It’s been an eventful summer for Disney, and not under ideal circumstances. After his wife’s death because of food allergies at a Disney park, a man struggled to pursue legal action against the company due to his Disney+ subscription. Then, “X-Men: 97” showrunner Beau DeMayo shared a series of posts elaborating on his termination, and his attorneys told IndieWire that he’s preparing to sue.
The headlines have people considering whether to keep subscribing this month — but if you’re a parent, there’s no real replacement. In 1985 Whitney Houston took the music world by storm with her record-setting self-titled debut album. The diamond-certified release included three Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers: “Saving All My Love For You,” “How Will I Know” and “Greatest Love of All.” Two years later, with a sophomore disc simply titled “Whitney,” she became the first woman to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. Four more number ones – “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “So Emotional” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” made her the first artist (and only to this day) to have seven consecutive number one singles.
The legendary diva’s musical success continued through “I’m Your Baby Tonight” in 1990, with two more number one singles including the title track and “All the Man That I Need,” but it was her foray into film that shot Houston’s career into another stratosphere.

Exclusive: Raven-Symoné is extending her relationship with Disney, which she has called home for many years, with a new multi-year overall deal at Disney Branded Television. Under the pact, she will produce, direct, and develop projects across linear and streaming, with a focus on multi-cam comedies.
First off, she will executive produce and direct sitcom Alice in the Palace, which has received a pilot order. It is an Alice-centered spinoff from Raven-Symoné’s Disney Channel multi-camera comedy series Raven’s Home, which will not return for a seventh season. Its most recent Season 6 concluded its run in September 2023.
The deal with Raven-Symoné, which also includes continued acting and hosting opportunities, and the order for Alice in the Palace fits into Disney Branded Television’s strategy of building a new Disney Channel lineup of multi-camera sitcoms. In doing that, the company’s executive team has been leaning into classic Disney Channel IP.

Chris Pine shares his thoughts after a casting director for The O.C. said he lost out on a role due to his acne.
In 2023’s Welcome to the O.C.: The Oral History, casting director Patrick Rush talked about Pine reading for Ryan Atwood, which eventually went to Ben McKenzie.
“I hate saying this, but it’s the truth: Chris Pine was at the age where he was experiencing really bad skin problems. And it was at that point where it looked insurmountable,” Rush said in the book via the Av Club. “And as a kid who grew up with horrible skin, it just broke my heart.”
Pine appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast where he was asked about Rush’s comments and said, “It’s a part of my life. The man didn’t have to talk about it. I mean, it’s his prerogative.”

In a preview from his conversation with Willie Geist for Sunday Today, Chris Pine looked back at how much his role as Anne Hathaway’s love interest in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement impacted his career.
Pine recalled the exact moment he got the life-changing call saying he had been cast as Nicholas Devereaux. He was on the freeway, driving his 1972 BMW that he owned since he was 16, at a time in his life when he had only booked small TV roles.
“I got a call from my agent saying I booked the job, and I pulled over to the side of the freeway, and they said, ‘You’re getting paid $65,000,'” said the actor. “It was like they had just told me I’d make $15 million.”
Pine shared that getting the call was “absolutely earth-shattering” as he was severely struggling financially. “I had an overdraft on my bank account.

Speaking to V Magazine, Anne Hathaway has dropped a hint that more Princess Diaries may be coming. “We’re in a good place,” is all she will divulge.
“That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place,” she said.
Hathaway played Mia Thermopolis in the first Princess Diaries movie in 2001, reprising the role for 2004’s The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.
She starred alongside Julie Andrews, who played her grandmother Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the original movie and its sequel.
Andrews spoke to Today.com last month about a possible third Princess Diaries movie, and seemed to shoot down the idea. “It’s quite a long time now since the two Diaries were done, and I’m not sure, but sometimes it’s best to leave a good thing alone. I don’t like it when people milk and milk and milk the subject,...

Pine has appeared in many fan-favorite movies, from The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement to Wonder Woman. Charming and self-deprecating, Pine never hesitates to make a joke at his own expense.
Notably, in a recent video interview with Esquire, Pine joked about the headline-making hairstyle that he rocked during the press tour for Don’t Worry Darling — even admitting that he finally cut his hair after one particular person told him that he looked like Rachel from Friends.

Chris Pine is not who you think he is. Sure, he’s the handsome, blue-eyed actor famous for roles combining action, intensity, and charm in Star Trek, Wonder Woman, and Into the Woods. But beneath the movie star is a man who grew up with deep insecurities. He loves his job and talking cinema but doesn’t enjoy talking about himself and would rather be drinking coffee and reading than being interviewed.
It is Valentine’s Day morning when we speak via Zoom, just a few days shy of the 20th anniversary of the E.R. episode “A Thousand Cranes,” Pine’s 2003 onscreen debut where he played a guy who got drunk—at a blow-out Valentine’s party. Before Seinfeld, Jason Alexander had another major claim to fame. He was in the blockbuster movie Pretty Woman. Alexander played Richard Gere’s lawyer. If you didn’t get that he’s sleazy by this point in the movie, he famously slaps Julia Roberts. When it came to the Seinfeld audition, Alexander thought he would lose the role of George Costanza to another Pretty Woman star.

Like Batman or Superman, Jack Ryan is a character that has seen several on-screen iterations played by a variety of actors. Unlike these superhero figures though, Jack Ryan isn’t rich and doesn’t have powers of any kind – really he’s just a regular dude. Created by prolific writer Tom Clancy, Jack Ryan is a man from a middle-class background who uses his military experience and education in history and economics to save the U.S. from both foreign and domestic adversaries.
But even though he doesn’t appear to be much more than a normal guy, that’s what makes him more relatable than other action heroes. Jack Ryan has been able to survive through so many film and TV adaptations because he is able to handle such exceptional situations with his intelligence and determination. He’s the epitome of the “American Dream,” and that really resonates with people.

Hollywood star Julie Andrews, who played Clarisse Renaldi, the Queen regent of Genovia in ‘The Princess Diaries 3’, said that her participation in the new film might not happen. “I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible,” Andrews told Access Hollywood.
“It was talked about very shortly after (the second sequel) came out, but it’s now how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run,” reports ‘Deadline’.
The Princess Diaries originally came out in 2001 with Garry Marshall directing Andrews and Anne Hathway. The coming-of-age comedy was based on the popular Meg Cabot novel series with Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway, at the center of the story.

Pack your bags because we're returning to Genovia! The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that a third movie in the "Princess Diaries" film series is currently in the works. While the story and cast have not been confirmed, the script is currently being written by Aadrita Mukerji, who has written for television shows such as "Supergirl" and "Reacher." This new installment is also expected to be produced by Debra Martin Chase, who produced the first two movies.
As previously stated, the cast for this new "Princess Diaries" film has not been announced, which means that Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews haven't been confirmed as of yet. However, sources close to the project told THR that Disney hopes to have at least Hathaway on board to reprise her role as Crown Princess Mia Thermopolis. This isn't entirely out of the question, as the actress was previously in talks with director Garry Marshall for a franchise return.

The Bridgerton producer is also looking at gaming and virtual reality content.
Netflix and producer Shonda Rhimes are expanding their deal to cover feature films and what they described as “potential gaming and virtual reality content.”
The streamer’s original 2017 deal with Rhimes, her company Shondaland and her producing partner Betsy Beers covered series and other content and has resulted in global streaming hit Bridgerton.
The extended deal allows Netflix and Rhimes to also “exclusively produce, stream and distribute feature films,” according to a statement. And it adds live events and experiences to the branding and merchandise element of the existing deal.

As the eagle-eyed viewer notes, there's a scene in the 2004 sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement in which Mia Thermopolis (played by Anne Hathaway) gives a royal wave and loses her bracelet. Well, as the social media sleuth explains, there's a very similar scene in Pretty Woman. At one point in the 1990 movie, Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts)...

“The Masked Singer” finale on May 20 will conclude with the crowning of the season 3 winner. Only three of the 18 celebrities in the singing competition remain in contention. They are disguised as the Frog, Night Angel and Turtle. Of this talented trio, the best singer is the man hiding inside the Turtle costume.
We’ve been impressed by Turtle since the first episode, which aired right after the Super Bowl. Since then he has made a lucky seven appearances on the show and is the last contestant from Group A in the hunt for the Golden Mask. We have rewatched all of his performances as well as the clues videos and interviews that he gave to host Nick Cannon. We think that the Turtle is actor and singer Jesse McCartney. Disagree? Take a minute to review our analysis and see how it all fits with Jesse’s life story.

Julie Andrews didn’t know Princess Diaries 3 was in the works? Shut up!
The 84-year-old actress appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Thursday, where she discussed her thoughts on playing Queen Clarisse Renaldi, Anne Hathaway‘s character’s grandmother, for the third time.
After a fan asked the actress if she had any updates since Hathaway’s announcement of a completed Princess Diaries 3 script, Andrews was surprised to hear one even existed.
“I haven’t heard [there’s a script finished]. There’s been talk about [a third movie] for quite a while,” she responded, laughing that she was unaware of the situation.
“I think [Hathaway’s] having a second child.

Oscar-winning actress and singer Julie Andrews will be honored by the Venice Film Festival with its Golden Lion award for lifetime achievement.
Best known for her iconic roles in “Mary Poppins” and “The Sound of Music,” Andrews has starred in more than 40 movies, including a memorable performance as Victoria Grant and Count Victor Grezhinski in “Victor Victoria” (1982), which was directed by her late husband, Blake Edwards. “This Golden Lion is the well-deserved recognition of an extraordinary career which has admirably parsed popular success with artistic ambition, without ever bowing to facile compromises,” Alberto Barbera, the Venice Film Festival’s artistic director, said in a statement.
“I am so honored to have been selected as this year’s recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement,” Andrews said, thanking the festival’s parent organization, the Venice Biennale, “for this acknowledgment of my work.
