Anu is an excellent movie set on the post-Naxalite period in Bengal. The film unwraps the failure of a politically revolutionary mind Sugoto (Anu's lover), to accept a very personal and challenging situation. Anu herself and the other prominent character still hope for a better future in accordance to their principle. They choose to carry out their upheld task in some way or the other but Sugoto do not find any substance in these efforts. After their marriage Anu finds Sugoto out of his mind most of the time and so thinks of taking him to some psychiatrist. Accidentally she finds Sugoto's diary where he confesses the reason for his indifference to Anu. Shot in the wonderful location at Disergarh, the soft style of direction is remarkable.
