In recent years, Stevie Nicks said she has worked to remedy one major regret from earlier in her life. The Fleetwood Mac singer said that for much of her life, she did not think of herself as a political person. Now, she is much more engaged and hopes to encourage women to vote. She said she has come to regret the fact that she didn’t vote until recent elections.
Stevie Nicks said she feels a lot of regret about not voting
In 2024, Nicks released “The Lighthouse,” a song she wrote following the overturning of Roe v. Wade. She hopes the song’s message will encourage women to vote, something she did not do until recently.
“I’m going to reach out to women and say, ‘You have to vote,’” she told Rolling Stone. “You have to. I never voted until I was 70 years old because I wasn’t at all political.

Jon Stewart Criticizes Media for Focusing on Trump’s Absurd Stunts Over “Enemy From Within” Rhetoric
On Monday’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart took on Donald Trump’s trending moments from the campaign trail in recent days: the former president’s staged shift at a McDonald’s and his lewd comments about former pro golfer Arnold Palmer, both in Pennsylvania. However, Stewart didn’t have the same reaction to these incidents that a number of news outlets did.
Instead, the host, calling this the “fever dream” portion of the 2024 election, criticized the media for not focusing on Trump’s dangerous rhetoric like him calling elected officials the “enemy within.”
“Kamala Harris is out there sweating the details over her new opportunity economy. Trump’s just out there farting around,” Stewart said. “That’s his whole campaign right now. ‘Ave Maria’ dance party, ‘I’m going to deport everybody,’ football tailgate, blame the Jews if I lose, McDonald’s drive-thru. ‘Morning Joe’: Proud Patriot Larry Wilmore Says ‘Our Problems Are With ‘Merica’, Not America | Video
Larry Wilmore says there’s a distinction between the America he loves and the ‘Merica that’s at the root of a lot of problems in the country.
While on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” talking about his current comedy tour “Comedy, Magic, and ‘Merica,” Wilmore explained to host Mika Brzezinski the difference between the two.
“I try to make a distinction between America and ‘Merica,” he said. “I love America, I’m a proud patriot, I think most Americans are good people. Our problems are with ‘Merica. In ‘Merica, that’s where you get the divisiveness, that’s where you get Twitter, that’s where you get the squeaky wheel that says all these things. ‘Merica has all the problems that America is like, ‘Oh come on, we can do better than this.'”

Mark Marshall, Chairman of Global Advertising & Partnerships at NBCUniversal, found himself in a rare position heading into the 50th anniversary season of Saturday Night Live.
Speaking on a panel Tuesday at Advertising Week New York, Marshall said there was so much interest from buyers that he was able to choose his preferred partners.
“This is not an easy one,” he said of the general advertiser experience in the milestone season. “You don’t have the same creative control, you know you’re going to lean on the show in a different way. I had many people, including one whom I saw earlier today, who said they wanted to be a part of it and I said that they couldn’t.” With a laugh, he continued, “We typically, in the sales group, don’t say that. MSNBC legal correspondent Lisa Rubin stopped by “Morning Joe” on Tuesday to explain the groundbreaking decision a Georgia judge made by striking down the state’s six-week abortion ban and declaring it unconstitutional by the state’s own laws.

The one-time Indianapolis Colts team member, who has also taken to the ring to fight in the WWE, surprised many a grizzled sports-media journalist Wednesday in Bristol, Conn., by alternatively lashing out at his critics (some of them in the room) and asking the audience to cut his freewheeling program, “The Pat McAfee Show” a little slack.

Seth Meyers addressed Tim Walz being named as Kamala Harris’ running mate on Monday night, following his show’s hiatus.
Late Night with Seth Meyers returned on Monday after a three-week break; The Late Show with Stephen Colbert had been off for two weeks.
During his “A Closer Look” segment on Monday, Meyers reviewed a whirlwind list of news events he missed, including Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race and now-Democratic presidential nominee Harris naming Walz as her running mate.
Meyers also addressed the recent surge in attention toward Democratic criticism of the GOP, with Democrats calling Trump, Vance and other Republicans “weird.” The trend took off after a Morning Joe appearance from Walz prior to Harris choosing him and has quickly spread throughout the party. Understandably, many credit Walz with starting the phenomenon.

MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosts have come out in defense of Vice President Kamala Harris for refusing to debate former president Donald Trump on Fox News, saying such a debate would be “rigged” in Trump’s favor. The controversy comes after Trump refused to debate with Harris on ABC News on September 10th, despite previously agreeing to the debate when President Joe Biden was still running for re-election. Trump claimed he never agreed to debate with Harris on ABC, only Biden. According to ABC News, the stipulations of the debate never previously mentioned any candidate by name, only stating that the participants will be nominees for president. Harris has said she will be at the September 10th debate whether Trump shows up or not. Trump has now tried to turn the narrative in his favor by challenging the presumptive Democratic nominee to a debate on Fox News. Harris has not agreed to this debate,...

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe Monday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear ripped into Sen. J.D. Vance, who former President Trump has selected to be his running mate. Vance, who framed himself as a child of Appalachian Kentucky in his best-selling memoir Hillbilly Elegy, does not speak for that community, Beshear argued.

If it sounded like a stump speech, that might not be a coincidence. In the days since President Biden announced his plans to end his reelection bid and put his support behind Harris, Morning Joe has become the platform of choice for those in the mix to be Harris’ VP nominee.

In a new episode of “Morning Joe” on Monday, host Joe Scarborough shared his thoughts on Joe Biden officially dropping out of the presidential race, saying that he thinks Donald Trump and Republicans are now “freaking out.”
“I’ve heard from inside the Trump campaign for some time right now that the one thing Donald Trump feared was not having Joe Biden to run against,” Scarborough said. “If you talk about boxing, he was used to going against Biden, right? So, what have they done? They’ve switched it up — it’s going to be a southpaw now.”
Biden announced his decision on Sunday night, writing: “I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.” He then endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.

Exclusive: Vice President Kamala Harris has emerged among Hollywood donors as the top successor to head the Democratic ticket as calls for Joe Biden to step aside intensify, with a caveat.

“Can you imagine a former prosecutor up against a crook like Trump, she’d rip him apart,” another Hollywood supporter said, noting Harris’ past stints as San Francisco D.A. and California’s Attorney General.
“She had a rocky first couple of years, but Harris is a real team player and out there getting a great reaction on reproductive rights,” says a producer who was a big donor to Harris’ short-lived 2020 White House bid and both the 2020 and 2024 Democratic tickets.

Update: Joe Biden’s Covid symptoms “have improved meaningfully,” according to his doctor, while his reelection campaign said that he will return to the campaign trail next week.
The president took his fourth dose of Paxlovid this morning, and “his loose, non-productive cough and hoarseness continue to be his primary symptoms, but they have improved meaningfully from yesterday,” said the president’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, in a statement. “His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen saturation continue to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear.”
Meanwhile, in a statement released by the campaign, Biden said, “I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America: one where we save our democracy, protect our rights and freedoms,...

MSNBC’s flagship morning show, Morning Joe, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, was unexpectedly pulled from the air on Monday in favor of news coverage of the alleged assassination attempt on the former president.
Scarborough, visibly frustrated, expressed his displeasure with the network’s decision by stating on-air that he and his co-host were “surprised” and “disappointed” by the move and threatened to leave the program if it were to happen again.
He said live on air Tuesday morning, “Next time we are told there will be a news feed replacing us, we will be in our chairs… And the news feed will be us, or they can get somebody else to host the show.”
NBC network executives decided to replace Morning Joe with continuous news coverage. They reportedly thought that left-leaning guests might make inappropriate comments in discussions related to the Trump incident.

After acknowledging the attempted assassination on former president Donald Trump, Late Night host Seth Meyers condemned members of the GOP Monday — including Trump’s running mate, Ohio senator J.D. Vance — for how they continued to stoke fears in response to an horrific attack on U.S. democracy.
“Often after a tragedy like this, there are calls to forego politics,” Meyers began. “But to me, politics — the nonviolent exchange of ideas, and the peaceful resolution of disputes — feels more important than ever. An inclusive politics of compassion, empathy and community… is what we must recommit to now.” Which is why the...

Joe Scarborough, the namesake host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, addressed the network’s decision to pull Monday’s show from the air and instead run an NBC News/NBC News Now newsfeed that covered the aftermath of the assassination attempt on the life of Donald Trump.
“We were told, in no uncertain terms on Sunday evening, that there was going to be one news feed across all NBC channels yesterday,” Scarborough said, adding that it meant that “we were going to stay in breaking news mode throughout all day yesterday. The hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe were quick to vent their frustrations about Monday morning’s preemption upon their return to air Tuesday.

Joe Scarborough took to his regular A.M. spot on MSNBC Tuesday to rail against something irregular that happened the day before: a decision by network bosses to take his show, “Morning Joe,” off the schedule one day prior in the aftermath of an attack on former President Donald Trump.

Scott MacFarlane, the CBS News correspondent, wasn’t quite sure what was going on Saturday night. He was covering former President Donald Trump’s rally in western Pennsylvania when he heard noises that reminded him of firecrackers. They were gunshots.
Suddenly, MacFarlane realized he was in potential danger — and a nearby rival was trying to keep him safe.
“Rachel Scott pulled me down,” says MacFarlane, referring to the ABC News veteran. She “grabbed me by the arm, told me to get beneath the bleachers.” On Sunday morning, MacFarlane tells Variety, “I gave her a big hug.”
As TV news outlets try to pivot from one of the rarest of events — an assassination attempt on a former U.S. president — to coverage of the Republican National Convention, such goodwill may be in short supply. MSNBC pulled Morning Joe from the air on Monday, July 15 following the shooting at former President Donald Trump’s Pennsylvania rally on July 13. Viewers of the Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Willie Geist-hosted news program are angered by the network’s decision, announced prior to Monday morning, the day that the Republican National Convention is set to begin. MSNBC decided not to air the political roundtable program on July 15 in order to continue live coverage of breaking news events following the shooting on Saturday, July 13, according to CNN. Morning Joe will resume its live programming on Tuesday, July 16. A source told CNN that the decision was a preemptive measure just in case one of the many guests who engage in political discussion with the hosts said anything inappropriate regarding the shooting. “Given the gravity and complexity of this unfolding story, NBC News, NBC News Now and MSNBC have remained...

Two television networks have amended their coverage plans for the Republican National Convention following Saturday’s assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
On Monday, CNN reported rival cable network MSNBC decided to substitute its daily political affairs program “Morning Joe” with continuing coverage of the assassination attempt from NBC News. The network cited a “person familiar with the matter” who apparently said the decision to pull Morning Joe on Monday was meant to prevent an “inappropriate comment” from being aired on the show in the immediate aftermath of the situation. The program’s hosts and guests are often critical of Trump, and the show’s daily segments often focus on the former president.

MSNBC recognized the start of the Republican National Convention by giving its flagship morning program the day off.
“Morning Joe” and its early-a.M. companion program, “Way Too Early,” were scrapped on Monday as the NBCUniversal-backed cable-news outlet focused instead on breaking-news coverage tied to this weekend’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Most of NBCUniversal’s news outlets — NBC News, MSNBC and the live-streaming service NBC News Now — have offered a single “special report” feed, all of it showing the same coverage of the violent event and its aftermath.
CNN previously reported that executives at NBCU News Group, led by chairman Cesar Conde, were sensitive to the potential effects of a guest on “Morning Joe” saying something that could offend general sensibilities. But MSNBC has been in what producers call “rolling” coverage of the Trump shooting and the investigation into it. On Monday morning, the cable...

Joe Biden’s interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt is still on, but will now be taking place at the White House on Monday, according to a network source.

George Clooney Calls For New Democratic Nominee In Latest Hollywood Plea For Joe Biden To Step Aside
Updated, with additional details and react from other co-host: George Clooney, fresh off co-hosting a star-filled fundraiser for Joe Biden last month, is calling on Democrats to pick a new nominee and for the president to be a “hero” in stepping aside.
Clooney cited concerns over Biden’s age, and said that the president’s appearance at the fundraiser, in which he did a sit down with Barack Obama and Jimmy Kimmel, was similar to how he was at the debate with Donald Trump.
Clooney wrote in The New York Times, “I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced.

Whoever is living in the White House after January 20, 2025 will likely be calling up their favorite ideologically-allied cable-news hosts on the Oval Office landline. Monday’s cable news lineup made clear that both Donald Trump and Joe Biden, both off their prime as campaigners, are eager to use the Phone-a-Friend advantage.
Monday’s cable news agenda began with Biden dialing up MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and ended with Trump ringing Fox News’ Sean Hannity. Neither candidate appeared, while speaking to their respective home-turf cable networks, on camera; both were fed softballs. Back when Nixon debated Kennedy and was found unphotogenic by comparison, Kennedy exploited the difference and emphasized his relative youth; in the wake of the June 27 CNN debate that established Trump as a solid frontrunner, both candidates seem to be trying to escape the camera.
On Fox, Trump struggled to come up with anything in particular to say about Biden’s debate performance.

Add one of America’s most political filmmakers to the list of those calling for Joe Biden to step aside as the Democratic candidate for president.
Oscar-winner Michael Moore published a piece on his website asking the president not to “let your enablers hound you into doing what your body is begging you not to do.”
Then on his podcast, Moore called letting Biden go out on the debate stage last week “the cruelest form of elder abuse I’ve ever been forced to watch…Who would send an 81-year-old out onto any stage to debate a living monster at nine o’clock at night for a brawl that would not end until 10:42 p.m.?”
He then begged the president, “Let the doctors examine you. Then do the right thing.”
Moore’s suggestion for a replacement? Vice President Kamala Harris.
