The former oar-champion Hanna has taken over the youth training in her club and works in the boat shop of her former trainer Georg. Besides the only parent manages the stress household with her 13-year-old daughter Lilly and holds up a complicated far-relation with the physician Andreas, who practices the most time in Africa. Jan is the owner of the coffee-roasting establishment Kastner, and only parent, too. His wife died by a car accident one year ago. Although he tries to care for his son Tim, he missed to notice by his occupational stress, that Tim hasn't stood his mother's death. The life of Hanna, Lilly, Jan and Tim changes suddenly, when Hanna's loving beetle was crashed with Jan's car. Since that point in time Hanna and Jan quarrel every possible time. They get into big trouble, when Tim capsizes by his oar-training and Hanna helps him to rescue in very last second. First by a talk with his father-in-law Peter, Jan suddenly falls in love with Hanna, but she accepts Andreas' surprised proposal of marriage.

In the same way as the love between Hanna Sander and Jan Kastner turbulently began, so it also continues. Hanna's daughter Lilly, who is in puberty, boycotts all common activities, because she is enough busy with her own life - so she thinks. When her biological father canceled the long-awaited vacations at short notice, her whole world fell apart. Even Tim shows hardly interest for a common family life. The memories of his died mother are still strong. An "accidental" arranged excursion and the common balloon trip becomes to a memorable event though. Jan plans with his "new family" to spend the vacations together at the Baltic Sea. On the Island Rügen Lilly gets to know the 17-year-old Marco and suddenly falls love with him. When Lilly is missing one evening, it develops to a quarrel between Hanna and Jan. Furious Hanna sets off for home.
