Semiramide is an opera that is not as well known by Rossini(more known are The Barber of Seville and Cinderella for example),but it is very good. The orchestra plays very well and the music really flows. Sets and costumes do look very good,though a bit lacking in oppulence. Musically,all of the singers are in good form ,especially Montserrat Caballe in the title role and Marilyn Horne as Arsace. The rapport between those two is excellent. You can see they are enjoying and their acting is believable,they really can portray their character's emotions..Their singing is as well in very good form. Overall,this 1980 production from Provance is very good and worth your time.8/10.
