Kevin Baconwill always be known for his role as Ren in Footloose, and also for earning an Emmy nomination for his work in Taking Chance, but he’s now set to star in a new supernatural horror thriller that just got an exciting new look. Prime Video has officially released the first trailer for The Bondsman, the supernatural horror series that Bacon stars in alongside Damon Herriman and Jennifer Nettles. The trailer sees Bacon’s Hub Halloran die before being brought back to life, only to learn that it was the Devil who revived him with a new mission: hunting demons. The trailer balances both horror and comedy while showing Bacon and others in dangerous situations, but never too scared to make light and have a little fun.

The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10, "It Went By So Fast," now available on the CW app.
As Superman & Lois' four seasons unfolded, fans were treated to a bevy of magical moments. Tyler Hoechlin's Clark Kent didn't just shine as the Man of Steel. Lois Lane, the Super Sons Jon and Jordan, and ancillary characters like Steel (Wolé Parks) and Lana Lang proved how important they were to Smallville.
That's why it was bitter seeing the show end, even on a high note. Season 4 really brought Superman's humanity to light, and showed the strength of his inner-circle. With that in mind, here is how the episodes rank.

This opener had Doomsday and Superman finishing their battle. It shifted from the moon to Smallville in the most explosive manner. The CGI was well-done, erasing...

Fresh off his Emmy win for his supporting turn on “Mare of Easttown,” Evan Peters is sitting pretty in first place in our Screen Actors Guild Awards odds for limited series/TV movie actor. Just like at the Emmys, this would be his first SAG Award nomination, and should he take home the prize on Feb. 27, he’ll become the category’s second youngest winner ever.
Peters turns 35 on Jan. 20 and would be just the second thirtysomething to win the award after Darren Criss, the youngest winner at 31 when he triumphed for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” in 2019. Prior to Criss, Gary Sinise was the youngest champ, having been 40 when he prevailed for “Truman” in 1996. Sinise nabbed a second statuette two years later for “George Wallace.”
The average winning age is 53.85. The two oldest champs are legends who never had a chance to win a SAG Award...

Since the first Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in 1995, only four performers have nabbed trophies for roles that had previously earned them Tony wins. Brian Dennehy (“Death of a Salesman”) became the first in 2001, and then the other three all pulled off the same feat in 2017: Bryan Cranston (“All the Way”), Viola Davis (“Fences”), and Denzel Washington (“Fences”). This year Daveed Diggs is looking to join them by collecting a SAG Award for his Tony-winning role in “Hamilton.” If he succeeds, he will be the first to be so honored for a musical performance.

Jeff Daniels and Brendan Gleeson are no strangers to the Golden Globes, drumming up an impressive seven nominations between them. Now both could be on the verge of more recognition from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for their transformative performancess on the Showtime miniseries “The Comey Rule.” The political drama, based on former FBI director James Comey‘s book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership,” chronicles Comey’s contentious relationship with President Donald Trump during his first months in the White House.
Gleeson took on the formidable task of playing Trump, a role he managed to pull off in dramatic fashion after countless parodies of the president have been ingrained in the public’s mindset (most notably Alec Baldwin‘s Emmy-winning turn on “Saturday Night Live”). The Irish actor nailed Trump’s mannerisms and speech patterns, all while maintaining a serious tone under that mound of creamy orange hair.

“Godfather of Harlem” was a “completely unexpected” gig for Dan Leigh, but it had one thing that immediately made the production designer come onboard.
“I got a call. It was like, ‘Can you meet?’ The meeting was online, but it just kind of clicked because of my love of New York, my love of shooting in New York, in particular the history of New York, which is extremely important to ‘Godfather of Harlem,’” Leigh told Gold Derby at our Meet the Btl Experts: Production Design panel (watch above). “It is very mixed up with real characters from the mid-1960s, political, music, social, gangsters. And it’s kind of a tapestry of people who live a very high life and people who really have very little and everybody in between. That kind of New York history is extremely important to me.”

Showtime’s seven-part miniseries “The Loudest Voice” surprised awards pundits by receiving two Golden Globe nominations this year: Best TV Movie/Limited Series and lead actor Russell Crowe. Given the inclusion of “The Loudest Voice” in the series race, could it pave the way for Crowe to pull a surprise win for Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actor?
“The Loudest Voice” tells the true story of Roger Ailes (Crowe), the late chairman and CEO of Fox News. The miniseries focuses primarily on the past decade in which Ailes arguably became the Republican party’s de facto leader. It also touches on defining events in Ailes’ life, including his experiences with world leaders that gave birth to his political career, and the sexual harassment accusations and settlements that brought his Fox News reign to an end.

For composer Marcelo Zarvos, working on “Dark Waters” with Todd Haynes was “the highlight of my career.” He describes the director as “an incredible artist” who “is absolutely unafraid of music, and very aware of the potential and power of music.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Zarvos above.

The Focus Features release is a docudrama about a corporate defense attorney (Mark Ruffalo) who uncovers a long history of environmental pollution by the DuPont Chemical Corporation. In its style, the film shares a lot in common with investigative dramas like “All the President’s Men” (1976), “The China Syndrome” (1979) and “The Insider” (1999). That’s a change of pace for Haynes, who’s best known for his romantic period dramas “Far From Heaven” (2002) and “Carol” (2015). So the filmmaker “was looking for something quite different” from Zarvos’s score too.

Sorry, Darren Criss, but your reign as the youngest Screen Actors Guild Award winner for limited series/TV movie actor looks to be short-lived. “When They See Us” star and Emmy champ Jharrel Jerome is the frontrunner to take the prize in January, and like Criss just did, he’d destroy the record.
Criss was nine days shy of his 32nd birthday when he prevailed on Jan. 27 for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” becoming the first person in his 30s to win the award and shaving nine years off of the previous record held by Gary Sinise, who was 40 when he won for “Truman” in 1996. Sinise took home a second statuette two years later, for “George Wallace,” and currently occupies two spots in the top five youngest winners.
At 22, Jerome would, obviously, be the first twentysomething to win — just like he was at the Emmys — and knock off another nine years.

Actor Kevin Bacon celebrates his 61st birthday on July 8, 2019. He has worked steadily as an actor and appeared in so many different films that he actually spawned a trivia game called “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” the purpose of which is to see if you can link Bacon to any other actor in less than six other movies.
Bacon started his career at the Circle in the Square Theater School in New York City, which then led to small roles in the immensely popular “Animal House” and in the Neil Simon film “Only When I Laugh.” He then appeared in the sleeper smash “Friday the 13th” where he was one of the early victims in the immensely popular series of films. Fame would come when he joined such other young actors as Steve Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, Ellen Barkin, Mickey Rourke, Tim Daly and Paul Reiser in the bittersweet comedy “Diner” from Barry Levinson.

But at the same time “the music is not scoring contemporary Mexico.” It’s really meant to reflect the main character, who is “a very idealistic, very romantic guy.” So Zarvos created a sound that was closer to “classical Latin American or Spanish music.

Ross Katz has been hired as Head of Production and Development at Sk Global’s Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, the latest exec to join the company that falls under the banner of Sk Global. Katz, a producer on the Oscar-nominated Lost in Translation and In the Bedroom who started his career as a grip on Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, will help the indie film financier-producer unit in Sk Global’s goal to boost production output across both movies and TV.
Earlier this month, Sk Global hired veteran TV executive Charlie Corwin as co-ceo to serve alongside alongside current CEO and president John Penotti, a move aimed at bolstering the company’s small-screen auspices.

Oscar-nominated producer Ross Katz is joining Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, a division of Sk Global, as head of production and development.

Sk Global said the move further expands upon Sk Global’s mission to increase production output across all platforms. Katz will report to Penotti and Corwin.
Katz received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture for “Lost in Translation” and “In the Bedroom.” His producing credits include “Marie Antoinette,” “Story of a Girl,” “The Laramie Project” and “Taking Chance,” for which he won both a WGA and a DGA award. Darren Criss not only completed his awards sweep at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” but he’s now the youngest winner ever in the limited series/TV movie actor category.
Criss, who turns 32 on Feb. 5, is the first person to win the award in his 30s and is nine years younger than the former record holder, Gary Sinise, who was 40 at the time of his victory for “Truman” in 1996. Sinise won a second statuette two years later for “George Wallace” and is twice in the top five youngest champs of all time.

Darren Criss became the second youngest person to win the Best Limited Series/TV Movie Actor Emmy for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” in September. He could be the third youngest to win the Golden Globe equivalent next month. And if he wins the corresponding Screen Actors Guild Award, he’d set a new benchmark as the category’s youngest winner ever.
Criss, who will be nine days shy of his 32nd birthday at the Jan. 27 ceremony, wouldn’t just break the record; he’d smash it. No one has won that category while in their 30s. The youngest champ is Gary Sinise, who was 40 when he prevailed for “Truman” at the second SAG Awards in 1996; he won a second one two years later for “George Wallace,” so he occupies two of the top four youngest spots. Reigning champ Alexander Skarsgard (“Big Little Lies”), at 41 years and 149 days,...

Brian A. Kates‘s main focus when editing the pilot for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” was on “not screwing up what was given to me.” Creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have “a very strong sensibility, sense of style, [and] sense of musicality,” all of which needed to be conveyed in the premiere episode. Kates pulled off the task and scored an Emmy nomination for Best Picture Editing (Single-Camera Comedy) for the Amazon series. It was one of 14 overall bids the freshman show received. Watch our exclusive video interview with Kates above.

Everything this awards season has been going Gary Oldman’s way. He’s already won the Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour.” And he is currently the overwhelming favorite to win the SAG Award. But are we overly confident he’ll win? No Brit has won for playing the famous prime minister. Check out our gallery above of all the actors who’ve brought Churchill to the small and big screens.
Playing Churchill has proven to be a great way to win an Emmy as Albert Finney (“The Gathering Storm,” 2002), Brendan Gleeson (“Into the Storm,” 2009) and John Lithgow (“The Crown,” 2017) all won in a span of 15 years for their interpretations of the iconic figure. But ironically only an American — Lithgow — also won a SAG Award.
For Finney, who had already won an Emmy and Golden Globe, it was a matter of timing.

Year after year, the Golden Globes are always filled with surprises — more than most award shows, even. On the TV side, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s preference for new series and small member body makes for nominations some call exciting, others mind-boggling. This year was a bit more predictable — by Golden Globes standards — but still packed its fair share of twists and turns. From recent winners getting boxed out (Tracee Ellis Ross, “Blackish”) to new faces working their way in (Katherine Langford, “13 Reasons Why”), there’s quite a lot to dig into — so let’s get started on the snubs and surprises:

As the Oscar-nominated producer of "In The Bedroom" and "Lost In Translation," and director of brooding HBO movie "Taking Chance," Ross Katz has come off as a Very Serious Dude on paper. That is, until now. The director has taken a much lighter approach with his feature-length theatrical debut, "Adult Beginners." The story follows a man whose life has hit a crossroads, forcing him to move in with this sister so he can try and get himself together. And it's a charmer, a film with its heart in the right place, featuring comedic chemistry bursting between Nick Kroll, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale (read our review). Moreover, it's always great to see a talent who can balance the serious and the funny with ease. Katz’ previous experience in drama helps “Adult Beginners” resonate on an emotional level, coming off as refreshingly deep in the way it spreads the theme of...

Chicago – Finding the adult button and hitting “on” is becoming more of a challenge as the tech generation morphs into their thirtysomething era. Comedian Nick Kroll (“Kroll Show,” “The League”) ponders this situation in the new film “Adult Beginners,” a primer on growing up and moving on.
Kroll portrays Jake, a entrepreneur whose new tech gadget goes bust. Left with no life and no income, he moves back in with his sister (Rose Byrne) and brother-in-law (Bobby Cannavale). There is a twist – Jake’s nephew Teddy needs a daytime caregiver, and Nick is now available. As he takes on his new duties, he begins to understand that life has different angles, especially when it comes to raising children.

Arrested Development: Katz’s Debut an Affectionate Familial Dramedy
A familiar yet generally charming vehicle that impressively utilizes a pair of actors known mostly from a mainstream comedic realm, Adult Beginners is a low-key dramedy assembled from unpredictable voices. Premiering at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival before making its Us bow at SXSW earlier in 2015, it serves as producer Ross Katz’s feature debut (previously he directed the 2009 television drama Taking Chance, starring Kevin Bacon), with Nick Kroll credited with the story, and a screenplay penned by Liz Flahive (“Nurse Jackie”) and Jeff Cox (Blades of Glory, 2007). Neither as broadly comedic or serious minded as the credits would seem to indicate, the title serves as an estranged sibling reunion film that plays like the lighter, rosy faced cousin of last year’s The Skeleton Twins. Produced by the increasingly philanthropic Duplass Bros., the film displays the sort of vibrant charm...

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are both circling the romantic musical La La Land. We first reported on the project back in June 2014, when Miles Teller and Emma Watson were attached to star, but Miles Teller has moved on and Emma Watson was forced to drop out due to her commitment to Disney's Beauty and the Beast. No deals are finalized for Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone quite yet, but Deadline reports that all parties are trying to make this happen.
The story centers on the budding romance between a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress in modern-day Los Angeles. While both quickly fall for one another, they discover how difficult it is to maintain a relationship along with their artistic endeavors. If both stars sign on, the plan is to move forward and start production sometime this fall. The project would also mark the third movie Ryan Gosling and...

Amidst all the screenings, review writing, and foodie adventures that kept me busy at this year’s South by Southwest festival, I also found some time to sneak a few interviews into my schedule (as you can tell by what I’ve been posting these last few days). I’ve already published my interview with Nick Kroll and Bobby Cannavale on their new film, Adult Beginners, and now I’ve got the second round of talent who were in Austin promoting the film – Rose Byrne and director Ross Katz.
I sat down with Rose and Ross to talk about the phenomenon of Adult Beginners, seeing that people now explore much different paths than our ancestors from past generations. You can read on to hear about what drew both talents to the project, what each person turns to when in need of an escape, and the struggles of filming during one...

A young, hipster entrepreneur (Nick Kroll) crashes and burns on the eve of his company’s big launch. With his entire life in disarray, he leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged pregnant sister (Rose Byrne), brother-in-law (Bobby Cannavale) and three year-old nephew in the suburbs — only to become their manny. Faced with real responsibility, he may finally have to grow up — but not without some bad behavior first.
From director Ross Katz, here’s the new trailer for Adult Beginners.
Katz made his directorial debut with the HBO film “Taking Chance.” Beginning as a film producer, the Adult Beginners director said, “My dream came true when a script called “Brother’s Keeper” (now titled “Adult Beginners”) landed on my desk. Written by the brilliant Liz Flahive and Jeff Cox, with a story originated by comedian and actor Nick Kroll, I was absolutely blown away as I tore through the script.

If you're familiar with Nick Kroll, then you're probably used to his wacky characters that he brings to life on "The Kroll Show," which is in the middle of finishing its third and final season on Comedy Central, or his fantasy football antics on "The League." But in the trailer for the indie Adult Beginners, Kroll shows a less goofy and more serious side in the story of an entrepreneur whose life and career is a mess after a massive failure. In an attempt to figure things out, he moves in with his sister (Rose Byrne) and her husband (Bobby Cannavale) and their little boy. Basically, this looks like something the Duplass Brothers would direct, or even a slightly more accessible Joe Swanberg, and that's definitely a compliment. Watch below! Here's the first trailer for Ross Katz's Adult Beginners from EW: Adult Beginners is directed by Ross Katz (Taking Chance...

The South by Southwest Film Festival is starting up this Friday, and I could not be more excited. This is my fourth year of attending the fest, and each year brings about a couple of films I love. What is also great about SXSW is, unlike Toronto or Cannes, there is plenty of room for discovery. Many films are making their world premieres here from lesser known filmmakers. SXSW also brings together an eclectic assortment of genres for the program, from indie dramas to horror films to science-fiction to you name it. I think going to those aforementioned festivals and just seeing "prestige pictures" continuously could get a bit boring. Sure, SXSW has a higher risk for a terrible movie, but the risk is exciting. Consequently, making a most anticipated list for a festival offering a lot of discoveries seems like a contradiction. But, of course, if you look through the program,...
