Hey, "Dancing With The Stars" fans. Tonight, October 28, 2019, another Live performances/results show did indeed air. All the judges: Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba were able to make it out to serve up their judgments and compliments. The theme for tonight was Halloween. So, we saw lots of costumes and so on and so forth. The performances kicked off with Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson arriving on stage to serve up a Jive routine. They did a “Rocky Horror” jive to “Time Warp.” Afterwards, Len told Kel, “You were rocking, and I was reeling. I was worried about your feet at first, but they turned out to be sharp and clear." Bruno said, "I love how you re-imagined a cult classic and made it original and imaginative and a Halloween treat." Carrie Ann said, "It was incredible, tentative at first, but then it was so tight and...

It is interesting this Oscar weekend to reflect on the life and career of the great Stanley Donen who died today at the age of 94. For those nominated tomorrow night who end up losing, don’t despair and just think of Stanley Donen , the director behind the camera on Singin’ In The Rain, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, On The Town, Damn Yankees, The Pajama Game, It’s Always Fair Weather, Royal Wedding, Indiscreet, Charade , Arabesque, Two For The Road, Funny Face, and so many more. He never got a single Academy Award nomination in his career, not one, yet he made so many movies that are the epitome of style , and virtually (with mentors like Gene Kelly in particular) helped to reinvent the movie musical before passing the baton to Bob Fosse ,Rob Marshall, and Damien Chazelle among others all clearly influenced by him in one way or another.

Dancing With the Stars season 25 has axed its first contestant!

In the season premiere, Corcoran and Motsepe performed a salsa set to "Money Maker" by Ludacris, which earned them a score of 14 out of 30.
This week, the pair performed a tango set to "Whatever Lola Wants" as performed by Sarah Vaughn, and they actually improved, earning a 17. However, the votes had already been cast.

If Bebe Neuwirth’s performance of the gloriously profane “Someone With Whom …” in the Amazon original pilot Browsers reminded you of a certain Broadway classic, well, there’s a reason for that.
We asked Browsers creator David Javerbaum to tell us about that song and the rest of show’s soundtrack, which features music by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and Brendan Milburn (and is available for free at Amazon MP3):
“My Life”
Music by Brendan Milburn, a wonderful composer and friend I have known for almost 20 years. It introduces the four interns both individually and as a group, so it had to be long – 3 1/2 minutes, much longer than the typical song in the show, but necessary to have a real “opening number” feel. The tune Brendan wrote is catchy and irresistible. As for the title, yes I’m aware of the Billy Joel song, but it was...

New York -- Some classic Broadway show tunes will soon be getting the headbanging treatment.
Dee Snider, lead singer of the `80s heavy metal band Twisted Sister, will be headlining the nightclub 54 Below this week, taking on such standards as "Mack the Knife" and "Cabaret."
The appearance Thursday and Friday night builds on Snider's new CD, "Dee Does Broadway," where he tackles a dozen theater standards, including "Music of the Night," "Big Spender" and a blistering rendition of "Mack the Knife."
"I was true to the songs but I found the rock in them, I didn't force the rock into them," says Snider, settling into a cozy banquette dressed in his trademark all black with his long wavy hair in a ponytail.
Snider will cram a 10-piece band onto the stage of Below 54, a new nightclub known more for performances by its Broadway belters like Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie Rene Scott,...

New York -- Composer and lyricist Richard Adler, who won Tony Awards for co-writing songs for such hit Broadway musicals as "The Pajama Game" and "Damn Yankees" and who staged and produced President John F. Kennedy's birthday celebration featuring a breathy Marilyn Monroe, has died. He was 90.
Adler died Thursday at his home in Southampton, N.Y., his widow, Susan A. Ivory, said.
Some of Adler's biggest songs are "You Gotta Have Heart," "Hey, There," "Hernando's Hideaway," "Whatever Lola Wants," "Steam Heat," "Rags to Riches," and "Everybody Loves a Lover."
Adler staged and produced several shows for U.S. presidents, including the unforgettable 1962 extravaganza for Kennedy at Madison Square Garden where Monroe sang "Happy Birthday."
He and Jerry Ross wrote the music and lyrics to "The Pajama Game," a frothy comedy about labor-management relations at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory, which won the best musical Tony in 1955.

When Katharine McPhee was heading towards her number-two finish on the 2006 American Idol season -- and singing "Over the Rainbow" with full-blast passion at least twice -- it was as obvious as her Boston Conservatory past that the incipient diva's true destination was not pop-charts prominence but Broadway. And now it looks as if she's aimed directly there. Ironically, it's not in an actual Great White Way enterprise but as one of the stars in the new NBC television series about a B'way-bound musical.

“Tonight, the auditions end.” These words thundered across the screen at the beginning of Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent,” but they didn’t signal less screen time for the hit series. Following an opening hour in which the final hopefuls tried to join the ranks of those who went on to Vegas, the show gained some two hours of semi-finals, where those already confirmed competed directly with...

If you liked Chicago and the “Lady Marmalade” video from back in the day, but wished they were just more about booty-shaking, well, rejoice! Because there are two new clips from Burlesque, and that’s exactly what they are. Sorry, Bob Fosse, but these breasts won’t jiggle themselves!
Here’s Christina performing “Express,” which sounds like “Feeling Good,” except without the emotional potency, and “The Gospel Truth” from Hercules, which no one remembers except me.
And here’s Cher singing “Welcome to Burlesque,” which sounds sounds so much like “Whatever Lola Wants” I think I might sell my soul...

Whatever Lola Wants
Marrakech International Film Festival
MARRAKECH, Morocco -- In Whatever Lola Wants, director Nabil Ayouch gives audiences what they may want -- a heady mix of Western and Oriental in this liberal dose of feet-tapping music and Egyptian belly dancing. Interestingly choreographed by Morocco and Tony Stevens and set to the lilting music of Krishna Levy, the dance numbers of American actress Laura Ramsey, who plays Lola, are sure crowd-pleasers. But beyond the lavishly mounted dance floors, Whatever Lola Wants fails to engage.
In this modern-day fairy tale, Lola, a mail delivery worker in New York, is passionate about dancing and bored with her job. Her best friend, Yussef (Achmed Akkabi), lifts her spirits by telling her about the legendary Egyptian belly dancer, Ismahan (Carmen Lebbos), living a life of disgrace in Cairo after an extra-marital affair.
When Lola meets a dashing Egyptian millionaire, Zack (Assaad Bouab), she falls in love with him and has an affair so intense that she blows all her savings to follow him to Cairo. But Zack is terribly traditional, not one to marry someone dreaming of a career in dance. An angry and disappointed Lola turns to her first love. Determined to learn only from Ismahan -- who is reclusive and refuses to have anything to do with Lola, let alone teach her belly dancing -- the young American befriends the dancer's little girl and worms her way into the mother's heart. Lola becomes a sensation under Ismahan's guidance, taking Cairo by storm.
Whatever Lola Wants is a breezy Hollywood style movie that falls back on Ramsey's seductive figure and her sensuous belly dancing. Both Ramsey and Lebbos contribute significantly: the first as a bubbly dancer set to get whatever she wants and the second as a woman forced to hide from the world when she gives up dancing.
