's disinterest, Blum promised him near-complete freedom on the project.

After a limited theatrical release, Lee Daniels' new supernatural horror film The Deliverance has finally landed on Netflix. Inspired by the terrifying Ammons haunting case, the R-rated movie stars Golden Globe Award-winning actress Andra Day as a struggling single mother who finds herself and her kids fighting for their lives against an ancient demonic force residing in their Pittsburgh home.

Joining Day in the horror flick are Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Mo'Nique, Caleb McLaughlin, Anthony B. Jenkins, Demi Singleton, Omar Epps, Miss Lawrence, Tasha Smith, and others. The 1980s horror film Spookies was a notoriously troubled production. Filming began in 1984 with Brendan Faulkner and Thomas Doran at the helm… but then creative and legal issues arose during post-production, so that version of the film (which was going by the title Twisted Souls) was never completed. Instead, an investor hired Eugenie Joseph to shoot new footage – involving a different cast and a lot more monsters – that was then mixed together with the footage left over from Faulkner and Doran. This mish-mash was released under the title Spookies in 1987, and over the decades it has developed a cult following. And that cult is now so large, Spookies producer/co-writer Frank Farel is moving ahead with Spookies 2!

Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre has been given a VOD release – but it’s not called Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre anymore.
