Back in 2019, it was announced that Riverdale‘s Madelaine Petsch had signed on to star in a horror comedy called Clare at 16, which was going to be written and directed by Mark Pavia, the filmmaker behind the 1997 Stephen King adaptation The Night Flier, and based on a novel by Don Roff. That iteration of the project didn’t make it into production, and in 2022 Bella Thorne (Infamous) not only signed on to star in the title role of what was now being called Saint Clare, but she also brought Dying to Play (a.k.a. Braid) director Mitzi Peirone on board to write and direct the film. Saint Clare just had its premiere at the Taormina Film Festival, and during the event Thorne revealed to Deadline that she helped edit the serial killer movie.

Thirty-two years later, Sharon Stone put her own spin on the infamous scene, which she felt she was tricked into filming and left her angry.
The moment in question is, of course, the interrogation scene in Basic Instinct in which Stone’s character uncrosses her legs and reveals that she is not wearing underwear. Stone has said, “I’d been told, ‘We can’t see anything—I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on.’” But when she saw the film, that was not the case.
Basic Instinct director Paul Verhoeven, for his part, denied tricking the actress.
Stone has said the scene impacted her career negatively, and that she even lost custody of her child in 2004 because of assumptions created by her brief nudity in the film.
Stone’s thoughts about the scene seem to have mellowed over the years,...

Ghost of Tsushima 2 is on the top of the wish list of the gaming community after the success of the first game back in 2020. The game featured stunning visuals and complex combat systems that challenged the players to adapt and resort to other bloodier methods to win a fight.
The developers have accomplished great feats with the hardware limitations of the PlayStation 4 with the Infamous games but made it look ahead of their time. New gameplay footage of a canceled project has surfaced and the gaming community hopes it could see the light of day.

If there is one thing the gaming community can put their money on, it’s that Nintendo will go to the ends of the earth to protect its IP. Not just Nintendo, but any company, would do the same for a revenue-generating title that is being emulated for free.
Now, this would make sense for titles that are ongoing projects. Emulation would not only slow down sales of the game for the company but could also severely affect the sales of their hardware. But what if the games are so old that they are not even being manufactured anymore? Well, three companies deem them to be off-limits as well!
Nintendo, Sega, and Sony Issue Takedown Notice for Vimm’s Lair Nintendo and other companies are ensuring some games are lost to time.
Go into any forum discussing emulation or game ROMs, and you are bound to see Vimm’s Lair mentioned at least once.

Fans of the AppleTV+ series Hijack have been forced to endure a long wait for the second season of the popular thriller.
The bad news is that they'll need to wait at least a few more months, as filming for Hijack Season 2 is currently underway in the UK.
The good news is that star Idris Elba will be joined by a top-tier supporting cast when the show eventually makes its way back to our screens.
Deadline reported today that three very talented stars are currently on set in London.
First off is Toby Jones, a British actor, who might he might be best known for his work in American period pieces, such as Frost/Nixon, My Week With Marilyn, and Infamous (in which he memorably portrayed Truman Capote).
While he's gained a reputation as an esteemed "actor's actor," Jones is no stranger to the world of action and green screens.

Much like our social media-driven news cycle today which is fixated on cancelation and schadenfreude, there arguably was a judge, jury and executioner style in Truman Capote’s published Esquire pieces, read “La Côte Basque 1965″ about New York City female elites. Ryan Murphy and Jon Robin Baitz’s latest FX limited series Feud: Capote vs. Swans dives into Capote’s deconstruction and takedown of the fancy ladies he supped and partied with.
How in God’s name would Capote operate in a social media world?
We kick around that notion today with the series’ stars Tom Hollander who plays the tender, though nitpicky and sassy Capote, and Naomi Watts who plays the author’s best friend, though a betrayed one.
Hollander acknowledges that there remains today, like decades ago “a ghoulish fascination about the glamor and the compromises” of high society women, “there’s sort of a style porn that...

The community anticipated an announcement sometime soon and the developers are actively working on something as soon as the first game launched years ago. It is time for the developers to share what they are working on in an upcoming event like Summer Game Fest.

Ghost of Tsushima 2 is on top of every gamer’s wish list. Ever since the original game was released on the tail end of the PlayStation 4 life cycle, the gaming community is already asking for a follow-up and the game developers are working on something that could likely be a sequel.
It takes years to finish a video game and Sucker Punch Productions is taking all the time they need and are not rushing to release something that isn’t ready. Four years have passed since the launch of the original game and it seems like enough time for them to share something new.

PlayStation has given its fans some very exciting games over the years. But their first-party studios are mostly known for developing some very story-heavy games. These titles would feature a linear progression system, which does not give fans much freedom in exploration. But the developer of Ghost of Tsushima changed this.
A truly open-world game where players can go anywhere and do anything. It took some ideas from this developer’s previously released Infamous series of games. The idea of walking two paths was described in this game as the path of a ghost or a samurai. And now, years after this game’s launch, some suggest that they can use this idea to take this franchise in a whole new direction.

Killzone, the now-dead first-person shooter franchise and arguably PlayStation’s flagship shooter title, was one of the most popular shooter games out there. The first was released back in 2004, and the last title came in 2013, but players have constantly been clamoring for a remake.

In 2006, a movie came out starring Daniel Craig, Sandra Bullock, Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, Isabella Rossellini, Peter Bogdanovich, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Toby Jones. That’s a murderer’s row of talent bringing to life writer/director Douglas McGrath’s script — and very few people paid it much mind. But “Infamous” was a victim of bad timing, not bad filmmaking.
One can’t blame audiences for greeting it with a collective shrug. McGrath’s movie tackled the exact same topic as the previous year’s “Capote” (the movie that earned Philip Seymour Hoffman his first and only Oscar): Truman Capote’s time spent researching and writing his true-crime classic “In Cold Blood.” After the buzzy release of “Capote” and months spent in awards season campaigning mode, no one was ready to revisit the subject.

Plot: Acclaimed writer Truman Capote surrounded himself with a coterie of society’s most elite women – rich, glamorous socialites who defined a bygone era of high society New York – whom he nicknamed “the swans.” Enchanted and captivated by these doyennes, Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets. When an excerpt from the book, Answered Prayers, Capote’s planned magnum opus, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans, banished him from the high society he so loved and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.

Truman Capote is America’s Princess Diana. There, someone had to say it. In both instances, we remain obsessed not with the good work done but with the scandal-plagued, tragedy-tinted endings to two beloved figures. More than 40 years after Captote’s death by slow suicide (though officially it was liver failure), pop culture can’t get enough of his final years. Almost 20 years after the back-to-back film looks at his life, Jon Robin Baitz (“Brothers and Sisters”) brings Capote to TV with the second season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series “Feud,” “Capote vs. The Swans.”
While the two movies about Capote’s life focused on the research and writing of his masterpiece “In Cold Blood,” “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” zeroes in on the work he published in the aftermath of that global success. Notably, a chapter from his work-in-progress “Answered Prayers” in which the novel’s narrator, P.B. Jones,...

Taylor Swift cracked herself up while performing a song inspired by her long-running feud with Kanye West.
During her acoustic set at Saturday night’s Eras Tour show at Seattle’s Lumen Field, Swift accompanied herself on guitar to perform “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”.
The track, from her 2017 Reputation album, is rumoured to be her response to West’s 2016 song “Famous”, in which he rapped, “I made that b***h famous,” and the back-and-forth controversy that followed.
One line in particular is seemingly aimed directly at West: “It was so nice being friends again / where I was giving you a second chance / but you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand.”

As she sang, another line in the song proved to be too much for her.

Audiences might bemoan the lack of original thinking at the movies these days — all those sequels, remakes, and reboots! — but even new ideas can feel suddenly played out when faced with the horrifying specter of parallel thinking. Consider everything from “Deep Impact” and “Armageddon” to “Dante’s Peak” and “Volcano,” “Capote” and “Infamous” to “No Strings Attached” and “Friends with Benefits,” and those are just contemporary examples of the phenomenon. If you’ve got an idea for a movie — hopefully, a good one to boot — chances are, someone else has it, too. And they may even have it at the exact same time.
Such is the case with Kirk DeMicco and Faryn Pearl’s “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken,” which arrives on the heels (fins? paws?) of some very similar other animated adventures, like Pixar’s superior “Turning Red” and the studio’s less thrilling entry “Luca,” both of which use monstrous...

It took about ten minutes for me to realize that Pursuit was going to be an epic shitshow. That’s how long it takes to get to the first shootout. Between the overuse of slow motion, blood that looks like red paint and a pile of cash that explodes into the air for no apparent reason it’s more laughable than funny.
As it turns out Rick Calloway has just shot up an undercover police operation. Why? Because the same dealers the police were targeting apparently were involved in the disappearance of his wife. So, being an expert hacker he disabled the police cameras and went in shooting. After a chase through Little Rock pretending to be the Big Apple in which...

Spider-Man isn’t exactly the first character that comes to mind when one thinks of comic-book horror, but the iconic wall-crawler has actually dealt with his fair share of terror since his debut back in 1962. From his tragic part in the Marvel Zombies crossover to being forced to battle against monstrous villains like Carnage and The Lizard, there’s no shortage of horror-inspired stories starring our favorite web-head.
That’s why it makes sense that one of the most famous Spider-Man yarns centers around an extraterrestrial parasite that feeds off of aggression, with the aptly named “Alien Costume Saga” touching on elements of body horror and introducing a new monstrous antagonist in the form of Venom (who would later be rebranded as an anti-hero due to the character’s overwhelming popularity). 35 years later, this story is still influencing Spider-Man adaptations, with the most recent example being Insomniac’s upcoming Spider-Man 2,...

Even in the endlessly eccentric annals of independent animation — where the Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine” took flight and Ralph Bakshi tripped out amid jive-talking rabbits and X-rated cats — “Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles” is an oddity: a feature-length cartoon about the making of a 27-minute documentary. Frankly, it was a brilliant choice on the part of director Salvador Simo to use such an expressionistic medium to examine how surrealist filmmaker Luis Buñuel bent reality to his own ends in the making of 1933 documentary “Las Hurdes” (aka “Land Without Bread”).
Of course, animation later proved fertile ground for Buñuel’s friend — and fellow surrealist — Salvador Dalí (who designed “Destino” for Disney), seeing as the hand-drawn form is uniquely suited to what André Breton described as the surrealists’ aim: “to resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality into an absolute reality, a super-reality.” As many have observed about the medium,...

Sigourney Weaver celebrates her 69th birthday on October 8, 2018. The three-time Oscar nominee has proven herself a capable leading lady in a variety of genres, including science fiction, fantasy, comedy, horror, and drama. In honor of her birthday, let’s take a look back at 15 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Weaver made her film debut with a walk-on role as Woody Allen‘s girlfriend in “Annie Hall” (1977). Her breakthrough came just two years later for Ridley Scott‘s landmark sci-fi thriller “Alien” (1979). As Ripley, the lone survivor aboard a spacecraft besieged by a snarling, ferocious extra-terrestrial, Weaver broke down barriers for female action stars and helped launch a franchise that led to three sequels: James Cameron‘s “Aliens” (1986), David Fincher‘s “Alien 3” (1992), and Jean-Pierre Jeunet‘s “Alien: Resurrection” (1997).
“Aliens” brought Weaver her first Oscar nomination as Best Actress, a rarity for the genre. Not to be typecast, she...

Toby Jones is on this year’s Emmy ballot for his BAFTA-winning performance in the low-key comedy “Detectorists” as a would-be treasure hunter. Thanks to Acorn TV, the third and final season of this hit Britcom is eligible for Emmy consideration. The Us-based streaming service co-produced the last six episodes of this delightful slice-of-life created by “The Office” star Mackenzie Crook. He wrote and directed every episode and stars as the archaeologist Andy who spends his free time with his pal Lance (Toby Jones) in search of buried treasure.
Jones was delighted to have won his first BAFTA for a show so close to his heart. “This is just the most wonderful, chilled out job ever,” he readily admitted. And he loves that his career takes him from this intimate television project to the likes of the upcoming “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” in which he has a key role.

[Note: Some light spoilers for “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” below.]
Yes, the dinosaurs are back. So are human leads Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen (Chris Pratt). Even the battered island of Isla Nubar is still standing (sort of). But as J.A. Bayona’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” unfolds, the second film in the second trilogy about dinos run amok adds in a slew of new supporting characters, all the better to populate a fast-expanding franchise.
But these “Jurassic” newbies aren’t a bunch of random additions to the genetically modified series, but a compelling batch of established and rising stars, amounting to what just might be the most overqualified supporting cast of any of this summer’s blockbusters. When James Cromwell is billed sixth in a cast, you’ve got some deep talent. Add Ted Levine disappearing into a nutty turn as an exceedingly stupid mercenary, and you know there’s been some careful...

The opening segment of Sucker Punch’s new adventure “Ghost of Tsushima” shows Jin Sakai, the games protagonist, slowly walking up a hill as a Mongol invasion drives the small Japanese island into disarray. But before we had any time to dissect the magnitude of the situation Jin reaches the top of the hill and is greeted with a view of the horizon that’s both beautiful and unsettling. The gorgeous landscape is marred by fires, destruction, and the sounds of war.
“We built this entire segment around this view,” Sucker Punch’s Nate Fox tells Variety. “It’s meant to illustrate how huge this world we’re creating is, we want players to got lost in our version of feudal Japan. People will be able to explore the island of Tsushima through their own volition.”
