Chapter Four: Both the Needle and the Knife

Well another bit of Sherlock Holmes mythos is dispatched without much fanfare as Inspector Lestrade is introduced, and he turns out to be a major bigot. Apparently all the adults in the world of The Irregulars are the scum of the earth. No good people here.

The girl who is slicing up locals and cutting the faces off to make skin masks is the real victim here. Jessie (played by Darci Shaw) confronts the killer on two occasions, and gives her a free pass both times. Jessie feels that the killer is justified, so it is alright to murder five people. The fact that Inspector Lestrade was rude to Jessie may have added to her desire to allow the girl to go free to kill again. Jessie is a pretty nasty character.

Mrs. Hudson, who was once the landlord and servant to Sherlock Holmes in the kinder era of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is now introduced as a heartless slumlord who is as filthy and nasty as everyone else. Apparently nobody ever takes a bath in the world of The Irregulars.
