In a decade where success was measured in having one's own comedy show, "off the wall" stood out. It was an ensemble of talented, diverse, yet mostly unknown actors/comedians who did very well with the low budget (almost vaudevillian) sets and often experimental writing-style. The "Don't mess with Joe Baker" sketches rivaled anything one could hope for on SNL. I think my favorite sketches of all-time were 1) the drive-through, where the patrons were met by Cynthia Stevensen's most sultry voice, taking their order and 2) where a woman (I believe Louise Duart) justifies leaving her husband and family to hook-up with Bruce Willis to a support group. Some of the cast went on to do other moderate projects, yet I sincerely hope all can look back on this effort with good memories and a feeling of pride and success in their work. MY one wish would be that this made it to syndication, or at the very least DVD.
