Jimmy Kimmel is finally hosting “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” the way it’s supposed to be done — in front of a studio audience. The landmark game show returns with an all-celeb edition for its 25th anniversary on Wednesday night, and although this is the third season he’s been in the chair that Regis Philbin made famous, this is the first time fans have finally been allowed back in the studio.
“I really wanted to do it the proper way in front of people because you like to hear people laugh at your jokes,” Kimmel says. “Also, the drama that goes along with a couple of hundred people watching the action happen is an important part of the show. I mean, doing the show in front of nobody is no fun.”
But that’s what Kimmel had to do in March 2020 when he first came on to host the primetime series’ revival.

Jeremy Clarkson’s “awful” comments about Meghan Markle have had “no washover onto the ITV brand,” according to CEO Carolyn McCall.
Addressing the now-disgraced Sun column from the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? host this morning, McCall said she believed her team had “handled it well.”
Clarkson is contractually committed to one further series of ITV format Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, a show he has been hosting for the past five years, and ITV is very likely to drop him after filming has ended, although McCall stressed that “neither Who Wants to be a Millionaire? or Jeremy Clarkson have been cancelled by ITV.”
“We’ve handled it well and been very clear,” she added. “We have said his comments were awful and I don’t think there has been any washover onto our brand.”

Jeremy Clarkson has denied being “sacked” by ITV as the presenter of its flagship quiz show, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?.
On Wednesday (1 March), ITV boss Carolyn McCall confirmed that the show’s forthcoming season, which is currently in production, will be Clarkson’s last.
The news came after Clarkson’s recent controversy surrounding a column he wrote about Meghan Markle. The former Top Gear host wrote that he hated the Duchess of Sussex on a “cellular level” in his piece for The Sun.
However, on Wednesday evening, Clarkson denied that he had been “sacked” from the show.
“So many kind messages about today’s reports,” he tweeted. “But relax. [Partner] Lisa and I have not split up and I have not been sacked as host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”

Jeremy Clarkson won’t be returning for “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” after the latest season following the controversy surrounding his comments about Meghan Markle.
In December, Clarkson wrote a column for The Sun stating that he hated Meghan “on a cellular level” and dreamed of her parading naked through British towns “while the crowds chant ‘Shame!’ and threw lumps of excrement at her.”
Carolyn McCall, who has been the chief executive of ITV since 2018, has since confirmed Clarkson won’t be returning to “Millionaire”.
She insisted of the column in an interview with Variety, “We don’t endorse that in any way,” adding: “There’s no place for that on ITV.”
Despite Clarkson returning for the latest season, which just wrapped a few weeks ago, McCall added, “We’re contracted to this one.

The next series of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? will be Jeremy Clarkson’s last, it has been confirmed, following backlash to the columnist’s words on Meghan Markle.
Last year, Clarkson’s future on the show was called into question after reaction to a column he wrote in The Sun where the former Top Gear host said he hated the Duchess of Sussex on a “cellular level”.
Clarkson apologised and later said that he had reached out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over the article. However, Harry and Meghan issued their own statement claiming that Clarkson had only apologised to Harry.
At the time, ITV said that Clarkson would remain as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, a role he took on in 2018, “for the moment”.
Production is currently underway on the series, but it has now been announced that the forthcoming series will be his last.

The next season of Jeremy Clarkson’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” on ITV will be its last on the British broadcaster, with “no future commitments” in the works.
ITV boss Carolyn McCall tells Variety that the forthcoming season of the game show, which is currently in production, will be Clarkson’s final foray as host. The “Grand Tour” presenter has been at the center of a media firestorm over his December column in British tabloid The Sun. In the piece, which is currently being investigated by British media regulator Ipso, Clarkson said the Duchess of Sussex should be forced to parade the streets naked with “lumps of excrement thrown at her.”
“We have a contract. We’re contracted to this [season], so we will do that,” said McCall. “And then we have no future commitments. And we haven’t made any statements about that.”

The UK’s newspaper watchdog has launched a formal investigation into Jeremy Clarkson’s now-disgraced column about Meghan Markle.
The confirmation comes weeks after the column in Rupert Murdoch’s Sun newspaper became the most complained about UK article of all time with more than 25,000 complaints.
The UK’s Independent Press Standards Organisation said in a statement that it was acting following complaints in particular from The Fawcett Society and The Wilde Foundation over breaches of accuracy, harassment and discrimination.”
The outcome of the investigation will be made public once it has concluded.
In the former Top Gear host’s much-maligned column, Clarkson wrote that he “dreams of the day when [Markle] is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her,” in a callback to a Game of Thrones scene.
The fallout was swift and severe.

A contestant on the latest instalment of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? accidentally revealed a little-known behind-the-scenes secret.
Last weekend’s episode of the hit ITV quiz show featured a contestant called Maria King.
The episode finished partway through Maria’s run of questions, with the end being signalled by a loud sound effect.
As Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? viewers no doubt are aware, the show’s format allows Maria to resume her quiz at the beginning of the next episode.
When the klaxon sounded, host Jeremy Clarkson asked the contestant: “Do you know what that means?”
To which Maria unexpectedly replied: “I’ll have to go and get changed.”
She then hurriedly added: “I’m not supposed to say that, am I?”
Rather than film each episode separately, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in fact shoots multiple episodes at once.

The family of Bill Turnbull paid tribute to him as they announced his death yesterday, saying the BBC and Classic FM presenter made them laugh every day and that they were “immensely proud” of him.
The 66-year-old, who co-hosted Breakfast for 15 years, died at home in Suffolk almost five years after being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.
A special programme will be shown in his honour on Friday, the BBC said.
“The last week of his life was very special: the whole family was with him and we shared some wonderful moments,” wife Sarah McCombie said in a statement read out on air by Naga Munchetty.
“Even though he was often in pain, Bill was dignified and brave throughout, and he was his usual determined self right to the very end.
“Billy made us laugh every day and we are immensely proud of him – he was the heart of our family.

The contestant has won a significant amount of money answering trivia questions, despite getting a sizable percentage (in some cases, most) of those questions wrong, simply by being able to convince a panel of judges that their answer was right. After the contestant wins, say, 25,000, Mandel will comment on the absurdity of the situation: “You just won 25,000 by knowing absolutely nothing.

Stan & Ollie director Jon S. Baird is behind Stonehouse from The Dig writer John Preston, in which Succession star Macfadyen will play John Stonehouse and Keeley Hawes his wife Barbara.
Stonehouse was a high-flying politician in the Labour Party in the 1970s but was involved in an extramarital affair, had financial problems and had acted as a spy for the Czech Secret Service, which took its toll and led to him faking his death and fleeing to Australia. He was eventually found and brought back to England by British detectives.
The drama represents a return to ITV for Macfadyen who also starred in Quiz as a former soldier accused of cheating on popular ITV gameshow Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.

Not only did Joe Millionaire forever transform the landscape of reality television when it first premiered nearly 20 years ago, but the dating competition's leading man, Evan Marriott, saw some dramatic changes as well since appearing on the Fox series. Recently, the 47-year-old Virginia native—who was marketed as a millionaire looking for love, but was later revealed to be a construction worker with an annual income of $19,000—was photographed looking almost unrecognizable from his once clean-shaven self. Instead of the well-coiffed 'do that captured America's attention, Evan stepped out in a long ponytail and bushy beard. For the outing, he kept...

Sony Pictures Television-owned independent production outfit Stellify Media, have signed a deal that will see the format of their Netflix series “Flinch” adapted for Russia.
The format is distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
The original show was set on a remote farm in the hills of Ireland where contestants gathered to test their nerve against three fiendish games. If they flinched, there were hilariously painful consequences both for them, and for the hosts, who had each chosen a player to represent them in the games. The original 10-episode series was hosted by comedians Desiree Burch, Lloyd Griffiths and Seann Walsh and debuted on Netflix in 2019. A second season has not been greenlit yet.

As far as Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment president Craig Erwich is concerned, Jimmy Kimmel can keep his late-night slot until the end of time. Or at least for “as many seasons as he wants to be on the air.”
“Jimmy is the king of late night,” Erwich told reporters Thursday during his executive session panel at ABC’s first of two days of presentations at the virtual Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
In May 2019, Kimmel signed a deal to keep “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” going at ABC for three more years, bringing it to at least its current 20th season. But a new deal extension for the show, which has been on since 2003, has been announced yet.

Are you ready to meet the bachelors from Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer?
Of course, you are!
If the conversation we had with these two charismatic gentlemen is any indication, the lucky women vying for their attention are going to have a tough choice.
If you have missed previous news on the revival of Joe Millionaire, there's a twist to the original show that last aired in 2003.
There isn't one fellow contending for women's hearts, but two, which is an excellent change to the series format.
With social media and the internet as we know it in 2022, the 2003 format wouldn't have worked.
The show title was a ruse, introducing the bachelorettes to a man believed to be a millionaire only to pull the rug out from under them with the reality that the bachelor wasn't a millionaire after all.

It’s hard to over-exaggerate just how big of a phenomenon “Joe Millionaire” was in 2003. Part of the early “Outlandish Age” of reality TV — particularly under the watch of then-Fox alternative boss Mike Darnell — “Joe Millionaire” set ratings records for an unscripted series, some of which still stand to this day.
“Joe Millionaire” ended its finale with nearly 40 million viewers tuning in to catch its big reveal — in which an unsuspecting woman discovered that the wealthy man she was dating was more hundredaire than millionaire. After the sequel fizzled, however, the franchise was shelved and sat dormant for nearly two decades. Until now.
The new series “Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer,” which premieres in January, follows two men: One wealthy, one not so much. As they date 20 women — who know just one “Joe” is a millionaire, but don’t known who — the goal is to find true love while also learning whether wealth vs.

Dramatist and screenwriter James Graham has a knack for skewering venerable British institutions, from the royal family in an episode of “The Crown,” to the tabloids in his play “Ink,” to politics in Channel 4-HBO special “Brexit: The Uncivil War,” which starred Benedict Cumberbatch.
Even his own industry hasn’t escaped Graham’s examination with last year’s ITV limited series “Quiz,” in which Matthew Macfadyen (“Succession”) and Sian Clifford (“Fleabag”) played a real-life couple convicted of defrauding the gameshow “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”
So the Metropolitan Police have good reason to be nervous now Graham has turned his eye to law enforcement in upcoming BBC series “Sherwood” starring David Morrissey (“The Walking Dead”) and Lesley Manville (“The Crown”). The six-part show is loosely based on the true story of two unrelated murders that took place within weeks of each other in 2004 in the Nottinghamshire mining village where Graham grew up.

So the Metropolitan Police have good reason to be nervous now Graham has turned his eye to law enforcement in upcoming BBC series “Sherwood” starring David Morrissey (“The Walking Dead”) and Lesley Manville (“The Crown”). Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will host the remaining episodes of “Jeopardy” for the rest of the year, Variety has confirmed. However, the search for a final, permanent host is still ongoing.
The news comes after the short-lived hosting tenure of former “Jeopardy” executive producer Mike Richards, who was named host, then stepped down nine days later after insensitive statements he made on a past podcast resurfaced, along with two previous discrimination lawsuits from his time on “The Price Is Right.” Eleven days later, Richards was fired from the show, and the few episodes he filmed during that brief timespan began airing this week.
Alongside the initial announcement that Richards would be “Jeopardy” host, Bialik was also named as the host of the show’s primetime specials and spinoff series. She was later recruited once again to fill in as the daytime “Jeopardy” host after Richards exited. Michael Davies, executive...

This anime is different from other detective shows as, although the main character is similar to Sherlock Holmes and Daisuke is certainly intelligent, he heavily relies on his expensive tech to solve mysteries.
