In Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), the character Melissa Robinson was played by 'Courtney Cox.' Here, Melissa (now known as Melissa Ventura) is played by Ann Cusack.
In the scrapbook of Ventura history the last page shows articles cut from a newspaper. Two of them read: 'DOLPHIN CASE CLOSED: Ventura Finds Snowflake' and 'VENTURA SOLVES THE GREAT FISH CAPER.' These are references to the first Ace Ventura movie, where Ace finds the dolphin mascot Snowflake.
Was originally intended to be a 2008 theatrical release but the backers ultimately did not have enough money. Cartoon Network later bought the rights to air as a made for TV movie in 2009. Soon after, it was released on DVD. There were also plans initially to make more Ace Ventura Jr. movies, but due to low viewership ratings, those plans were cancelled.
When Ace Jr. finds the chest which contains Ace's clothes, there is a picture of Ace Sr. holding Ace Jr. as a baby.
Filming took place at Universal Studios Theme Park in Orlando. Park guests were able to watch various animals used in the film being walked throughout the park during filming.
