Up to this point, DCI Tom Barnaby (John Nettles) has driven a Rover, including the iconic Rover 75 from season 3 through season 8. Sergeant Dan Scott (John Hopkins) drove a Rover 45 during the same period. The cars themselves were provided directly by MG Rover for filming of the show.

The estate agent selling Arthur Leggott's house is shown on the sign as "Beauvoisin", a possible reference to the character of Olive Beauvoisin who appeared in the Midsomer episodes "Death's Shadow" and "Dead Man's Eleven."
Frank Middlemass plays the father of David Burke, however he is only 16 years older than Burke.
