Wersching facing off with Bauer
After a lengthy search, General Hospital star Annie Wersching has landed the major new female lead opposite Kiefer Sutherland on the next season of Fox's 24.
Additionally, Bob Gunton is in negotiations to join the show as a regular next season when the action in the real-life thriller moves to Washington.
On "24," from 20th Century Fox TV and studio-based Imagine Television, Wersching will play an FBI agent who is in an adversarial relationship with Jack Bauer (Sutherland).
Gunton, who guest-starred on three episodes of "24" last season as Secretary of Defense Ethan Kanin, will reprise his role, now chief of staff for the new president (Cherry Jones).
In addition to Wersching and Gunton, the upcoming seventh season of "24," which begins production Tuesday, will feature several other major new additions: previously cast Jones, Janeane Garofalo, Colm Feore and Jeffrey Nordling.

Moyer, HBO make 'Blood' pact
Stephen Moyer has landed the male lead opposite Anna Paquin in True Blood, Alan Ball's drama pilot for HBO.
Brook Kerr also has been cast in the project, which Ball wrote and is set to direct and executive produce.
Based on the Southern Vampire book series by Charlaine Harris, True Blood takes place in a world in which vampires can buy Japanese-made synthetic blood. Their integration into a small Louisiana town causes quite a stir, and a love story ensues between Bull Comton (Moyer), a vampire, and Sookie Stackhouse (Paquin), an innocent waitress who can read people's minds.
Kerr will play a beautiful, smart, articulate young woman who takes a job in the bar with Sookie.

Brown in good 'Company'
Sarah Brown is set to co-star in Fox's drama pilot Company Man, Timm Sharp has been tapped to co-star opposite Jason Biggs in CBS' comedy pilot I'm in Hell, Ian Gomez has joined Fox's comedy pilot The Beast, and child actor Nathan Gamble has landed the lead in Fox's untitled Victor Fresco comedy pilot.
Man, from 20th TV and Real Time Prods., centers on a family man (Jason Behr) who winds up recruited by the NSA as a spy within the defense contracting company he works for. Brown will play the man's co-worker.

Lee among helmer recruits
NBC has tapped Spike Lee to direct its drama pilot M.O.N.Y. and Gary Winick to helm another one-hour pilot, the dramedy Lipstick Jungle.
Meanwhile, ABC has signed Peyton Reed to direct Cashmere Mafia, and Fox has recruited P.J. Hogan for Philadelphia General.
Other notable directors who have come aboard pilots include Emmy winner Todd Holland on the CBS comedy Fugly, Emmy winner Jon Cassar on the Fox drama NSA Innocent, Alex Graves on the NBC drama Journeyman and Ian Toynton on Fox's comedic drama Supreme Courtships.
