I cannot remember the name of the character she played, but I clearly remember that an actress called Marie Burke, who was probably over 50 at the time, played one of the Jewish roles in this series. This could be verified from a file of Radio Times, to which I do not have access at present. (If they have it in Liverpool Reference Library I shall check it on my next visit and report back) This means that the cast list is incomplete. I clearly remember the character Mr Emmanuel, played by Carl Jaffe. It would be worth re-screening this, if a copy of it survives, but this is doubtful. My outstanding memory of it was when a gentile character baked a cake for one of the Jewish women, brought it over the street, and said how it had been made with only good ingredients, including lard. The Jewish lady told a neighbour about this, assuming a disgusted face as she said, "She baked me a cake, mit lard!"
