Michael and David Uslan, the father and son producing team with credits that include “The Dark Knight” and “Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch” have struck a cluster of deals that makes them a two-way conduit for TV formats between Hollywood and Asia.
U2K, a company that includes the Uslans and Jon Karas, has recently struck deals with top rights owners in China, India and South Korea to bring their content to Western audiences.
And, with the purpose of taking content from West to East, U2K has struck a first-look deal with Renegade 83. The Sherman Oaks-based company is one of the world’s top unscripted TV producers, and has credits including “Naked and Afraid,” “Smash Cuts,” and “Gone Country.” The company was recently acquired by eOne Entertainment.
The Uslans and Rengade 83 are both represented by William Morris Endeavor. And Wme brokered the first-look agreement.

Duff McKagan has announced plans to release a solo album in 2019, an LP inspired in part by the bassist’s journeys while touring with the reunited Guns N’ Roses. The album, produced by Shooter Jennings, is a “musical follow-up” to McKagan’s 2015 book How to Be a Man (and Other Illusions).
“I wrote a couple of articles about historical places I passed through on this last tour and people kept asking if that was going to be the focus of my next book,” says McKagan. “But an unseen and irrepressible...

Malmo, Sweden — An ethno-inspired flute and drum tune from Denmark is the bookmakers' favorite to win this year's Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday, which also features a bizarre opera pop number from Romania and an Armenian rock song written by the guitarist of Black Sabbath.
Yes, it's that time of the year again.
The televised pan-European extravaganza, known for its kitschy shows, bad taste and bizarre offerings, is still expected to be seen by about 125 million television viewers worldwide.
This year's contest is being hosted in Malmo, southern Sweden, following the victory of the Nordic country's contestant Loreen with "Euphoria" last year.
According to bookmakers, the hippie-chic Emmelie De Forest of Denmark is the favorite to win, driving the song "Only Teardrops" with her deep, Shakira-like voice. Her main challenge comes from the clean-cut techno pop tune "I Feed You My Love" by Norway's Margaret Berger, who rose to fame...

Whoa, is that you, Demi Lovato?! The 19-year-old starlet was barely recognizable when she showed off a daring new hairstyle on Twitter yesterday. Sporting a shoulder-length brunette bob and blunt bangs to go with a sexy, midriff-baring spaghetti-strap tank top and layers of necklaces, Demi asked her fans, "Hey guys...like my new look?" Hours later, the "Believe in Me" singer confirmed to anyone who thought this dramatic new 'do was the real deal, "It's just a wig that I got today!! Hehe...Don't freak." Demi's been experimenting with her tresses a lot recently. In early November, the formerly brunette beauty debuted a gorgeous new auburn hue, and just a few...

His obsessive enthusiasm has steered gangster sagas, Norse bloodbaths and even Miss Marple. Now Nicolas Winding Refn is back behind the wheel for his new film Drive
There are three remarkable things about Marple: Nemesis, a 2008 ITV outing for Agatha Christie's elderly detective. For a start, it's the only time she's handed a mission, rather than just stumbling across a body and spontaneously sleuthing. It took more liberties with the original novel than usual – plots were dropped, motives skewed, two characters conflated to make a serial-killing lesbian nun. And, finally, it was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, then best known for the Pusher trilogy: a Danish gangster saga, all grimy machismo and intestines down the sink.
"I was broke as hell," he explains, chewing popcorn in a back room at the O2 centre in London. "I'd gone bankrupt and owed my bank £1m. I paid that back by making...

Relatively hot on the heels of Sloan's exhaustive (and somewhat exhausting) 30-song epic Never Hear The End Of It comes a leaner but no less comprehensive survey of power-pop sounds past and slightly less past, Parallel Play. "If you believe that everybody needs to shake it loose, then everyone will rock and everybody will roll," sings guitarist Patrick Pentland on the opening track, "Believe In Me," throwing down the gauntlet for fun, fun, fun over the next 37 minutes. As always, Sloan owns the '60s and '70s, crafting impeccable bop-around melodies and chipper harmonies in the form of sweeping psychedelic ballads, soft-rock confessionals, and arena-ready ragers. Like its predecessor, Parallel Play flows effortlessly from one song to the next like one big sugar-fueled pop suite. It's a dazzling display of record-collection rock by the band's four-headed songwriting team, even if some tunes in the album's second half get...
