Studios love a trendy needle drop in their trailers. The 2010s were especially fraught with movie previews set to Imagine Dragons tunes, which might have been single-handedly responsible for the band being unduly maligned and declared "the new Nickelback" by musicophiles. Sorry, but I gotta defend my boys; one of them's from my hometown!
The problem wasn't the songs but how they were used -- that and, in the case of Imagine Dragons, how often they were utilized. When the trailer for "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" deployed "It's Time," the band's debut single was seamlessly meshed with clips from Stephen Chbosky's bittersweet coming-of-age drama. However, when "Believer" suddenly hit in the teaser for "Murder on the Orient Express," it just shattered the mood. As fans eagerly wait for Elden Ring‘s Dlc, Shadow of the Erdtree, another Soulslike game is coming to Xbox Game Pass this month: Lords of the Fallen (2023). Elden Ring indeed has a loyal and dedicated fanbase but Lords of the Fallen could potentially hurt its sales when the Dlc comes out in June 2024.
Lords of the Fallen
Developed by Hexworks and published by Ci Games, Lords of the Fallen received mixed-to-positive reviews at the time of its release and sold over one million units within 10 days after its release. Apart from this, 10 more games are coming to Xbox Game Pass this month, including Ninja Theory’s highly anticipated game, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.
Will Lords of the Fallen hinder the sales of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Dlc?

When Showtime premiered Penny Dreadful a decade ago, we altogether expected a grand monster mash-up. And certainly, series creator John Logan delivered just that over the course of the three seasons that followed. But he also gave viewers something that we couldn’t possibly have anticipated: a horror drama of uncommon depth and crushing beauty. It is for that reason that all these years later, we still can’t help but hope he’ll reconsider his decision to end the show after just 27 episodes with the death of Eva Green’s Vanessa Ives. Years Before Rekha & Sanjay Dutt’s Linkup Rumors Surfaced, Nargis Called Her A Witch. (Photo Credit – IMDb/Instagram)
Indian actress Rekha ruled the cinema world for years and is considered a legend. On the one hand, she had an illustrious career in showbiz, while on the other, that is, in her personal life, love alluded to the Umrao Jaan star. She has been linked with several actors, and her affair with Amitabh Bachchan is still a hot topic. A few years later, there were rumors about Sanjay and Rekha’s affair, and some even claimed that the duo got married in a secret ceremony. From Akshay Kumar to Shatrughan Sinha, the Silisila actress has been linked with them all. People were left stunned when...

It’s Oscar night! While some of us might may feel the Academy Awards have lost their lustre over the years a bit, it can’t be denied that over the last twenty years, so absolutely amazing movies have won for Best Picture. And, well, some pretty lame movies won too. If this poll, we want you to choose your favorite, and then, in the comments, let us know what you think the worst is. For me, the choice is pretty easy: Crash. While I enjoyed it back in 2004, I can’t say it’s aged all that well. The Artist also really didn’t deserve Best Picture. Am I right?

The western genre has been so pervasive throughout the entire history of the movies, and it is hard to imagine doing anything in it that hasn’t already been done. Viggo Mortensen, in writing, directing, producing and co-starring in only his second film behind the camera (after 2020’s Falling) finds a moving, if tragic, love story to play against the stunning landscape of the circa-1860s West, and somehow it all feels new. John Ford and Howard Hawks would love this movie.
The Dead Don’t Hurt is a title that promises something else, but without giving away spoilers, it ultimately feels right for this story of Holder Olsen (Mortensen), a Danish immigrant who falls hard for Vivienne Le Coudy (a luminous Vicky Krieps), who he meets in San Francisco. Wanting some quiet peace in his life, they move together to Elk Flats, Nevada, and start what appears to be an idyllic life together.

Fox News turned up on the heat on Tucker Carlson, sending the ousted host a cease-and-desist letter a day before he was expected to address the indictment of Donald Trump in his third episode, according to a Monday report by Axios.
Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Carlson lawyer Harmeet Dhillon corroborated the action, tweeting: “My friend and client Tucker Carlson will not be silenced – by the far left or by Fox News,” and told Axios that Fox is “now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election.”
Carlson is under contract and is still being paid through 2025 by Fox News, which believes Carlson’s DIY Twitter show falls under its noncompete. The erstwhile “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host and his lawyers say Twitter is not a Fox News competitor, and that he has a fundamental First Amendment right to give his opinions on social media.

“Hurt but not defeated.” That’s the direction filmmaker Martha Coolidge gave to her star Nicolas Cage as they shot the pivotal breakup scene in the ’80s classic “Valley Girl.” In a filmed conversation from 2003 between the two for the film’s twentieth anniversary, Cage told Coolidge that he has “used that direction ever since” in all of his work.
As the iconic ’80s spin on “Romeo and Juliet” celebrates its 40th anniversary on April 29, and Cage returns to the big screen with his latest film “Renfield” — in which he plays the centuries old Prince of Darkness himself, Count Dracula, recovering from the latest attempt on his life with his familiar Renfield (Nicholas Hoult) in New Orleans — it’s clear that the impact of her words still resonate in the performances of the idiosyncratic actor.
He was just 17 years old when he auditioned for the role that would change his life.

Big Brother fans have seen alliances form before, but big ones usually don’t last. Tiffany Mitchell, Kyland Young, Derek Frazier, Xavier Prather, and Azah Awasum formed The Cookout in the first week. They later included Chaddha.
They were the Black houseguests and their mission was to have the first Black winner of Big Brother. Mitchell came up with a plan for all of them to align with someone outside the alliance. This helped them keep tabs on their strategy. If someone in The Cookout were on the block, they would have the votes to evict the other person.

Besides managing Lady Gaga in Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” remake (out October 5), this year Sam Elliott will star in another movie that sounds original in every way. “The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then he Bigfoot” will have its world premiere this July at the Fantasia International Film Festival. Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called American Idol, which paid tribute to Prince on Sunday — and sent two more singers packing.
Not even a consolatory embrace from the giant arms of guest mentor Nick Jonas could cheer up this week’s eliminated singers: Jurnee and Catie Turner. (For those keeping score at home, that makes this season’s Top 5: Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Maddie Poppe, Cade Foehner, Gabby Barrett and Michael. J. Woodard.)
As disappointed as I am that Jurnee has reached the end of her… journey… I can’t say I’m surprised to see her go.

Few plays work well in a cinematic environment. Singular locations grow restrictive, waves of dialogue sound superfluous, and sometimes the acting (suited for the stage) is too over-the-top to take seriously. Based on the 1996 stage-play by N.J. Crisp, That Good Night ticks these off like a to-do list.
In his last performance before his death in January last year, John Hurt plays Ralph – an agèd screenwriter living opulently in Portugal with his younger wife Anna (Sofia Helin). After receiving news of a terminal illness, Ralph tries to secretly make amends with his son Michael (Max Brown) by inviting him over. But this becomes difficult, as Ralph can never find the right opportunity to tell him.
Following the curse of most theatre-to-film adaptations, That Good Night doesn’t seem to desire a filmic presence. It mostly consists of monotonously stunted shots of actors acting, as if director Eric Styles and cinematographer...

A cool new fan trailer has surfaced for Avengers: Infinity War that is cut together in the style of Logan using Johnny Cash's song "Hurt". I know we've seen a lot of fan trailers in this style, but this one is particularly done well and I especially liked how it focused on the relationship of Thanos and Gamora, which is something that will most likely be explored more in Avengers: Infinity War. The trailer was cut together by Darth Blender and it came with the following description:

Drafthouse Films, Timpson Films, and Magnet Releasing have hired a whopping two women to be a part of the 26-chapter horror anthology film The ABCs of Death.
The film, which will begin shooting in June 2011, is based on the idea that each director is assigned a letter from the alphabet representing a horrific word to act as a springboard for a short horror movie. Think , "A is for Autopsy", "B is for Bog Monster", et cetera.
The 25 directors chosen to be a part of this are all fairly new, young-ish up-and-comers like Jason Eisener (Hobo With a Shotgun), Nacho Vigalondo (TimeCrimes), Srdjan Spasojevic (A Serbian Film), Banjong Pisanthanakun (Shutter), Adrian Garcia Bogliano (Cold Sweat), Ernesto Diaz Espinoza (Mirageman), Gadi Harel (DeadGirl), Thomas Malling (Norwegian Ninja), Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police), Simon Rumley (The Living and the Dead), Tak Sakaguchi and Yuji Shimomura (Yakuza Weapon), Marcel Sarmiento (DeadGirl), Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre...

The 2009 Twilight fever hit hard this fall and left many victims behind; however, it seems that the fever has passed, and like the bears, the Twilight (2008) fans have gone into hibernation. Mid-January, major news hit the Twilight world, but so many fans were in hibernation, few got fired up when they heard The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) DVD release date was slated for March 20, 2010. Twilight fever began last August, when the cast and the crew returned to Vancouver to film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010). The constant news, rumors, and celebrity spotting didn't let up until well after the November 20th, 2009 premiere. With New Moon gone from many theaters, Twilight fans have had no choice but to curl up for the long winter and wait patiently for the symptoms of the fever to resurface. While the vampires and werewolves prepare for the battle of a lifetime in Eclipse, fans are treated...

You know it's a slow DVD release week when two of the offerings are a couple of rather obscure films whose main selling points are that they star folks from The Twilight Saga. And speaking of Twilight, if you can look at the new cover art for the Near Dark Blu-ray without thinking of those sparkly vamps, then you're one of the lucky ones.
So, which of the Twi-kids do we have on tap? Ashley Greene (who plays Edward's "sister" Alice) can be found in Summer's Moon (originally called Summer's Blood ... hmmmm, wonder why they made that name change?), in which a family of serial killers stalk a young woman out to find the father she's never known. Then we have Jackson Rathbone (who portrays, coincidentally, Alice's husband, Jasper Hale) in Hurt.
